I don't see anything about an update there, or on the server 1 page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrrhic

A pyrrhic is a metrical foot used in formal poetry. It consists of two unaccented, short syllables.[1] It is also known as a dibrach.

Tennyson used pyrrhics and spondees quite frequently. Here are some examples:

Be near me when my light is low,

When the blood creeps and the nerves prick
And tingle; and the heart is sick,

And all the wheels of Being slow.

-from In Memoriam.

Example above include "When the" and "and the" in the second line and "-le; and" in the third.

Pyrrhics alone are not used to construct an entire poem due to the monotonous effect.[2]

So, somebody want to do the grunt work to find out if this means anything in the poem?

From Thomas' comments

It's been over a year and a half! Not much time in the cosmic scheme of things, I know, but it feels like forever.Joanne and I lit a candle for you the other night. It's become a tradition every time we make Sunday evening pasta. We miss having you over for dinner, there are too many leftovers now! LOLI don't know what happened to all the other notes that used to be in this area. I guess when the book sold-out everyone's comments got deleted. Don't worry though, no one has forgotten about you.Stay strong Jonas, wherever you are.

I wonder could we look at cached pages of this site and see if they hid any messages there and deleted them? seems like thomas might be hinting at that.

"This is clearly the work of a madman, a lunatic, and I mean that in the best possible way. Human history is reclaimed from outdated notions that serve only as a forerunner to Volman's muddled, occasionally sloppy, but always compellling work. Had this book had a wider release, I am confident it would have sent shockwaves throughout the scientific community--Golden Wing Books, please reprint this important tome, or at least make more pages available through Amazon. I am certain humanity could benefit from learning more about the contents herein."

"Human history is reclaimed from outdated notions that serve only as a forerunner to Volman's muddled, occasionally sloppy, but always compellling work."

Would it mean anything useful? Also, he spelled compelling with 3 l's.

"that serve only as a forerunner"

If I am not mistaken, Forerunner is a race of alien from Halo..

Their use of words is quite strange.

This book is a real mind-bender! It proposes a new way to look at humanity's evolution (I won't spoil it for you). Check this book out, and make sure to spend extra time reading chapter 7... it contains an excellent interpretation of the medieval classic "Song of Roland."

I read it and I googled the Song Of Roland, and on the wiki page it talks about a sword name Durendal, which, most probably by design, is almost identical to Durandal, which was the true enemy in Bungie series, Marathon, This is most probably a nod to the game, or maybe...Adjunt Reflux is Durandal I will still look around

Thomas Sanatos has responded to a normal user's postings in "Wow!"

A puzzle in a game? What type of game? I am quite the puzzle fanatic you know.

As to your second questions - No, I am not a member of the Society of the Ancients. I know about the group because Jonas was friends with one of the founders, David George. I believe they grew up together.

I wish I could give you a better answer to this question, but none exists.
Jonas has been missing since November 2005. No one knows where he is.

Quote:
I can't think of any reason Jonas would hide something in the book? If anything, Jonas stove to make things more obvious, not hide them.

EDIT: link and quotes

I am rather unsure as to how to exactly word this thought... please bear with me.

Does anyone find it curious that, when asked about SOTA, he replied with "I knew about the group BECAUSE...", despite the fact that he did not previously acknowledge he knew about the group other than the fact that he was not part of it? It seemed rather... unnatural to jump to that conclusion so quickly.

With this knowledge, we can easily come to two conclusions. Jonas is either:

1) Being held hostage at Microsoft as a threat to the intellectual community to stop propagating the lie that video games are bad for you

2) Being held hostage by Apple, because... well... Apple is cool like that.

[/humor]

Just pointing out that in the thread entitled "Wow" on Amazon, Thomas says ... "is Is it being taught in University?" which is a distinctly un-American phrase. With my extensive experience and research (playing XBL) I've noticed that Australians speak like this, and I think that british kiddies do too... just pointing it out because maybe this Thomas feller is not from el americo

That is a completely valid phrase with no regionalism, where are you getting this from?
