I've left Maria several messages, she doesn't call back. She'll likely email you about your message if she has your mail. There is a subject 137 chat on the website as well, Maria's not in save for one hour on Saturdays so you could use that.

Where are Vincent's posts? I don't see them...

One is in the "HELL THEY DID IT" thread, not sure where the other is, it's not showing up when you view most recent posts in his profile...

Also, I had some email interaction with Maria today, here it is:

Quote:
Me:
Just wanted to send you a quick message to say I'm one of the people who has called you and not left a message (Mine was with the 410 area code). I just hate how I sound on messages so I tend to avoid leaving them. Just wanted to clear that up!

Maria:
no worry. I was just a little jumpy that's all. But next time don't worry about how you sound. Just leave a message.

Do you know this 138 guy? He's got me a little spooked.

Me:
I have no idea who it is. It seems like there could be a hidden message with the jumbled letters and the 'yellowrug' comment, but I can't decipher what they are. It also seems, well, somewhat spastic and disorganized, so I'm suspicious that it's someone who wants us to think it's test subject 138, when in reality it's someone trying to throw us off the trail. Based on the videos, do you know if there were more subjects added later?

Maria:
The Doctor says "time is not free" in a late video

another message from Maria shortly after
Quote:
Look I found out that you guys think it's some type of game but I really did get these videos sent to me. If this is one of you playing around please tell me know. I'm a little freaked out. My favorite skirt is blue. Are you guys just messing around and threw out some crap and just guessed right? Please tell me know.

The last 2 messages I received from her she re-posted in the "Things Noticed" thread, so I'm guessing they are of some importance.

I'm happy about the faster progression of this game with the new characters, since it did seem to start out a bit slow.

Do you think there's anything significant about that sound that is made in the video in between the flashing words?

I think our main focus should be on those letters and yellow rug. Is anyone good at anagrams that might decipher that?

alright, Maria is definitely making me mad for a lack of response

Me: Maria:

I was wondering if you have found anymore outside information on your search outside of these forums. About subject138 or whoever he is, he seems to be part of a group, maybe he is still inside this place that we suspect is in NYC. You are based out of New York City right? If so, I may be able to come down and look for this place together or check out leads. Personally during that video I hear Brooklyn, not Bronx or Boston. Given the tapes, I believe they can't be older than 1990. Their camera work also isn't top notch, giving the notion that this Tommy is an old patient, or the government or whoever is funding them is extremely limited. (Since I believe a monkey could do better taping) Also regarding John Bono and Leslie Heck, did they leave numbers on your caller ID we can track? If we could contact these people, they might be vital to whoever we're searching. One thing subject 138 said wrong was that we think this is a game. This couldn't be farther from the truth. We want to find out what's going on and shut it down, we want to help. Personally myself, if I could help these people and/or prevent other subjects from being "studied", I'd feel accomplished and become a better person.

P.S. You mentioned to one of my comrades that "Time is not free" is on one of the later videos. Can you tell me which tape?

Maria: If only we could date the tapes....

Okay, in 138's video the same 'tones' are beeping over and over again.

They are -identical- to the beeps from the beginning/end of Day 22.

I tried translating them into morse, but can't find anything. Anyone else feel like giving it a try?

Addition: He's tagged his video with: defg njyt wngi yellowrug

definitely something there.

Sorry dude I suck at morse code deciphering but...I know someone who is an expert, I'll talk to them.

Anyhoo, I got another email back from Maria. She's stalling. I asked her what day had the phrase "Time Is Not Free" from her tapes such as day 8 or day 19 she said that she didn't know and would have to look over her notes. I also asked her what's the latest tape she has, day wise. Also as mentioned before with John Bono's number it gets dial tones like the person is on a dial up computer but it seems to be around the clock so my question is, how did he call Maria. Also do we have any info on leslie?

Sorry I haven't been active much, been exhausted by another game Shroud. Mcgritts knows. Anywho I've tried a couple different decoders on the jibberish, as well as an anagram but nothing of use has come up. Or knowing that make sense yet. If we get more code yellowrug may be a key word to unlock it. Also yellowrug gets nothing related when going through the anagram decoder. I'm trying to find some other decoders that may work, but for now... I'm not sure.

Not sure what Tim means, unless she took the i for an o and it spells Tom. But we already know Tom's name.. Not sure who Tim could be.

I'm just glad we are getting more action! Woohoo

Gasp! Finally it all comes together! Cloverfield is about medical testing...I knew it from the start.. >.>

I sent a message to 138islate, hopefully I can get some sort of useful response there. Also, more than one person is definitely shown on 138islate's video.

By the way, did anyone notice that this 138islate guy lists his age as 106? Could that be some sort of key? Does the number mean anything?

Hmm it could be the number of days he was in the testing place..

This is probably obvious too, but hasn't been explicitly pointed out - 138islate doesn't have to be 'isolate' without the 'o' - 138 is late.

Late - released late? Late - dead? Too late?

Ah, BTW, guys... Maria seems to have caught wind that we think this is a game. It's generally a good ARG policy to not mention that it's a game to IG characters.

In other words... In your interactions with Maria, treat her as though she's real. If you mention that she is a game character, she will simply deny it.

After all, this is not a game. Wink

---

BTW, I tried a Vigenere cipher and Keyed Caesar on the encoded text using the keyword 'yellowrug.' No luck.

Also, apparently the music in the common room is Beethoven - wild leap here, but A Clockwork Orange connection? I mean, that was about an anger management treatment, wasn't it? Has the rest of the music been identified?

(Beethoven was Alex's favourite artist in the book)

And I don't suppose either of these pieces feature?

# Opus 137: Fugue for String Quintet in D major (1817)
# Opus 138: Leonore, opera (earlier version of Fidelio, with Leonore Overture No. 1) (1807)
