thanks Krystal:
Thanks so much for doing this. It's a big help to anyone who (like me) has not been able to keep up on a day-to-day basis with this game.

aware guide Thanks so much for doing this! It really helps. Hope you can stick with it.
Question: isn't the chat room #ruaware instead of #aware?

Thanks for putting together a guide! I did not get into AWARE at first, and it seems that now a lot of the interaction is ephemeral and requires slogging through log files: conversations through a variety of mediums. Add to that the fact that I do not generally give out my phone number (privacy zealot) or have an MSN account (anti-Microsoft zealot) and keep putting off digging through the hundred-or-so messages here...and you can see that I have been pretty far out of the loop and have a lot of catching up to do. So again, thanks! This makes things so much easier.

Krystal: Again, great work on the guide, thanks for putting effort into it. If it's the thing to pull BriEnigma into this, it is certainly a Good Thing already
(P.S. Welcome Brian )

Just a note that, despite Nash's saying sometime back that he was not going to visit the forum, that a link to krysbabe's guide has been posted at http://www.ruaware.org/intro.htm (plus a link to "swag", the coffee cups, etc.).

I think he said he wouldn't post in the aware section of the forums. It is generally expected that the PMs read player forums. On top of this he could have gotten the address from the IRC room or as the refering URL

Oh, ok, that makes sense.
Parenthetically, having read hundreds of posts now on unfiction, I have to say you all are some of the most polite and tolerant folks I've ever seen on a message board. There was only one bight-y comment and the author was only gently corrected, and then they quickly made up for their harsh-ish tone. It has made an atmosphere which allows a newbie like me to feel like I can try things out without fearing that the old timers are going to take my head off if I breach etiquette a little in the cutting teeth process. Props to you all for that.

It's because of the heavy sedation.
Seriously, this is a new genre and nobody has all the answers. I think most everyone realizes this, and even the craziest-sounding theories can garner some thoughtful conversation. Since puzzles can come in any form, it's beneficial to have a multitude of differing viewpoints working on any given game. Chasing off potential players (and future PMs) can only be detrimental to the community as a whole.
I am officially all out of $5 words now. More multi-syllabic philosophizing to come next payday.

I agree with Alan Link, you guys are really polite. Since many people out on the net and in society have bad social skills, I must say I have been positively surprised by all the support I´ve recieved from you. Thank you all, I daresay that I will spend my time on this forum in the future.

Oh, put a sock in it.
Actually, I've found the same. I'm used to a bit of a barb in my conversations, especially in chat rooms. Space, jamesi, and the others in a position of "authority" through one means or another (longevity, works, whatever) have effectively and appropriately made the area a "safe" zone. However, updating Groucho, any group that would let me in - I'm not sure you want to be a member...
