[Wii] Shopping channel downloads
What have you spent your points on?

Was curious as to what people are spending their points on and whether anyone can recommend particular retro games?

So far I have downloaded:

  • Super Mario Brothers (couldn't resist the nostalgia)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog (likewise)
  • Altered Beast (wiiise fwum your gwave!)
  • Kirby (naffly addictive)
  • Gunstar Heroes (meh)
  • Aristar (slightly bizarre Sonic-esque platformer)

The only purchase I've made on Ye Olde Virtual Console is the classic Kirby's Adventure for the NES. I keep meaning to pick up A Link to the Past, but I never have my credit card on me when I'm in front of the tv Smile. I'm also holding out for Super Mario All-stars and Dr. Mario, which my girlfriend particularly loves because she can beat the pants off of me without fail.

The only thing I've bought is Sonic the Hedgehog - mostly because I'm easy to impress and having Sonic on a Nintendo console still blows my mind.

There's a few other genesis games I would normally get (Altered Beast, Comix Zone, etc), since I grew up without a Genesis and never really got to play them except at friends' houses. But I bought the PS2 Genesis collection disc for much cheaper than the total cost of getting them all for the Wii.

The Wii download prices are still a bit high for me to pump a lot of money into them. But if Metal Marines ever shows up as a US release, I'm sold.

I love Virtual Console! Probably one of the best things about the Wii.

For Nostalgia's Sake:
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funkotron (Genesis)
Paper Mario (N64)

Missed the First Time Around:
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Adventures of Lolo (NES)

I also Love the Wii Virtual Console Feature

I think it's one of the coolest features that the Wii offers.

I also enjoy all of the Nintendo based channels:

Everybody Votes
Check Mii Out
Nintendo Channel

they are all pretty fun to mess around with for a bit once a week.
and obviously, the Internet channel still blows my mind.

I can post on Unfiction whilst sitting on my couch and drinking a beer!!!

It doesn't get much better than that.

Anyways, the games I've downloaded are.....

Super Mario Bros. (of course)
The Legend of Zelda (saves actually work this time)
Excitebike (still just as much fun)
Bubble Bobble (still just as hard and frustrating, yet very pleasing)
Donkey Kong Country (never had it as a kid)

the list will soon be longer as my wife and I decide what to grab next.
I'm thinking either Super Mario World or Mario 3
She's still holding out for Tetris.

I'm still holding out for Dr. Mario.
(yeah, i know they made the Dr. Mario Wiiware thing, but it's 10 bucks)

Very Happy
