One of the beautiful things about Alternate Reality Gaming is that your reality doesn't need to coincide with everyone else's gaming. Perhaps this 'snitch' was an in-game character, and perhaps not. In any case, there is no rulebook, no right v. wrong in these types of games, imho. The tone of your message was mean, and certainly wasn't appreciated by me.

I believe the reason the chat with marty was called off because at first the room situation....secondly a chat I had with Marcus led a revealing tale that Marty was mad because he was not allowed to go into this chat alone without Marcus. Hence the following conversation. Also notice the unknown stranger arrives in this too.

Does it really matter either way? I mean, as I understand the game, it's SUPPOSTO blur the line between reality and the game. Perhaps this is a good thing that you don't know.

Me? I treat all the characters like real people. More fun that way. Smile

Phensley the chat you are referring to was a chat marty manson of ideltech (one of the 3 Amigos) just kind of threw at me at the last minute... gave me 2 hours to prepare for and then had to cancel because of the room situation and the fact Marcus wanted to be there.. But this other chat meeting is about a separate chat that we had to solve puzzles on http://bluelouboyle.com/ to find out about and it was with the Professor/Drexel.. Just wanted to clear that up in case someone got those 2 confused or mixed up.

Apologies in advance, once again, if this is not the kind of thing that's done here ... NEW, and I welcome private messages with suggestions for participating, if there are rules I'm breaking, etc.

Lots of discussion on another topic about marvin_nash2.jpg. First thing I did was look for a hidden file, and I did find one. Attaching here. I would have fessed up earlier, but I thought for sure someone else would post, and it's information we already have. Do keep it in mind for future reference, though.

BTW, what's considered off limits, where keywords/etc. are concerned? Is this forum "base", or can we be tagged here, too?

See you next Tuesday (SORRY. Twisted Evil Couldn't resist, especially given the content of the latest chat. My, oh, my!)

One thing to remember is that these people are entirely fictitious, being controlled by a group of people (in this case, led by Nash). If any pertinent information needs to be distributed, it'll be distributed one way or another.

So, don't do anything malicious, and use common sense. Other than that, it's up to you.

Pretty sure I can keep that bit straight, but just in case, I've posted a sticky on my screen ... "YOU: Real; COMPUTER PEOPLE: Entirely Fictitious" Wink

I'm more concerned about annoying the people here in the forum than I am in being called a See You Next Tuesday by the TV People; I'm having fun and want to learn more about this stuff, so trying to tread c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y.

Side note: I was just saying that IF people were snitching to please not. After all, it's only a game (I, myself use sticky notes). It's just that it's more fun for everyone if it's treated as real and foresight/intuition/tact are used when dealing with the characters. It would stink if Nash had to keep cancelling chats just because players openly email WR with something incriminating like "What did you have to do with TOBI and Ideltech? Why are you hacking into their system?" Not saying anyone did that. It could be that this is all staged by nash just to prevent anyone messing up for real in the future.

Extra sorry to Jamesi...and I'm sure it wasn't you, David...and you're right, Sunny, I was...and Lance, right on...and krysbabe, it's not that big a deal, and he was mean to use such profanity.

Actually, what I find fascinating is the unpredicatbility of these games, and the fact that puppetmasters can't plan things out ahead precisely because it would interfere with some preconceived storyline. This is like jazz, puppetmasters jam with players, and I think as long as you're playing something it's all good. Honestly, if hundreds of people were applyilng for a job and someone emailed warnings to all of them, someone would tell the company they were applying to. So it's more realistic that it happened this way. I don't think we should try and second guess what the puppet masters want from us, I think we should do whatever feels natural and leave it to them to sort it all out. FWIW.

the great thing about all of this is that the PMs are in control of what they allow to happen in the game. They can choose to act on the input of the player or they can choose not to. It is obviously a part of the game or else there wouldnt be a reaction to it. Everyone plays the game differently and have different sensibilities. If we all played the same it would be a much duller game. believe me.
I think that this message is much more tactful than the first and it should be remembered that if people treat the charecters tactfully then they should treat their fellow players with the same consideration.

and Littlelaksmi I wanted to welcome you to the game and no worries, I for one have suffered others with my faux paus and trouts so you are in good comany!!!!!

I think what jamesi was trying to say is that everyone playing this game is free to whatever action he or she likes, as long as it's in line with the environment of the game, and if that includes snitching on in-game characters, for me, that's entirely up to the decision of the player.

The PM's are there to mark off what can or can't be done, not the players. Who knows... maybe what happens next will be far more interesting than what would have happened if the chat yesterday did take place...
