[INFO] Transmission_072507.wmv
from Server 3 key page

Here is a transcript for the transmission:

The left hand holds darkness, the right hand holds light.
That is how the universe creates, and that is how we poceeded.
A soldier who would one day destroy his brother.
We were the thunder and the lightning.
And when we were finished, the universe was alone, drifting in labor.
Did we suceed, did we fail?
We did both, depending on who you serve.
After all, here we are, witness to the aftermath.

*bump*

I'm surprised this hasn't seen more discussion... lots of interesting tidbits here. It mentions the "darkness/light" metaphor referenced in the "Content_Overwrite" file, and implies an almost fraternal relationship between (what I assume are) the Forerunner and the Flood.

I haven't seen one yet. I checked the wiki for Server 03, but turned up nothing.

Wait, is this the key that unlocked server 3? Or is it the one needed to unlock Server 4?

The guys on the ABO forums have a copy Here

And it is the wave file that was downloadable on the bounce path control page where people got their key to unlock server 03. This is after the page where you had to play the 719 wave file.

Ah, so you need a wav file to unlock the server? Many thanks. *starts looking for the server 4 file*

Wads and wads of rampant spec
Please move this to where appropriate if it doesn't belong here

Hrm. I wonder if the "soldier who would one day destroy his brother" is a reference to Forerunner and Flood (which would be strange, because how could the Flood be the brother to anything?) or if it instead might be a reference to the AIs in place on the Halos and the Ark.

If the Halos are secondary systems, and the Ark the primary system, then the AI on the Ark is likely more advanced and developed. Perhaps it's more akin to a Cortana-level AI than the GuiltySpark/PenitentTangent AI's and retains a depth of contemplative ability they lack because he/it is based on a ForeRunner mind like Cortana and Durga/Melissa.

Such an AI would be more akin to a soldier and brother to the active ForeRunner in battle, and would be then responsible for the sacrificial cleansing undertaken by the Halo system.

Perhaps the Ark AI is also responsible for the secondary/Halo level AIs having names associated with guilt. They are offshoots, chips, fragments, tangents of the primary AI, and while not bearing the full extent of the primary AI's guilt, they at least bear a name that reflects their parent AI's sense of responsibility for the act.

Maybe it was not the ForeRunner who were morally ambivalent, as someone conjectured. Maybe it was the AI that they put in the the position of utmost importance.

Being detached from flesh, it is of pure reason, it may have been unbound the flesh-bound ethical considerations of the living ForeRunner. Another reason, perhaps, that AIs are not allowed to activate the rings (at least on the Fortress worlds): They are devoid of morality and may "jump the gun."

Except for the one in the Ark. He is, for all intents and purposes, the last of the ForeRunner. And he is repentant.

(other thought...what if the AI wasn't derived from a ForeRunner "mind," but the something akin to "Gravemind"? What if it was somehow derived from Flood hive-mind and the brother it speaks of isn't the ForeRunner, but the Flood?)

Also, sorry for blatant plagerism and extensive regurgitation of others' spec. It's just a fuzzy mess in the brain that forced itself out.

ok it's added to the wiki now. No one quoted the direct link to the mp3 this time, which is why it wasn't there. I've uploaded though, so it's now available on the bounce path control page as with server 1 and 2
