CONTACT - Marcus on AIM

Had a chat with Marcus on TOBI's capabilities, mainly:

MarcusThesburg (4:14:48 PM): I hope things are going good for you in the quest of Part 1 interview process. If you need help clearing up a question maybe I can help.
MarcusThesburg (4:15:37 PM): I meant, if you had trouble understanding a question, I am willing to help as much as possible w/o giving away an answer or hint.
centurynectarine (4:16:37 PM): well, the questions are pretty straightforward, but in a few cases finding out anything is proving quite difficult
MarcusThesburg (4:17:52 PM): Yes, they are. Meant that way. How can you help a program find information, if you can't narrow down the www for it. That was the intent.
centurynectarine (4:19:13 PM): but shouldn't the program be able to get a lot of this sort of information quite easily without help?
centurynectarine (4:19:44 PM): If it needs people to sift out relatively straightforward things like Maggie's register value ...
MarcusThesburg (4:20:07 PM): Yes, but usually with a bunch of extra information you and I, and the Dept of Defense doesn't need.
centurynectarine (4:20:45 PM): it can't sift information for relevance at all?
centurynectarine (4:21:23 PM): some information in the interview can be found through a simple google search. It can't do something like that?
MarcusThesburg (4:21:35 PM): That was there for a little comic relief. Not to mention, TOBI may go off looking for a real world family name the Simpsons.
centurynectarine (4:22:36 PM): so what is TOBI able to do? if you need people for preprocessing, once you've got this data, what can TOBI do with it that a human couldn't do just as easily?
MarcusThesburg (4:22:50 PM): TOBI can, but who is putting the search topic in.... you are.... you are already defining the search.... You will help TOBI the same way
centurynectarine (4:23:33 PM): but couldn't you just input questions directly into TOBI for a starting point?
centurynectarine (4:23:48 PM): say, TOBI, search for: new features, Madden 2005, videogame
MarcusThesburg (4:25:56 PM): Great question. Some of which I can't answer due to confidentiality issues. But for one, he can get around some low level security if he is needed to. And, he also searches new information as it is found. For instance; He finds an address while looking for someone. So now he takes that address and references everyone who has ever lived there and can find the dates the person lived there and where they had their mail forwarded to.
MarcusThesburg (4:26:09 PM): In a matter of 10 minutes
centurynectarine (4:26:34 PM): So he can spider outward, but works best with a very specific starting point?
MarcusThesburg (4:26:37 PM): Usually takes the feds up to an hour to get the same stuff, with warrants
MarcusThesburg (4:26:49 PM): exactly!!
MarcusThesburg (4:27:33 PM): And he does that while searching for up to 35 other things at the same time.
centurynectarine (4:27:42 PM): impressive
MarcusThesburg (4:27:55 PM): Not to mention prioritizing what is important and what might not be so important
MarcusThesburg (4:28:02 PM): We believe so
centurynectarine (4:29:02 PM): how can he differentiate between important and unimportant? And if he can, would he then be able to sift through a lot of data without the help of researchers and discard everything much faster on his own?
MarcusThesburg (4:31:31 PM): He is learning that process now. He has been used for commercial research lately and is not quite getting the grasp of "counter-intelligence." But he will. He learns from us on what is important. 35 different ports looking for info. We controlled 30 of those and let him decide the other 5. Lately, we can give him up to 9 and he seems to do fine with it. The other 26 we have to help him decide.
MarcusThesburg (4:32:35 PM): As far as sifting info. He used to do that well. Feds want all of it. Then they have their guys look at it.
MarcusThesburg (4:33:50 PM): They call it security messures.
MarcusThesburg (4:34:06 PM): Dang, I need to run for a moment. Take care.
centurynectarine (4:34:12 PM): Take care
MarcusThesburg (4:34:13 PM): IM me anytime
centurynectarine (4:34:15 PM): ok
MarcusThesburg (4:34:23 PM): Good Luck
centurynectarine (4:34:33 PM): thanks

