Remember that this is not supposed to be a ARG. We should be as discrete as possible and not share information obtained with in-game characters. For Example. I don't think it's a wise idea to tell Clifford worley that we hacked into Melody's account and she is researching him. IT forces him to retaliate by getting restraining orders, ETC..

I have to disagree with that only because the game evolves with the decisions we make.. and wheres the fun in playing it safe waiting around for things to happen. I say shake it, mix it up and see where the pieces fall!

I agree with all of you. Shaking things up is fun but being discrete is important too. I removed myself from Melody's Research group.

Everyone's entitled to play the way they feel gives them the best experience, but (imvho) ARGs aren't meant to be looked at as a game we're playing. Well developed characters will react to player decisions/interactions as if they were indeed living, breathing people (at least as much as possible).

All I was trying to point out was that unless some trust had been established between someone and Melody, to me it would highly unlikely that she'd "throw open the doors" to her research area just because someone she doesn't know asked her to.

I also stated that I could be completely off base with this...I mean if she truly didn't want anyone getting in by changing the password, her high school BF was a pretty simple "personal reminder" .

I'm just curious as to what her reaction will be? Shocked

(A very big WTH I would guess....but we'll see...wouldn't be the first time I was wrong)

Very Happy

You're right, she didn't like it. But you're also right that people are entitled to play the way they see fit. Unfortunately, I saw fit to go in there and accept everyone's invitations on their behalf, instead of letting them handle their own. Those who want off the list should take themselves off the list.

I'm going to stay on, since I'm curious ... and also since it was me who did the accepting.

Excuse me, but who are you people, and how did you manage to get into this account? This is for my private notes, none of you should be here! How did you get into my account? How did you change the password? What you did is illegal!

Okay, having one in-game character mad at you is funny. Having two in-game characters mad at you in pre-game no less is hilarious. Well done!

Look, someone here obviously hacked my password and accepted you all. One of you must have told that nasty professor about my private notes. You should have heard the language he used! I thought his head would explode. Do you know he put out a restraining order on me because of my private notes? No one was supposed to see those. NO ONE! You have seriously compromised my ability to effectively report the news in Amboy!

Thank you ever so much for your help, if I had your kind of help at the Round Up Café we'd never have to wash the dishes because they would all be broken by the end of the day! Are you proud of yourselves for breaking into my account and sharing information that wasn't yours to share? You can bet I will tell Marcus about it. I am certain he would not want to hire people who would just waltz into someone else's account, change the password and give out private information.

Not to mention that you have hurt my credibility with my friends and fellow residents of Amboy. They all want to know why the Police were at my house. They sent both cars, they sent both cars like I was some common criminal who would cause trouble! I have always tried to serve Amboy in the way I was able, and now, now everyone thinks of me as some tarnished piece of trash.

Now if you will excuse me I am going to go have a good cry.

I emailed both Melody and Marcus at ideltech concerning the fact I had told Roddington about the contents on Melodys Research site. I have not received a reply from Melody but I have from Marcus.. Contents below:

Krystal,
To say I am shocked is an understatement. Actually I am pretty upset. I had very high hopes for you. And the thoughts of you managing other people scares me now.
I will say something's you have expressed to me I have hope for though. You stated what you have done, and not tried to hide the truth from me. This is commendable. You were capable of finding information in what you saw as holes in the complete picture. Very good asset for our business. You also state I was right about the professor. You might be the only one who truly knows this. Lastly, you made dinner from scratch. A truly wholesome value I find admirable.
Now here are somethings which make me worry. You decided to withdraw you application without consulting me. I can do this for you, but there are other ways to approach your delema. Like, asking me if withdrawing would be appropraite in this case. You need to let others guide you, and trust the right people. You said you let it "slip" to the professor about the page. How is that possible. The content must have been foremost on your mind. I can not except you "slipped" especially after you stated you were trying to gain his trust. Which brings me to my next point. Why do you want the trust of a man who has commited countless crimes and acts of violence against someone obviously handicapped like the transient on the bus? This seems like poor judgement. You seem very capable to me, that is why I thought you may be able to manage people. After this, Jude and Marty are concerned with my judgement of character. I guess we both have a problem in judgement of character.
I urged them to allow you to continue being an applicant. I said during that time you will be under my watchful eye. I don't want anymore association at all with the doctor, and I do have ways to find out. I want to let you knwo you are a probationary applicant at this point. The probationary status translates to anymore issues and we will drop your application. I will talk to Ms. Heller and attempt to smooth things over. My attorney is already helping her and we believe the court order can easily be lifted under first ammendment protection. Do NOT try to make things better by trying to get more information on Roddington. Leave him alone and focus on the work we have ahead of us.

Re: probationary status

Yikes... Kind of a rocky start, there...

Still, this could be a good thing. While Marcus, et al. is keeping an eye on Krysbabe, it could be a good opportunity for the rest of us to slip underneath the radar, so to speak, as long as we don't attract attention to ourselves. Smile

Melody stuff

Send an email to Melody on 5 Apr (will post if anyone wants to read it, but I'll summarize the gist for now), saying that I was the one to accept all the Melody's Research join requests. Told her the reason I did so was because I saw the source code on the FnG page and wanted to know more about the Prof, so logged into her site using her pw and then accepted my own request so I could get back in ... on a whim, I accepted everyone else's too, though nobody had asked me to. Told her I wanted to know more about the Prof because he is contacting people who have applied to ITech, and he's creepy.

Got no reply.

IMed Marcus on 6 Apr asking that he mention to Melody the next time he spoke with her that I'm sorry and will do whatever I can to help her out, though I know the cow has left the barn, yadda yadda yadda.

Only thing from that chat that's might be important is the following:

MarcusThesburg: Ok, I will try to smooth things out with Melody for you.
MarcusThesburg: I think what you need to do is actually befriend her.
...
MarcusThesburg: You see, a reporter is your eyes and ears. You can ask them anything, and if it is a good enough question, they will find out.
...
MarcusThesburg: The funny thing is, the bigger media groups are getting wind of all of this. They are starting to make Ideltech look like "bad guy" some how.

GypsychkKC: I hate to say this, but you have a government contract in an election year. Was bound to happen. Find out how to use it to your advantage.
GypsychkKC: Have Melody help ... "no press is bad press"
MarcusThesburg: I am trying, but after the capture of Saddam this is getting less attention.
MarcusThesburg: I know, but Melody is VERY small press.

Spoke to Melody today on the phone, and she sounds very sweet and sad about all of this. Possible important things I can remember from the conversation (didn't take notes, and had to run out right afterward):

- She doesn't know anything about Prof's wife, and I don't think even knew her name when I asked about it being "Virginia". She didn't know him, even though he was the ITech guys' professor.
- Even though there's a restraining order against her, she still plans to investigate the Prof.
- She said she's dating Marcus. In a follow-up chat, Marcus said she's not his girlfriend.
- She wanted to know more about who was contacted by the Prof, and what he wanted (in response to my saying that contact from the Prof was why I wanted to know more about him).

Freakishly, she did not mention the Round Up Café once. If I think of anything else that might be important, I'll edit this post.
