L3 New River University link

Has anyone tried the New River University link on the L3 site? There's a very interesting news story there about a professor who has discovered a lost painting at Rennes le Chateau of all places. Hmmm? ( shades of S4E)

Well, quite a bit of stuff here. There are quite a few faculty pages, but one for the Math department seems to have more detailed info:

http://www.nru.us/mathfac.htm

For what's it's worth.

Oooh, plus invites to the Grand Opening of the Physics Research Center! Wonder how we could scam some of those? Wink

If you click on A. St. Vincent's photo you can email him, just a thought.

just for a sanity check, I went to www.samspade.org, to see when the LLL pages were uploaded.
the aboutus page was uploaded/changed 14 hours ago - at 30 minutes past midnight GMT last night.

compare to the default.htm (home page) uploaded on Wednesday the 8th.
and the client.htm (which is no longer linked, but still on the server) uploaded on Friday the 3rd.

ps - the nru.us home page was last uploaded Monday evening.

So do you think we're supposed to email him?

there are dozens of e-mail addresses (including his) on the faculty pages. we might want to e-mail them all, and see if there are any auto-responders.

maybe on the first few, try to be inventive Smile ask the physics professors if we can show up to the grand opening, and then ask for directions Shocked

Yes...but I was thinking that since he has an "email" clickable picture, and that LLL is mentioned on the page about his "discovery", that he would be the one to contact.

There are about 35 email addresses, I think I'll try him first... Laughing

If nothing....then I'll try the others.

Emailed the Prof

Last night I emailed Dr. A. St. Vincent. I received a response today!

Mr/Ms. Dash Cat
Needless to say, the discovery has caused quite a stir within our circles. The
painting arrived safely on campus just prior to the new year. We are now in the midst
of testing it to verify it's authenticity and more accurately date the find.

I anticipate a more thorough report of our find will be forthcoming. The work, being
previously unknown, has no known history, so it's provenance is mysterious. We plan
to perform a full spectrum of tests and analyses.

Once the results are available, we plan to make them available on the university
website. The source of our funding has asked to be apprised of the results prior to
any publication. We will, of course, honor their request.

I can say that we found the painting very close to one of the basement walls of the
Bethanie House. I shudder to think that if the construction of the house had been 2
metres displaced, this work might have been carelessly destroyed.

Our funding for the expedition and dig was provided anonymously through a foundation
administered by the law firm of Landau, Luckman, and Lake. As I understand the
covenants of the foundation, the donors remain anonymous. Before they approached me
to conduct this dig, they were unknown to me.

Dear Dr. St. Vincent,

I read the article about your discovery of the painting at Rennes le
Chateau. I was hoping you could give me more information about the
painting and where in the Chateau it was found?

I was also wondering if you could give me some information about your
funding for this project?

Thank you for your time Dr.

Sincerely,
Dash Cat

I emailed him as well and got a response within about an hour. You'll have to excuse my note to him as this was a first for me and I wasn't exactly sure what to say...lol

Mr/Ms. Cemgate,
Thank you for your words of encouragement. The painting is a wonderful
discovery. My hope is that we can further our understanding of the mystery
surrounding Rennes-le-Chateau. The painting arrived safely on campus just prior
to the new year. We are now in the midst of testing it to verify it's
authenticity and more accurately date the find.

Dear Dr. St. Vincent,

Congratulations are in order! Your discovery is quite intriguing. I have
read much about Rennes-le-Chateaux, the Cathars, Templars, and Prieure de
Sion.

Your GRANt from LLL/Anonymous was well placed! I wish you much success in
future endeavors. Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Wonder if the consistently incorrect usage of an apostrophe in "its" is anything Shocked

Do NOT go all "Grrl-E-Grrl: Puzzles in the Punctuation!" on me, bro. Been there, done that. Still annoyed. Wink

Could this be Jake?

At http://www.nru.us/
"Construction is almost complete on the new College of
Science Physics Research Center "
At http://www.nru.us/physics.htm (highlighted)
"The new physics research center is almost complete. Grand Opening invitations will be sent out. Please join the College of Physic's Chairman Dr. Kristoff Zeladzny as he opens the most advanced physics research center in the world. See you there!" hmmm, an invitation?
At http://www.nru.us/physfac.htm the physics faculty page, there is a
" Jack Lumbly
Assistant Professor
Portable Trailer 104
JLumblySPLATnru.us "

Could this be the "Jake" seeking assistance?

Maybe this has already been mentioned(?). Frankly, I haven't read all the posts.

I'm NOT playing this game. Rolling Eyes

Just at the rim of the vortex, peering in,

Going from the clues on the NRU site such as the Security press release, I'd say that our mysterious Jake is a student of NRU who worked in some capacity for one of the departments listed and discovered something likely to do with them digging things up for their new Physics center).

I notice in the security press release it states one of their students was attacked. I think its a strong possibility that student was Jake who is now out there trying to get us a message about what's going on.

Problem is, Jake's hacking is just a little too efficient as we cannot find the failsafe.html document I believe he has left for us.

NRU site gone/updated

The old NRU homepage is gone. The page now shows an image of 5 chess pieces with the initials T.I.N.A.G. (this is not a game) underneath it.

www.thisisnotagame.com shows the same image.
