Some more tidbits to ponder.

From the Romanian Dictionary:

sănătos

adj healthy; hearty; pink; robust; ruddy; safe; salubrious; soundly; wholesome

Thomas Sanatos initials = T.S. (Elliot?)

Reference probably is just for fun, and not relevant to progressing the story.

But definitely the exchange between Sanatos and Bennett is probably the one to track. So far, I don't think trying to interact directly with ARG characters will yield any results.

Well his 3rd post was only after quite a few people had posted about the book, so it does seem that there may be some interaction to be had.

With regards to B. Bennett, I am currently inclined to believe it is another ARG player. Is there any way of checking to see when an Amazon account was created?

I guess the only way we can be sure is if Thomas replies to Bennett in a way that indicates he knows what Bennett is talking about. If he is just ignored or if Thomas replies 'WTF' (or something of the like) then we know Bennett is OOG.

Spelling error in contents, intentional?

I was just looking over the Contents page on Amazon, and a word which should obviously be 'Foreword' has been written as 'Forward'.
The page number for the 'Forward' is listed as viii (or eight).

It's possible it's just an honest spelling error, but if it's intentional it could be that it's supposed to direct us 'forward' to the eighth page viewable on Amazon, which has the diagram on it. Or it might be referring to something else.

Just a thought I had.

EDIT: Oops, looks like this was mentioned in the wiki already. Sorry.

I may have found something..although it's more likely a coincidence.
The title "Castaway theory" seemed suspicious to me, especially considering I really see no logical way for it to tie in with the text we can see in the book.

Running it through an anagram solver gave me "a hateworthy cytase"

Cytase, via dictionary.com:
Main Entry: cy·tase
Pronunciation: 'sIt-"As, -"Az
Function: noun
: any of several enzymes found in the seeds of various plants (as cereals) that have the power of making soluble the material of cell walls by hydrolyzing mannan, galactan, xylan, and araban

I have no idea. I haven't gotten much sleep.

Joanne Sanatos doesn't come up with anything in anagram form. Neither does Castaway Gap.

Probably insignificant, but the page number in the book is back up to 93, rather than 3, and i can't seem to access any of the random pages anymore.

Also Mr. Bennett posted again, I think he's talking just a little bit informal to be a player.

[spec]

I haven't seen in this thread anyone talking about the first 2 pages of text. It's an interesting read... it talks about reexamining old data using new technology.

If this is relevant, was there some tool (a program, a book, the prizes from opening the first 3 servers...) that we need to use to crack open the next server? I haven't opened a server yet so i don't know if there's anything useful there..

Or it could be a way of saying that we missed the clues to open server 3 and got lucky to find the link on Halo3 website.

i know it's been mentioned that the ISBN number is the IP address for the first opened server, and that every thing appears to be the same. But has anyone tried RE downloading the files and opening them to look for a change, or running a steno on them to see if they're new?

reevaluate

sounds like a good idea. if you read the pages from Castaway Theory, it talks about re evaluating old theories using new technology. Sounds like bungie has put some new content in the old servers downloads. Just spec though.

Also, the first comment on the book about chapter 7, and it mentioning the "Song of Roland" which is about the ambush or battle of Roncevaux Pass on August 15, 778...also in one of the posts on the books forum, someone mentions a holiday that appears to be related to amelia earheart that takes place on august 15.

Perhaps we shouldn't throw the person who made the first comment out completely as being OOG simply because the book doesn't have a chapter 7.

7 is a recurring bungie number after all.

update

i just went to server 1 again. I clicked the link, and before it went to the server, a message flashed. It was only less than a second. All i could get was something about an update. I did it again just in case it was my computer, and the message flashed again. Could someone get the entire message?

Could you be more specific on the link? I'm looking at the server, but so far I have found nothing.

can you explain the circumstances of the error, if we can't get it then it's probably just an error on your part.
