Why use barcodes? Ok so from the top then.
The letter; suggests that there are two pms and that this is not their first ARG. One of the pms is called the sun god the other is called tom 2man.
the biggest clue is the PS message. and the letter is missing 4 periods and two I's and four stars.
As for the barcodes someone went to a lot of work to produce them so they must b very integral to this.

Sure, they may be very common, but that doesn't mean there can't be something there. Something about the history or the bell or some-such. But it could be absolutely nothing, too, like you pointed out. I'm a Canadian, and as such know squat about the bell beyond it's name.
Also, what about the positioning of the missing stars? Trying to figure out how to word this to make sense... The positioning is what I'm after. Earlier, I'd offered up a constellation for all the stars...maybe only it's those four that are the constellation.

In regards to Mayan gods, the Sun god is Kinich Ahau, who shares many traits with Kukulcan (the Supreme god). The only star god in the Mayan culture I've found so far is Xaman Ek, who is, as Pantheon states:
Quote:
The snub-nosed Mayan god of the North Star. He is the protector and guide of merchants and traders. On altars erected on roadsides offerings where made to him.
I'm not sure how much weight that carries.

Hmm... now that I look at it... don't the first three missing stars from the left look a lot like Orion's Belt turned sideways?
I heard the Mayans worshiped it...

Yeah, I knew it wasn't POSTNET. I was just using it as an example to show that we aren't limited to just one type of barcode or a prescribed number of digits. The 11-digit code doesn't mean it's unreadable.
I'm trying to find a software codabar decoder to see what that produces.

As promised:
Barcode Sticker Scan
Letter Scan
(I didn't scan the envelope - I don't want my work address plastered about the internet. Postmarks, return address, and stamp are the same as SpaceBass's.)

Could there be any significance to the fact there is three of each sticker? They really would only need one of each, to point out the difference between the stars, and the Mayan numbering.

Thank you ScarpeGrosse!
Hmm.... does anyone notice that the second letter looks like it's written by someone else?
It doesn't seem like the same handwriting....
EDIT: I could be wrong, of course. It does seem the same now that I really look at it..

I have barcode reader software & because of the stars (I *think*) it isn't registering as a barcode at all for the software.

I'll try painting over the stars with MSpaint.
Hold on.

I found a freeware program called bcTester. It recognizes that there's a barcode. Unfortunately, I don't think it's sophisticated enough to do decoding.
Still working.

It's done. Maybe it'll scan this time:

If the stamp is placed exactly the same way on both envelopes, I'd think it's worth looking to. Why put a stamp on like that, not once but twice, and have no meaning attached to it?
