[OOG] Ganu Yoshida my main dude? I found this on another forum and thought it would be interesting
Quote:
just signed up to this forum and my intial searches didn't seem to find this information posted yet, so my apologies if this is already common knowledge.
When reading the history of Slusho, I noticed the mention of Noriko Yoshida's brother, Ganu.
When I type in www.GanuYoshida.com into my web browser, it takes me to an image of two people. The web page title is "My Main Dude", which is a line from the trailer. Kind of a coincidence.
The image is hosted by harvardlampoon.com and the phone number on the asian guy's arm is to the Harvard Lampoon's general mailbox.
I guess it's possible that this is just a red herring set up by the Harvard Lampoon as a joke. I was reading elsewhere that there's some information in the trailer regarding a non-existent fraternity. If this image was set up by the producers of the film, perhaps there may be a future tie-in between the image and the fraternity? Or perhaps they will edit the phone number to a different one with more information.

just called the number. Here's a transcript of the conversation (more or less):
Guy: Lampoon.
[He sounded really serious]
Me: Hello?
(silence)
Me: I got your number from ganuyoshida.com.
Guy: What?
[I thought I dialed the number wrong]
Me: I got your number from a website.
Guy: A website?
Me: Yes.
Guy: What website?
[I felt silly saying it again]
Me: Ganuyoshida.com.
Guy: This is the Harvard Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu.
[At this point I recognized the AKM reference but didn't let on]
Me: Oh. Like a fraternity?
Guy: This is the office of Alpha Kappa Mu.
Me: Where are you located?
(silence)
Guy: Can I help you?
Me: Uh...
[I tried to think of something to say that would work]
Guy: I can send you some promotional materials.
Me: That would be great.
[I gave him my address]
Me: Can you tell me anything about your organization?
Guy: (hangs up)
I think this is legit. It sounded very cryptic and weird and fitting with Cloverfield. I did some research on the Harvard Lampoon and they're a comedy magazine at Harvard, but also apparently some kind of secret society. They have a castle that no one's allowed into (see their wiki page for pictures). I'll keep you all posted.
whois says the page was registered the first week in july what do you guys think?
edited to change tag to reflect the site is out of game ~rose

ganuyoshida.com is OOG. Confirmed. That guy just called the Harvard chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu (honor society was it?). He'll just get their promotional material. He probably just got a ticked off desk clerk.

The 18th of July hardly qualifies as the first week.

Fact is, there's nothing mentioned there that we wouldn't have already known at that point in time. it's an attempt at gamejack. Although, I would like to know about the brochure you're going to receive <.<

Headless Penguin Anyone notice that if you look at the image at full size (either by viewing the page with no style, or by saving the image) the guy on the left has a headless penguin on his shirt? Obviously this is the clue that will break this whole thing open...Penguin Attack! (cue Gwar music)

hm I could of sworn it said the 4th or something when I did it. It seems like something the harvard lampoon would take the effort to do(they once stole the chair of the head of a rival magazine and presented it as a gift to the prime minister of iceland) The person whose prost i took this from posted their telephone conversation on friday hopefully they'll report back soon. Still healthy discussion material about this alleged ARG.

The call sheet uses an address that belongs to National Lampoon, which, I believe, is an offshoot of Harvard Lampoon. Not sure if there's a connection other than that, though. So, anyways:
GanuYoshida.com = Harvard Lampoon
call sheet = National Lampoon

I´m a spanish speaker so i'll try to make myself clear....
did anyone search for Noriko Yoshida?
I found this page http://ccs.cla.kobe-u.ac.jp/GenBun/ny/ny.html
I don't understand Japanesse, but look at the main picture...
Was a Matisse painting called "Les bętes de la mer" that's "The beasts of the sea"...
Any opinion?

Is it possible to fake registry date info? If not, isn't it possible the clovesquad is watching us all and occassionally thinking "dag, this would be a killer addition to the virus, let's do it"? I think JJ pulled a seinfeld on this movie, personally.

Alta Vista Babel Fish translates the first page (next to the image) as:
The Kobe university international cultural university departments and graduate schools comprehensive human science postgraduate course Yoshida Noriko laboratory

Did you do a whois search for this page? Posting the date the website began is the threshold test for trying to prove that it's an IG site.
That being said, I don't think it's IG unless the whole Kobe University is in on it, because you can get to Noriko Yoshida's page by searching through the researchers from the link on the home page. While possible, I'm thinking its unlikely.
