Could be. You've read plenty on the years after Houdini's death now, I take it. People have been trying seances to reach him every year since he died. Perhaps this is sort of an online seance where we are getting some of the thoughts of Mr Houdini?

Maybe yes, we'll see.
That was a pleasure to take my first steps into ARG (even a small one !) with you anyway. Enjoy the rest of it...

Well, considering that the Houdini video only has been seen at blip.tv, maybe we are supposed to find it somewhere else? Also, he says in it that "the greatest trick is yet to come", so maybe there will be more?
Perhaps there will be more clues in the next episode.

There is Morse code behind the Houdini video ("you have found me"). I'm having a hellva time trying to pull it out though.

Nice find!
Erh, It really is hard to hear. I'm getting something like .-- .... .- - .. ... - .... . --- -. . -.... .. -. --. .. --- ..- -.. .. -. which isn't the whole thing and I know it's not completely right. It translates to "WHATISTHEONE6INGIOUDIN" so, I'm guessing it's "What is the one 6 in houdini.." something
ETA: Ok, it's "What is the one thing.." , and I think we can be pretty sure the next word is Houdini.

I've found the original sound recording. I'm trying to phase invert it to eliminate the voice and leave the beeps, but the track keeps slowing down progressively towards the end. I can't seem to match the rate. If I could replicate whatever it is they've done to slow it down, I could pull out the beeps. Dang it!

How very technical of you! And here I am listening to it over and over again. Haha.
So far I've got

.-- .... .- - .. ... - .... . --- -. . - .... .. -. --. .... --- ..- -.. .. -. .. -.-.
= WHAT IS THE ONE THING HOUDINI C
It just gets harder and harder as it goes.

I think the next word is CANT, but its really a pain to hear. The beeps are centered around 300Hz, so I band limited the sound file so its only around that frequency. See if this helps you any :

Edit : Actually, this might be a bit easier on the ears :

I really can't hear anything beyond the C.. My ears will start to bleed soon.
I'm throwing a guess out there, and taking a break from the beeps:
Total guess: What is the one thing Houdini couldn't escape?
Possible answers: Reality, death?

That's probably about what it is and I would say the answer would be death or appendicitis/peritonitis (the cause of his death). I'm guessing that since we seem to be given a little extra piece of the puzzle every day, it might become more clear in the following days if this is correct and what to do with the information.

So I got a reply back from the franzmertensSPLAT gmail.com with the following image attached. I've checked it with stegdetect and came up with nothing but haven't had a chance to look any further at it.

I agree that it looks like a steg, but I've tried a bunch of things and came up empty. I can tell you that it was recently edited in Adobe Photoshop CS3 (Mac edition), so that may help. I can't imagine there are many steg programs for CS3 on OSX since its so new.
Did the email say anything at all or was it just the picture?
Perhaps he's just trying to tell you that his hands are tied and he can't say anything
