What happened to the in-game website Projects?
Did they try and fail? Or did they try and die?

I've seen quite a few posts around Unfiction for ideas about in-game website projects. There seemed to be some pretty good ideas (news sites for PM posts, etc.) yet I've never seen the webites.

Does anyone (the idea creators or those interested) know what happened to these?

I'm interested in what the ideas were as well as what problems kept them from becoming a reality.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Space's new site

www.despoiler.org might be the place you are talking about.

No, not actually.

What I'm refering to are the ideas or attempts to create sites like-

1. In-game sites that have real news stories mixed with fictional PM created stories. The idea being that it adds legitimacy to the fictional story.

2. In-game sites that creators had hoped would be used by PMs for rabbit holes or in-game characters.

3. Other.

How about subscribing to RSS feeds from legitimate news sources. I know you can do that on blogspot.

Sorry, but what I'm looking for here is...

Anyone who has, or knows someone who has, tried to create an in-game website, please tell me...what happened? What did you try and why do you think it didn't work?

Although this site has a "Welcome" message that attempts to keep it's real purpose vague, the details of the front page alone shout "Out-of-Game".

Just refering to the names "Deus City" or "SaveMyHusband" is OOG is it not?

I think the problem is that if you create a website that can't be known to be out of game, then it would be considered a game-jack. The PM of whatever game(s) you intend to 'embrace' would have to either know your plan, or consider it not a threat and embrace it as well... otherwise the players need to know that it's not in-game as created by the PM, but rather an OOG site where the players go to and continue to remain 'in-game'.

The closest I can think of is the immersion unlimited forums where they wanted a place that characters of args could interact with players in an in-game fashion, without worrying about things such as UF's TOS - but the PMs first had to accept that IU would be a useful in-game tool. And players already knew that it 'belonged' to no arg, if only by the site's name.
