I haven't seen this mentioned, so I'll point it out. Don't know what good it'll do, but it's information...

On the Happy Talk page of Slusho!, there are 14 messages that recycle in a fixed pattern. There are also 10 characters that also recycle in a fixed pattern.

The characters (in the order in which they appear) are:

Duck
Octopus
Whale
Monkey
Pig
Clam
Bear
Girl
Boy
Donkey

After Donkey it loops back to Duck and starts over.

There are 14 phrases and they also recycle. So, that means that each character will get to say 7 different phrases (before the whole thing gets back to whatever phrase & character you started on. To illustrate this:

A 1 11 7
B 2 12 8
C 3 13 9
D 4 14 etc. etc.
E 5 1
F 6 2
G 7 3
H 8 4
I 9 5
J 10 6

A-I are the different characters, and 1-14 are each saying.

If you continue writing numbers down each column, you'll eventually get back to A and 1 (which resets the whole thing) and you'll have 7 columns of numbers in total.

This means, for one thing, that it is impossible (if it sticks to this pattern) for the whale to say "Am I a Whale?" There's no significance to this that I can see, but it's just an example - also, each character will only have 7 phrases to say, in total (and they never change).

Again, I don't know what to DO with this exactly, but it may prove useful to someone else. Oh, and also - I returned to the cite many times to double-check and the pattern remained the same, i.e., I could always predict which character was coming next and what it would say.

Happy hunting!

The sign language thing has been brought up before. I took three years of ASL classes and the hand gestures don't mean anything to me.

Try reading the hands backwards... that's how the code for the slusho bottles at the bottom of the page was guessed (since in japanese you write backwards)

It's not just you. They did correct that misspelling. I wonder why?

Because it was misspelled.

I just figured that it was part of the "Engrish".

What code are you talking about? I must have missed that post. I tried doing a search, but couldn't find anything.

I have to post these two corrections to previous posts:

1. The first time I went to the Happy Talk page, the whale said "Am I a whale?"; so, either your numbers are wrong, or the pattern is actually randomly generated.

2. In Japanese you do NOT "write backwards"; the sentences structure may "seem" backward to an English speaker, though. There are actually two ways to write in Japanese:
a) In vertical lines, from top to bottom and from right to left, such as in ancient scrolls and in modern newspapers.

b) Exactly like you write in English or Spanish, in horizontal lines from left to right and top to bottom; this way of writing is used in technical documents (like videogames booklets or electronics equipment manuals) and in WEBSITES, such as Slusho.jp

So, NO, in Japanese you do NOT write from right to left (like Arabic) when you write in horizontal lines.

Hey guys, uhh I dont think anyone has noticed this yet until me... ez.

Im pretty sure on the slusho site on the store page the hands in the back are saying something in SIGN LANGUAGE.

I dont know how to sign, so if anyone could either prove me right, or wrong it would be appreciated.

they look like concert gestures... the only thing I see that could mean anything is "I love you" lol

i see the 'i love you' too but before it, the guy is holding up the letter "I" with his pinkie (right?)

I think it's a step-by-step phrase: every two or three sets of hands forms a word or phrase in ASL or JSL. It's been so long since I've signed, and there's no indication of motion in the hands, but I think there's something.

How about the #'s held up by the fingers?

From left to right, 2513232543322324

Notice that these are approximations, it's actually quite tough ot tell since sometimes they hold up fists or hands at angles which make it difficult to decide if they should be included

FYI: I just noticed something, just for your information...

The song that's playing in the Store section is a repeatable segment that's publically available. I know that for a fact because it's the exact same segment of music I worked with for a former employer's ad on MySpace. I have the segment in full resolution (44Khz, 16 bit stereo) that is identical to the song they use there.

So, at least in the case of that one, it wasn't custom made and simply acquired from a sound snippet site for free or for a nominal fee.

With that in mind, I'm pretty confident the music itself means nothing, and is just something they acquired for use without licensing.

*EDIT*: Also, for the record, the background in the store is an IMAGE, so zooming won't help much.

Ok i think we REALLY have to start posting what we emailed to Satoshi for further changes if any are made. We won't get all of the emails, but try and put what you send, or what you remember sending, that way we can somewhat check if all of these Happy Talk posts are user created, or if only some are so far all i emailed was "I can drink just Six" and "What happened to Ganu. Is he dead or alive?"
This is just to see if we can figure anything out, i dunno, may be a stupid idea, but just incase of future changes to the page.