Just had a conversation with marcus basically to sum up the conversation he reassured me that drexel is crazy. That he did not invent TOBI but inspired them to invent it. That melody was afraid of drexel. I asked him about using our IPS to hide ideltech from terrorists they would see us and not them and he said we would dial into them so that didn't make sense. He could not reassure me completely that nothing was wrong with TOBI he would only say he is well leashed. I noticed today that drexels main page
http://bluelouboyle.com/
has changed saying TOBI is being misused.

xlaurenxcoolx: Hi i saw the news article. So he really did breach security? Why would he do such a thing
MarcusThesburg: Who knows. I sure hope he gets help though.
xlaurenxcoolx: did you read his web blog?
MarcusThesburg: Melody recognized him as the guy from Powell's she is a little shaken
MarcusThesburg: I did. I hope Melody is going to be fine
xlaurenxcoolx: me to. i saw the link and read the blog myself. he basically says he invented TOBI.. is he delusional?
xlaurenxcoolx: and that you are using us
xlaurenxcoolx: I guess i'm playing devils advocate here cause i'm just trying to figure out what is going on
xlaurenxcoolx: i'm not trying to offend you
MarcusThesburg: Well, I can tell you we created TOBI. As a teacher, he inspired. Heck we paid him for that. He gave us ideas like a teacher should, but we came to the conclusions ourselves
MarcusThesburg: He is bitter about circumstance.

xlaurenxcoolx: because of being fired?
MarcusThesburg: Yes, our "recklessness" caused his demise.
MarcusThesburg: We were younger and wanted so bad to make it work, we had no idea it would work too well.

xlaurenxcoolx: what about this quote from his blog which concerns me the most.. how can you reassure me about this.
xlaurenxcoolx: The idea was to hire any "joe," "housemom," or "crackwhore" who can use a computer. Those impressionable people should know that terrorists can find just as much about anti-terrorism as we can find out about terrorists. So yes, we may find out more info, but it will be the "crackwhore's" IP that the terrorists see. Not Ideltech's
MarcusThesburg: We tried to apologize, but he disappeared
MarcusThesburg: Interesting thought by the uninformed.

xlaurenxcoolx: so there is no validity to it at all?
MarcusThesburg: YOu direct dial to ideltech and direct TOBI here from your desk at home.
xlaurenxcoolx: you said it would work too well? TOBI? are you having problems with TOBI.
MarcusThesburg: No, that was then..... during the college experiment
xlaurenxcoolx: are u sure all bugs are fixed then.

MarcusThesburg: I can say NO ONE is sure.... TOBI is self writing..... he evolves. But we can say he is well leashed
xlaurenxcoolx: ok i feel ALOT better now. thank you
MarcusThesburg: No problem. I can't predict the future. But I hope you see the future for Ideltech is bright.
xlaurenxcoolx: I do Smile thanks sorry about the questions but he really freaked me out Smile
xlaurenxcoolx: i hope melody will be alright
MarcusThesburg: He really "freaked" me out too. Not the man I remember
MarcusThesburg: Me too

xlaurenxcoolx: i already turned my app in and look forward to hearing from you soon. i better go i have an 8 month old trying to take the keyboard away from me
MarcusThesburg: OK, good luck!!

Chat with Marcus

Marcus Initiated this conversation. It appears he and Melody are doing the Hibbidy-Dibbidy..

marcusthesburg: I am going to be away for a while. Melody is coming over and she wants to watch a movie with me. I will respond to messages after she leaves. BTW:Say the "Man Prayer" for me.
Deneb: Good luck with Melody. She sounds like a peach
Deneb: I recommend watching "true Romance"
marcusthesburg: Not funny, we are watching some Kevin Spacey movie
marcusthesburg: Amercian something
Deneb: That's probably American Beauty.
marcusthesburg: sorry i got to go, she showed up.... in PJ's?!? at 11:30?!?!
Deneb: woo hoo.!! Go Marcus. Fill me in with Details

On YM

I got the same message from Marcus as an offline message on YM. What is the "Man Prayer"?

Also got this one from him earlier, after sending him an offline message asking if he knew of a Drexel person:
marcusthesburg (4/1/04 3:04:11 PM): I am a bit concerned. Do you know how I can read his blog? We have never fired anyone. We just worked on TOBI ourselves. We only hired one person and that was the lady who could never get our website working. She is still here in a more administrative role now. I have hard time firing people. I just let people fire themselves. Not to mention she is the only employee I really ever had. Good luck with Malynn.

