One last [Wild Spec] before tomorrow-

Colby=Agent Darkness

1.) Colby and Christine have an untold secret.

Colby ?? wrote:
Do you think they know our secret?

2.) He denies it but it's Colby's blog and it could have been him that left the clues, in the source code, that led to Agent Darkness' blog.

3.) In his 7/19 blog post "Bunches of Updates", Colby reveals the existence of another secret.

Colby wrote:
Fourth- Christine and I have uncovered something. If you will. But I can't tell you that now... more at a later date.

4.) On the same day, Agent Darkness makes his first blog post and his first and only comment on Colby's blog.

5.) On Thursday, July 26th, both Colby and Agent Darkness reveal that they're leaving for Unton the next day.

6.) Both Colby and Agent Darkness have blog posts that are 7/7/07 @ 7:00 and 7/7/07 @ 7:07.

If it were so (which I don't believe), regardless of Colby/Agent's motives, he would be a liar.

I actually haven't read any of them.

Between Dune, the Wheel of Time, and the Thomas Covenant Chronicles, I have really lost my taste for starting a series that isn't finished yet. I mean, by the time a new book comes out, I have to re-read the previous five to get back into it. Then when the next one comes out, I have to re-read the previous six.

I'm just going to wait until Harry Potter is finished. Or at least until this "chapter" of Harry's life is wrapped up.

Does anyone actually have the Harry Potter book?

Im just wondering if its something like 7th page/7th line/7th word type of thing.

Maybe it would work for the blogs too.

I actually have the last one - read it too. But I don't have it currently - I lent it to someone who wanted to read it. But since they're done, I can get it back this evening.

The trouble with that is that apparently the US and UK versions have differently numbered pages, so we would have to check both versions. Good idea though, especially with it being the 7th book.

You mean this?
"_WidgetManager._SetDataContext({'title': 'Unton', 'pageType': 'index', 'url': 'http://untonindiana.blogspot.com/', 'homepageUrl': 'http://untonindiana.blogspot.com/', 'pageTitle': 'Unton', 'encoding': 'UTF-8'," etc.

That's not a clue - that's a big javascript array.

yea, im not too familiar with source codes, so im not sure if its possible to hide something within big codes like that without screwing up the page.. but if the hidden words were to be hidden inside those huge ass paragraphs, welll it would be quite hidden indeed.

Justin appearing is a new development as well. He may be a key to the next step of this story. Just dont know how yet.

It's not really possible to hide anything in there - you have no control over that really, unless the PM worked at Blogger Razz

I seriously think that Justin or "Jason" has a big part in the story, but we haven't found it yet.

EDIT: Hey... Jason or Justin has an AIM profile at http://www.aimpages.com/sharkbyte0/profile.html

If this has been mentioned, sorry. I only had 5 hours of sleep... *yawn*

Well, I have the Deathly Hallows currently. Here are some "7" related pieces:

7th line of entire book: "The best," replied Severus Snape.

7th paragraph: "The yew hedges muffled the sound of the men's footsteps. There was a rustle somewhere to their right: Yaxley drew his wand again pointing it over his companion's head, but the source of the noise proved to be nothing more than a pure-white peacock, strutting majestically along the top of the hedge."

Page 7, Line 7: "...sounded, a terrible, drawn-out cry of misery and pain. Many of..."

Page 7, Paragraph 7: "The faces around him displayed nothing but shock; he might have announced that he wanted to borrow one of their arms."
__________________________________________________________________________
Now, the same for Chapter 7. Name of the chapter is "The Will of Albus Dumbledore"

7th line of ch 7: "Harry opened his eyes. He was lying again on the camp bed in Ron's dingy attic room."

7th paragraph of ch 7: "Harry was not wearing his glasses; Ron's face appeared slightly blurred."

7th line of 7th page of Chapter 7: "...she might have succumbed, for once, to tears. He could not do..."

7th paragraph of 7th page of Chapter 7: "Ron--,"

All I can think of currently.

Ok folks, I have nothing left.

I don't really think that the PM(s) are waiting on a timetable. In Colby's blog post "Bunches of Updates" he says that they might drive to Indiana the following Saturday. In 2 days. That actually didn't happen for 6-7 days. They waited. It could have been us that held it up but I imagine that they have had plenty of time to tie up any loose ends. Then when Colby finally goes to Unton...silence. It's been 3 days since the people, who need our help to solve this mystery, have contacted us. It's an abandoned town. What are they doing?

This leads me to 2 conclussions-

1.) The PM(s) are waiting on us and refuse to give us any new clues.

Any PM would be checking in here to see how we're doing. And how are we doing? We are a 7-8 person group that feels as if it has no leads and, without a push, will give up soon.

We all seem to feel that there is something that we are just not getting. Whether it's our fault or the PM's, that is just not changing. This thread is now 18 pages long. There isn't going to be any "new blood" joining up. If we can't get past this then it's done.

In this scenario, the PM(s) have 3 choices-

a.) Let it go. Really. You might be proud of this puzzle/riddle/phase but it's not working out how you planned it. Give us an IG clue or drop it entirely.

b.) Go to another computer (that has a different IP), create a user, and post a "newbie" observation here that leads us to the answer.

c.) Give up. Wrap up the ARG with one post or email or better yet just disapear without even letting us know. Which leads me to me 2nd conclussion...

2.) This ARG has imploded.

It's possible that we're emailing someone or some people who aren't even listening anymore.

Either way, I (and I'm assuming you all) have sent them enough emails over the last 4 days that they have had plenty of opportunities to give us a hint or tell us it's over.

PM type people- Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed your ARG up to this point and wouldn't mind talking to you about it at a later date. However, I only have a certain amount of time to waste smashing my head against my monitor so as of now, I'm done with Prophecy of Stars.

One of the characters was online yesterday, it's not like they have deserted the game for a month... I don't think there is anything to be concerned about. If there is a puzzle we are missing I'm sure they will nudge us in the right direction, like with the dashes dot html post Colby made.

It's only been a couple days since we solved the last puzzle. I think this is normal for args... actually much better than normal from my experience.

Edited for politeness' sake...

My original reply here was quite critical and after thinking about it I have to admit that I haven't done any better than these or any other PMs.

look at the human pet, its taken a month to even hear a new posting! now thats patience! give it a little more time ok? i really doubt this PM has given up already.. not after all of this.

smooth,

I appreciate that but I'm not saying that he/she/they have given up. I think that most likely they had to help us with the "dashes dot" and ".plan" and they're not wanting to give us another. I doubt that they are "recouping" though.

I just don't think it's as clear as they think it is. If it is, we're all idiots.

So, either I'm an idiot and will have to have the rest of this ARG spoon fed to me or I have to out wait the PM(s) and hope that whatever they are waiting for will be dropped or spoon fed to me.

Neither of those formulas equate to fun.

I understand that this sounds totally ungrateful. I respect anyone who even attempts to put together an ARG. Just brainstorming one is a chaotic process and even though I hope to do one someday, the idea is daunting.

grasping at straws

I know that someone has already mentioned the discrepancy between the number of posts listed for Gabriel and Justin on student.com and how many posts come up in a forum search. I think this might deserve a little more attention. angri is listed as having made 3 posts, but only 2 come up in forum search because one of them was in the 'groups' (asking help w/ Harry Potter line of inquiry). Apparently group posts don't come up in forum searches, but do apply to one's total posts. I would hypothesize that there is a short dialogue between Gabriel and Justin somewhere within the groups. I haven't found it yet, but it's pretty much the only vague semblance of a direction I have at this point. Does anyone else think this might be something besides wildly improbable spec?
