Something tells me that anything on Wikipedia like that would be unreliable at best.

It is expected to be announced during 2007 San Diego Comic Con International.

Under the "Colossus" entry.

That's wikipedia. Manatees discovered America and the French Revolution was over those little beer can snakes. All it takes is one person with some time to edit.

Besides, 2007 SDCC came and went and we didn't hear diddly. So much for the Wiki. :p

I noticed in one of the pictures from the set of cheese that the permit came from the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting. Checking the list of currenty NYC productions displays the name Cloverfield.

http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/html/locations/current_nyc_productions.shtml

Also the name Starship Dave is listed. That one sounds like fun.

I Sell The Dead looks like my personal favorite. Of course, my brain wants it to be a biography of the 'bring out your dead' guy from MP and the Holy Grail.

A show of hands

This topic had the bad timing of coming out when the Monstrous poster came out so it was overshadowed by alot of people thinking it was called monstrous.

So, by a show of hands, is it plausible the film is called FOUND.

Quick recap of reasons:
1)More and more the speculation is that part of the film replays FOUND footage from RoBBie (did you catch the BB's) and the gang, so it's appropiate in context of the storyline.
2)FOUND is one of the words in caps in Abrams email.
3)FOUND is the 108 word from the back of the Slusho history.
4)A little tongue in cheek reference to Abrams' LOST.
5)I don't put much weight on this until its' open but the sites abramsfound.com, abramsfound.net and abramsfound.org have all been registered before the trailer.

So, as chEEsy as it might sound do you think it possible?

Actually, several colleges have performed tests on Wikipedia by randomly selecting something like 100 articles and comparing them with 100 of the same articles on a normal encyclopedia, and they were nearly equal. Wikipedia has roughly the same legitimacy as an offline encyclopedia, and while there is vandalism, it is short-lived.

All of your reasons are good - I esp. like that J.J. Abrams would be the creator of both Lost and Found. It doesn't really scream "action!" though, does it? But, then, if it's a kick-ass movie, any title will be accepted. So, yeah: I find myself fond of found. Good work, Red Walrus.

If the title is Found, I would guess the plot will be taking many cues from the Lost universe. It's just that given the rabidness of Lost fans--something that Abrams appreciates--I imagine such a reference wouldn't be taken--or intended--as either little or just tongue in cheek.

Which isn't to say that I don't think it's a possible title. In fact, I really like it for the title. Of course, being a rabid Lost fan myself, my opinion's not impartial....

edited for typos....

Something I've thought about. If Abrams eluded to the fact that there will be four posters out. And the final one would reveal the name. And we've had the Monstrous, and Furious, and Terrifying posters and the one revealed at Comic-Con was plain headed with the 1-18-08 at the bottom like the rest.

Could the title simply be 1-18-08?

true but then the monster would have no significant name. if Abrams wanted a monster like Japans "Godzilla" wouldnt he name the movie the monsters name?

Good point. But if the movie is centered around the events unfolding, and how the kids deal with it then it's not going to be centered on the monster anyway. I'm assuming the monster will be so "furious, monstrous, and terrifying" by design that after seeing the movie we'll remember it anyway.

Abrams may have been, and could still be playing off the speculation of what the title is to keep up the interest. And i do kind of feel if all of a sudden (insert random monster name here) is release it would take a lot of the wind out of the whole anticipation of the movie.

"1-18-08" is cryptic enough to describe everything about the movie, and at the same time keep enough suspense about it until that day comes. It serves both purposes well. Because look at what it's done since the trailer.

I think it's one of those obvious things Abrams has thrown out there, and is waiting on us to pick up on.

JadedMax: really great points..

To name the monster would probably inflate the movie/hype at this point..
I donīt think the monster needs a name... its (pretty much) impossible to name the unknown (if nobody knowns anything about the monster it in the final film) - whatīs important is the reaction of the people in the city.. the terror and mystery is the key

I think that 1-18-08 would be a superb title.. it tells a story / event that forever will be remembered as 'hell on earth" (or something ).. and it also leaves alot to the imagination...

hm. I suspect it's been said many times before, but the title 1-18-08 does not avoid the Lost connection. The month and year would of course be 1-08, which is still a pretty serious piece of Lost lore.

 1-18-08 for a title?
monster needs a name

I don't have a problem with 1-18-08 for a name I but can't see a reason for JJA to do that.

If he wants an "insane" monster, then he will have to be the one to name it. If for no other reason then the sequels that would follow a new, big time, monster movie.

I don't think JJ would make a iconic monster like he wants and not turn it into a series like the Godzilla movies. You can't have that with a date for the name unless he did a 1-18-08, 1-18-09, 1-18-10 series. Which I think would get very old very fast.

The only other way to give the monster a name would be to name the movie 1-18-08 or whatever. And then have one of the characters name the monster during the movie. That would seem odd, because if a huge killer beast is destroying the city where you live I wouldn't take the time to stop and think of a name for the monster.