Summary: Wondering what the Man Prayer is... I'm spec'ing that he's hoping to get lucky with his gal Melody while watching a movie. And sounds like Marcus is truly a nice guy. Doesn't want to fire employees or make them upset.

I saw marc this morning on AIM and talked to him about how a friend of mine (Drexel/roddington) turned against me for basically no reason. at which point he said he was thinking and had been talking to Jude about giving me a job with Ideltech as the Manager of the Midwest.. I could be an inside person to help out with whats going on in the game.. He then called me at my house to reassure me because of the bad things drexel said about me. He wanted to know who had turned against me and said this stuff at which point I wouldn't tell him as I have not given up on drexel quite yet and dont really want to mess myself up there.. but maybe i should i'm not sure.

see link http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3924)

Conversation below:

[12:56] i'm upset
[12:56] can i ask a guys opinion please?
[12:57] marcusthesburg: Sure....
[12:57] marcusthesburg: What would you like to know?

[12:57] someone who i thought was friend suddenly turned on me for basically no reason for a innocent and honest mistake i made.. they even went so far as to call me really offending names.. they wont contact me and basically hate me and i dont know to do.. i'm hurt offended and confused
[12:59] marcusthesburg: Well, My thought on it you do tend to force things a bit instead of letting them happen naturally. Remember how I said you would be great first date. I hope Marty hasn't done anything to make you not want to be part of Ideltech.
[13:00] no its not marty .. i just dont think i should be talking to anyone anymore and just sit in the sidelines so to speak
[13:00] sorry if i've ever offended you or anything
[13:01] this person thought i betrayed them when i didnt.. someone else did
[13:01] marcusthesburg: No, your inquisitive nature inpires me. Truly. I just suggest you try to remember the Ideltech Agreement when dealing with anyone. Sometimes you might locka door you couldn't open for the next person
[13:02] ok
[13:02] marcusthesburg: Hey, Krystal
[13:02] yeah
[13:02] marcusthesburg: You really do inspire me
[13:03] thanks
[13:03] marcusthesburg: I mean that. You have a kindred spirit.
[13:03] thanks that makes me feel better
[13:03] marcusthesburg: And I think you have what it takes to be part of Ideltechs family
[13:03] really?
[13:04] marcusthesburg: Really. I was even talking to Jude about the possiblity of making you a Mid West manager
[13:04] Wow Smile
[13:07] marcusthesburg: You know what.... do you have a micro phone?
[13:07] perk
[13:07] what is that
[13:07] so no
[13:08] marcusthesburg: A thing to record your voice on the computer?
[13:08] no
[13:08] marcusthesburg: Ok, I was going to chat voice to voice. I will just call you if you don't mind.
Session Close (marcusthesburg): Sun Apr 04 13:24:41 2004

he said the job would entail giving out warrants and such to you guys which would be really really cool! So are we backing the wrong guy here? i'm really confused

Just got through chatting with Marcus and a phone conversation with him.. basically had explanations for things on the disk.. At the same time the professor contacted me (have not pulled my app either INTERESTING). I asked the professor to prove who he was and he said he would get on a webcam tonight to prove to me he was who he said he was.. Marcus asked me to capture the webcam (Dont know how to do that) so that he could use it against him.. On the phone conversation Marcus stated: The professor is forming an underground terrorist organization and for everyone that pulled their app I am making a list of as suspects and having them monitored by TOBI. Oh and that he never crashed his girlfriends car.

Chat with Professor:
Session Start (AIM - :CliffordWorly): Wed Apr 07 11:02:01 2004
[11:02] CliffordWorly: So?
[11:06] prove your really the professor
[11:06] cliffordworly: Excuse me?
[11:06] cliffordworly: How would you like me to prove it?

