Stolen Lawn Mower May Mean Trouble for Lawn Mower Racers

by, MELODY HELLER, Amboy Monthly

Has the Lawn Mower Racing community gone too far? Alma Duncan's lawn mower disappered out of her yard this week, despite the fact it was not in working order. Mrs. Duncan's $3,500 lawn mower was in the midst of being repaired when it made it's timely disappearance from her yard.

It's something that makes you go "hmmm?" It is quite a coincidence that the lawn mower was in disrepair and it still disappeared, along with the repair parts which were being stored in a different location. Has someone pilfered the mower to build a "racer" for the annual Territorial Days race?

While lawn mower race has become a huge phenomenon in this North Clark County community, fire chief, Stan Walker, says that the gentlemen who participate in the event are upstanding individuals. He doesn't believe that anyone of these men (or women) would stoop to stealing to make it big on the circut.

"Besides, anybody who knows racing lawn mowers knows, that a 14-horse power mower isn't allowed by regulation. All mowers must be 12-horse power to compete at Territorial Days," says Chief Walker.

I guess that settles the matter for the chief, but Mrs. Duncan is convinced that one of those "hooligans" is behind the theft.

Whatever the case may be, wisdom says lock up that mower lest it become a donation for those less fortunate racing fanatics.

Amboy looking forward to the Baseball Season

The Amboy Little League is planning on sending the top boys baseball team on tour to Austrailia at the end of the regular season. The program has been so successful in the past the Little League Booster Club did some extra fundraising to ensure this year's top team will enjoy the experience of taking this class act on the road. Amboy Little League has been sent to the championship team to play exhibition games to Austrailia for the past fifteen years.

At the end of the latest News item there are these links:

News from
Feb 1, 2004
Feb 2, 2004
Feb 18, 2004

The Feb 1st and Feb 18th links direct to the correct news item but the Feb 2nd link actually directs to the Feb 18th article (Car Crash Kills Two), and if you enter it manually (http://www.amboymonthly.com/20040202) it direct to the Feb 1st article. Just a mix up I assume. Very Happy

Dear Mr. Fox,

We are creating a Feature Link with the intention of giving articles more depth. For instance - The Restorers, Ideltech Information, and Lawn Mower Racing.

Chad Hopkins runs the store for Columbia River Rentals. I told him he needed to let me put the phone number on the site, but he says, "[interruptions] will take him away from working on his equipment." Anyone can come by and see him and get anything they need at anytime. Yet, I will definitely show him this Email and show him what potential business he missed. Maybe he will get a voice mail and email with enough persuasion.

Melody Heller

Dear Ms. Heller,
Thank you for your wonderful newsletter full of useful information about Amboy and the surrounding area. I notice that Ideltech now appear to have a new website. Do you have any more information regarding developments within this company or perhaps you are planning an in depth interview with some of its key employees? Also, I notice that your site has a very prominent link to Columbia river rentals. I could soon be in need of a large mechanical appliance for a construction project of my own. Do you have any contact details for Columbia River Rentals as they appear to been omitted from their site. Many thank for all your hard work.

Mr S. Fox.

Fame at last Very Happy
