Ah, I knew it said that, but I thought someone said it said something different when you used Satoshi.
I was under the assumption everyone had been using Satoshi as a username the whole time, nevermind!
And to Nighthawk, don't lash out, it's a fake viral marketting site, if the password ended up being something Slusho related it would be IG.
*sigh*
You're all taking the "illegal" thing to seriously.
You think that JJ and whoever else would get furious and send someone to jail? Can you imagine the millions of people who've tried the FTP? The must have expected it to be snooped around in.
I'm not saying to HACK it, I'm saying if the password is guesable and Slusho related it's most likely IG. If it's unrelated and someone bruteforced to get in, I can see that being a problem.

Why even have a username created that is listed on the site, if it's just viral marketting. Why not allow no logins like the 1-18-08 site? I can't see anyone being sent to jail for attempting to gain access through guessing the password for the Satoshi username. If it WAS illegal, I can see a real staff member reassuring everyone it's not neccessary. These people aren't out to sue us...
Because as been pointed out before, it's on a shared hosting site, so there's about three-four thousand different domains hosted on that machine, ftp has no way of knowing you're trying to connect to ftp.slusho.jp or ftp.someothersite.com or even ftp.ihavepants.com, so there is no way for them to disallow ftp access based on what you think you're connecting to.
And yes, I myself have warned that it is not necessary.

Not staff from here. -_-;
Staff from Slusho.
Also, FTP doesn't always work that way.. actually, it very rarely does.
A server computer will set up FTP accounts for it's users, ftp.slusho.jp would connect to the slusho.jp FTP account, not the entire server.
That's like saying if I made a tripod site I could back up within the FTP and hack ALL of tripod, which is just silly.

Actually the host they're using has *several* subdomains for web mail, PDA mail, FTP, etc...
I'm not going to post them because I expect you all are going to try to hack those, too.

Unless you login with user@hostname then the server has no idea what domain you're connecting to. The FTP spec has no Host: header as in HTTP/1.1. Furthermore you're confusing virtual-hosts with chrooted users.

There will not be anything relevant to the movie that has to be hacked out of the site. Get this through your heads. It is going to be semi-subtle clues. please stop thinking this is some huge intricate process.

It really annoys me when people say things like this so matter-of-factly. it's a game dude.....we are having fun exploring and researching and "hacking". I respect the fact that you think the site is only offering semi subtle clues, and I'm not saying that can't be right but there is also just as much of a chance that there are hidden clues or information.

IMHO...
Hidden clues, yes. Password guessing an FTP server, no.

There are two TOTALLY seperate things going on in this thread. the concept of looking around at the surface of the site, stegs and what not. That's a GOOD concept, and is far from "hacking". This is encouraged and no one at all has said not to, however i do think it has all already been done so the search feature might have helped there.
the second is the big nono thing, "hacking", brute forcing, ftp and email break ins. Those people who suggested doing these things has been shot down by more experienced players are well as some not so much. Also, i believe one or two people might have been PMs of another game, and have - i am sorry to have to say - much more experience on these matters. No one who is honestly playing the game will brute force, those who do if they actually get anywhere well... That has ruined games in the past {unless a good pm steps in and does something spectacular, for an example see Urban Hunt/Dread House].
Really, at this point, the whole thread seems rather silly. The topic of actually hacking has been shot down to death, and the looking aroudn the site has already been done on other threads.
This thread prob won't get locked as it wasn't offensive {luckily}, but really, does it need to continue?

It's not offering clues, it's offering T-shirts.
OR
There's Japanese sign language on the store page that reveals a secret code that unlocks the flavor scramble that gives a link to a new website, and on that website it tells you to buy a Slusho t-shirt.
There's a myth regarding the creation of the monster (history) and some fun stuff for us rabid kids... let's get some fresh air people.

Hidden clues aren't clues that will be found by hacking websites. I really was not shooting down anyone who wants to have fun, I was merely saying that no one has to waste a whole night hackinga website, because there isnt going to be anything there.
You sound mighty "matter-of-factly"...
Hypocrite?

If they want to hack it, let them. We can laugh and talk about what idiots they are as we're drinking beers and eating nachos and they're sleeping with one eye open in PMITA prison.