[11:07] show yourself on webcam
[11:07] cliffordworly: I don't have a webcam at work.
[11:08] voice?
[11:08] cliffordworly: No.
[11:08] cliffordworly: Perhaps we should talk later when I get home. I got my laptop yesterday night. It has a webcam
.
[11:08] ok
Session Close (cliffordworly): Wed Apr 07 11:09:23 2004

Chat with Marcus

[14:44] WR is online but hasn't contacted me.. he may not tonight if he thinks i'm a wolf in sheeps clothing
[14:47] marcusthesburg: a wolf in sheeps clothing?
[14:48] that i'm not really on his side
[14:48] marcusthesburg: He has sides now?
[14:48] he told everyone to ask for the apps back from ideltech
[14:49] marcusthesburg: Wow. Do you have any proof it was him on the computer?
[14:49] marcusthesburg: That must be why I got 10 people today asking to resign the application

[14:50] 10 out of hundreds aint that bad Smile
[14:51] marcusthesburg: no, not bad at all.
[14:51] so i'd guess ideltech side will be much greater then the professor
[14:51] marcusthesburg: But, the thing is, did he have someone type for him
[14:51] marcusthesburg: If he did he is not breaking retaining order

[14:51] there is no way for me to even begin to tell since this is all text based .. thus the webcam tonight if he goes through with it
[14:56] the picture of the professor with the name mike peterson?
[14:57] and the movie still
[14:57] marcusthesburg: LOL, OMG don't waste your time there!!!
[14:58] marcusthesburg: It was the Movie VERTIGO!!!
[14:58] how do you know
[14:58] marcusthesburg: We were playing with some special effects software back then in 1999
[14:59] marcusthesburg: We were trying to make the movie more High-tech.
[14:59] marcusthesburg: It's an old movie

[14:59] then what about the picture of the professor holding a sign with the name mike peterson
[15:01] marcusthesburg: LOL, that was a "Science Fair from a long time ago"
[15:01] marcusthesburg: One for programming
[15:01] marcusthesburg: Mike Peterson was the winner

[15:01] ok
[15:01] marcusthesburg: The people in the front are the judges
[15:02] marcusthesburg: The people behind them submitted projects

[15:04] was the professor ever married? melodys notes said he was but he tells others no its a lie
[15:05] marcusthesburg: Yes, he was. I thought it would be good to find her, but TOBI couldn't even locate her
[15:05] malynn?
[15:06] and why would he deny it .. what happened there
[15:06] marcusthesburg: No, it wasn't malynn LOL
[15:06] marcusthesburg: I have no idea

[15:06] you know malynn?
[15:07] marcusthesburg: Yes, but I know it is part of the interview, so not telling much
[15:08] i sent in the interview before we started finding out about her so i have nothing on the interview for her
[15:08] marcusthesburg: The Prof's wife's name was Virginia Roddington.
[15:08] marcusthesburg: s'okay. most people don't

[15:08] did they divorce?
[15:09] marcusthesburg: the only information we had was stuff that happened prior to his release from UofO
[15:09] marcusthesburg: Then like, poof, disappeared

[15:09] weird
[15:10] marcusthesburg: That's what I think.
[[15:15] thinking
[15:15] about something the professor mentioned about you that seemed silly
[15:15] marcusthesburg: what was that? are you still taling to him?
[15:15] marcusthesburg: What did I SAY?
[15:16] marcusthesburg: HELLO?

[15:16] no
[15:16] i'm not
[15:16] marcusthesburg: Sure?
[15:16] its soemthing he asked the applicants to do i saw a transcript on
[15:16] marcusthesburg: Ok, what is it.
[15:16] he asked for an investigating into you concerning a car crash
[15:16] your gf car
[15:16] a few years back
[15:17] marcusthesburg: Weird..... Someone was asking I had any car accidents yesterday
[15:17] you haven't had any?
[15:17] marcusthesburg: I'm callling
[/code]

I dunno, those seem like awfully convenient explanations for some rather weird files. Who the hell makes movie stills that small??

and maybe I missed this, but how did he know we had the disk, and what the contents were? Did someone already inform him of that?

I agree. There's more to that VertThum file, I think.

Has anyone asked Melody about her car being crashed? Who was it that asked about Jude's parents' crash ... maybe that person could follow up and ask about any crashes she herself had?
