[META]Hacking
DON'T.

Everybody seems to be bringing up the idea of hacking a website, for example; slusho, and NYU's actual website. The answer to this is, NO. Nobody on this forum is going to want to help you brute force a website because you can't wait long enough to play the ARG fairly. You brute forcing a website could cause security issues and make them consider pulling out of the Abrams film. This means that Abrams may have to redo a scene, which will cost him more money, and time.
Also, the chances that you will find anything while brute forcing is slim, chances are that they do not upload any information, or images until the day they intend to release them. In other words, DO NOT DO IT. It is useless, and if succeeded at, could ruin the entire ARG for several people who may be on the verge of finding something.

Also: Telling people that you are going to brute force(a illegal act, known as invasion of privacy) is a bad idea. All it would take is Abrams searching through random fan forums to find it and have it "taken care of" it is not as hard to track your IP as you may think. On top of that, even if you are using a proxy, they can track the IP that you registered your Email with. The chances that you used a proxy with both are slim.

the last thing a real hacker would do is post in a forum about it.

yea 1 or 2 people have said "lets hack" like if its as easy as what they see on tv... doesnt mean an entire forum is up for it

not a necessary topic imo most people here no its a big no no

I don't agree that "everybody" is bringing up the idea of hacking a website.
No harm in pointing out what a bad and counterproductive idea it is though. Smile

Thanks Rose, and i didn't mean "everybody" in the literal sense. But thanks for agreeing that it's a bad idea.
