I love how everyone is so pissed off about this. What did you expect? We have known for a long while this was about a tabletop game. Just because you refused to believe it was does not make it the PMs fault.

And being mad about ckrox? Wow thats laughable, that was dismissed as not in game pretty much the first moment it was found.

The only thing I find disappointing is that I for some reason can not get the alpha omega site to load.

I expected something on the level of what I saw with Year Zero...I had never heard of ARGs until a few weeks ago (a common story here, I'm sure) so I poked around the unforums, and got interested. I am still completely unsure as to exactly what Year Zero was DOING, so I guess my expectations for Ethan Haas were unfounded...because I didn't know WHAT to expect.

As far as the ckrox thing is concerned...you can color me a nooblet here if you want, but who gets to decide what's in game and what's not? This was dismissed so quickly as to be almost not even considered, in my humble opinion. Now, whether or not it's "in game" I don't know...but it strikes me as kind of bizarre how the mantra of the ARG is "This is not a game" but we still treat it like one...and we use tools like whois lookups to try to decide if websites were created by the people we've identified as the puppet masters and within a certain time frame, thus making them in game or out of game. But...I dunno, if I were a PM, I would not want to have all of my websites registered under the same name, or hosted by the same service, or whatever...I'd want to keep you guessing. So, if ckrox.com is strictly OOG, are we just going to go with the explanation that "ckrox" is an anagram or the initials of or somehow a signature for the person who built ethanhaaswasright.com?

I'm not trying to be rude, here, but I really want to understand this.

Seems like the last clue is important...maybe we missed something...didn't van say somthing about a KEYcode? Maybe the divinus tablet have on;y one thing the answer to the 5th puzzle is the answer to the divinus if only I could remember what the top and bottom lines are....

I think I can answer this one: if memory serves, he was referring to the alphabet (where we would identify that A and Z were the only characters we had labeled for us) so we could derive the code "The beginning is the end" as the unlock for that puzzle.

I'm not "pissed off"... I'm puzzled.

It doesn't make any sense. Throw all those clues in the last few days and end it all abruptly?!? All these clues unresolved.... two domains that don't have anything on them yet...

There's more to this, I can feel it. But, if that's the case, bad form in opening the curtain early.

They were in control of the timing, so I don't feel that we missed anything or else they would have accelerated the timeline. If everything *had* to be done by today, they would have done whatever necessary in order to accomplish that.

It just doesn't make any sense.

WOW that was underwhelming. I was expecting a second phase of the game. I'd never heard of ARGs until last month, and this genuinely interested me. But now I just feel... well, tricked. I mean, what about Divinus? Kellie? John? I just sent emails to all the addresses involved; I'm sure I'll get back some quick "closure" nonsense. Gah. I never liked RPGs and this makes me dislike them even more.

I agree, Nighthawk. There was too much going on (well, not really, but stuff happened) with Triton Enterprises and Divinus to just close it up. When I got the autoreply email from Kellie Graham, my very first thought was a flashback to "Half Life" and the opening scene where the scientists open a portal to another dimension...then I skipped over to a memory replay of "Event Horizon" and...well, you get the idea.

There is/was an EPIC game potential here...forcing poor schmucks like us to dig through layers of alternate reality to figure out exactly what had been done, what had been unleashed, and how it all tied together. This COULD have been an EXPERIENCE.

Now, I'm just hoping they manage to wrap it up as a game.

I'm "pissed off" as you so eloquently put it, because of the lack of real, honest-to-goodness closure all the emails now basically say "Game's over, now go look at the shiny pretty things."

I found this a few weeks ago...looks like a completely different style of game and story line though. I might just buy the manual just for the storyline. I love me some good Scifi.

I am soooooo glad I sat out of all of this and just waited till 8-1. I understand why you guys are pissed, but I think you brought it on yourselves by making this into more than it was. Still, to put all that effort into EHWR with the flash and videos and then the ending is a weak sauce press release? I think Mindstorm just alienated more customers than it gained.

Ckrox was considered out of game because it was registered in like 2004, I cant imagine they were planning this back in 2004. Because if they were planning this back then, it would have gone off a little more smoothly.

I think the problem with this ARG is it got caught up in all the cloverfield crap, so people that this wasn't really aimed at got interested. Now all those same people are angry. Had it not got caught up in the cloverfield mess, people who like paper and pencil RPGs would have been the only ones interested in this.

This is nothing like year zero in that year zero kept going even after the release of the product, in fact the CD was just another piece of the ARG. So yes maybe this ARG has failed or whatever, but hey they cant all be I Love Bees....

http://www.alphaomega.thegame.com

I had problems with it too, on both IE and Firefox.

I ended up going back to ethanhaaswasright.com, and clicking the "Yes" link, which opens up the game page.

However, there appears to be absolutely NO content there yet, and the links that look like they might take you to some stuff seem to not be ready yet, as I got a page that started to load and then stopped.

For what it's worth.

it was working earlier today... probably got more traffic than they expected.
Now about the reminder email and code we are suppose to have:

I think if there is a next part of the story will unfold using their game mechanics, kind of like a trial account to get us hooked, possibly its what we do with the code we are suppose to get.
