Apologies for being unclear. I know who Spike Jonze is, I was just wondering if it meant anything. In all honesty, I was clutching at straws...

Although I did hope when I looked through his work, I'd find this was what he had directed for the Beastie Boys. Alas, it wasn't to be.

Anyway, er, as you were Smile

Don't get me wrong - I def. think this is a game of some kind. I guess I'm just disappointed at how cliche these characters seem. Then again, if they all die, why bother going into more detail? And, I suppose if the people seemed too real, then we might've thought they were OOG. The real point is - could this be for a reason other than sloth on the part of the makers of these myspace pages? For example, it could mean that the info. on these myspace pages wasn't designed to really "flesh out" the characters, but to conceal coded information (somehow), under the guise of a standard profile page. But, then, coded info. for WHAT?! Hurm... I guess I'm just pissed b/c I can't identify that DAMN butterfly on Rob's shirt, and I'm tired of scrolling through lists of butterflies/moths. ARG (heh, no pun intended).

Anyone...? Help...?

well, two things.

One, i think that they're just 'Living thier lives' for us to see and y'kno get to know them. I really doubt that anything is hidden in thier clothes or musics or w/e.

Two, most of his shirts are just retail shirts that anyone could buy... i believe that's from abercrombie... it said somewhere what brand it was, but its just a name brand. Nothing hidden in what kind of butterfly it is.

Thats my take...

I agree - that these photos are just there to show them living their lives, etc. But, the fact that this shirt shows up so often and we can only see different parts of it clearly in different photos made me think it was something to be 'solved' - to put it all together to get a clear look at the image. I'm skeptical about it, but it seemed like a possibility.

You say it's a retail shirt? From where? Have you found any other copies of that shirt or image anywhere? If so, please: do tell.

Also, can someone tell me where someone says that it's Rob's "favorite shirt" - I know that's on a myspace page somewhere, but I can't remember and can't find it. Many thanks.

One down....

For the record, the Slusho Seven logged in today, sometime in the last 4 hours. Probably just housekeeping.

An interesting discovery? A lot of the suits for "Mobile Suit Gundam" list their weight empty at 7 tons???

I also don't want to spoil anyone's fun, and I've enjoyed scouring over the IG sites as much as the next person, but even if you accept as fact that this *is* the beginning of an ARG (I don't, but I'd like it to be), then why would there be anything "hidden" in the MySpace pages?

These are people who don't know that they are 5.5 months from being up-close-and-personal with one or more monsters chowing down on the NYC scenery. If you assume that the characters are the only persons/entities adding content to their MySpace pages - and we have no indication that they're not - then, from a purely "game" perspective, for there to be hidden content in the MySpace pages wouldn't one or more of the characters have to:

a) "have a bad feeling about this", as they say in Star Wars
b) think that someone who can help them is reading their MySpace pages
c) think that someone who wants to stop them from being helped is also reading their MySpace pages, hence the need for secrecy/trickery?

I think that the best we can hope for from the MySpace pages - even if this is a full-blown ARG - is either comments/pics from the characters that they don't think are significant but that we know are (e.g. "I drank a lot of Slusho and I don't feel so good... like I'm going to explode", etc.) in a way that gives us more backstory on the movie or if someone starts to get paranoid/suspicious about something and starts asking for help (directly or indirectly), which would signal the beginning of interaction between the players and the characters that typifies what we've come to think of as an ARG. However, I'll also point out that since the trailer leads us to believe that these characters are going to be the main characters in the movie, it's unlikely that we would be able to interact with them directly - no matter what we do/say, they're still going to experience whatever is in the movie script.

Just my $0.02. If you're convinced it's a game, then I would think that the Slusho site (particularly looking for coded messages in the History text) would be where you'd want to spend your time, at least until something new happens with the MySpace pages to indicate that they are more than just a slow leak of characterization/movie backstory.

There are also 7 cardinal sins.
There are also 7 days in a week.

Not sure why the leap to Gundam.... other than a lose tie in with Japan, I guess.

I agree that there probably aren't any clandestine clues out there, but people are also looking for references a la the Slusho t-shirt in the trailer. maybe leading to more IG sites.

Well, the "7 empty beer bottles", "You cant drink just six!", The robot tie in on the flavor game, some other speculation the the "Roar" on the trailer sounds more mechanical than organic... I'm not stating outright I think the monster is a Mobile Suit. I dont think the clues given this early are even going to make it POSSIBLE to get to an answer, it was just an interesting point I thought some would enjoy.

SLUSHO

What do you think about this theory. Slusho contains a parasite that is harmless to humans but causes mutations in sea creatures. When Slusho is ingested some of the drinker's DNA is infused into the parasite. After the parasite is digested and expelled in human waste the parasite returns to the sea and is eaten by sea creatures, mutating them with the human DNA and/or causing their DNA to fuse with the DNA of other sea creatures. Since New Yorkers all love Slusho, millions of the parasites are flushed into the East River. Some creature ( hopefully a gigantic crab/human/squid hybid) likes the taste of the parasite and decides visit Manhattan to look for more (I just scared myself).

OK it's far fetched but its as good as the other theories.

Understood. There does seem to be a lot of pics/references to "Rob's favorite shirt", and there are a lot of other little things like parts of people's names being dropped that might lead to more MySpace pages or other sites, so I guess it's still possible that there's a gem to be found using the current content. I just tend to think we'd have found it already, but [insert deity of your choice] knows I've been wrong before.

I was more confused about those who are trying to look for things hidden in MySpace or are trying to use the profile data as a key to unlocking something on the Slusho site. To me, even if this is an ARG, that just wouldn't make sense yet. There's no evidence that there's any special relationship between Slusho and the characters that goes beyond my RL relationship with PepsiCo - I sometimes buy their products, and they have no clue who I am. I always hold out the possibility (hope?) that I'm wrong, of course, but I think we're missing something that either bridges MySpace and Slusho together or takes us off in a new direction - either because we haven't found it or it hasn't been placed somewhere to be found yet.

Agreed. Although I do occasionally sin and try to de-steg some image, or find some clue in the Slusho history text, but it's all in good fun. No harm no foul.
