Again, this is a pretty odd response for a movie character to make nowadays. Blatantly homophobic characters are pretty much non-existent unless they're supposed to be thugs. These stereotyped characters, so far, have been going down a relatively PC road, what with the Hillary supporters and all. Given that, the response by HUD is a bit out of (assumed) character, don't you think? Suppose he wrote that comment to someone who happened to be gay and that person was particularly sensitive and took offense? Not a smart move, if you ask me--could pose some problems for Paramount. It may be a realistic response, perhaps, but the PC police have set pretty strict boundaries for what's acceptable in films these days--there's no way that they'd ever let a lead character be like that in the movie unless it was a bad guy.

"gayboy fantasy" isn't bigotry it's the truth. 300 was muscled, oiled dudes wrestling with one another (and from my understanding that movie features a big helping of penis). If that's not homoerotic I don't know what is. Calling it gay seems pretty right on to me. Gay isn't a bad word.

Hud: I saw some footage of the stuff they showed at comic-con, and I gotta tell you, it looks awesome. I dunno about John Favreau though... I mean, look how that hack Tim Story ruined the Fantastic Four franchise.

Could you ask him what footage was that or what particular stuff? So far I have no luck in getting them to reply, I think they are avoiding me.

Hud's "gayboy" reference probably is homophobic, and not just calling a spade a spade.

Someone who is a familiar with gay culture (not everyone in NY is) might call 300 a gayboy fantasy--and even then be risking offense--but Hud? Here's this conversation with Hud, posted a few pages back:

yo hudson. why arent you friends with lena? i think if you turned up your game, you could tap that ass! hell yea son, get at it. bring her to the naked foyer, if you catch my drift. OF COURSE YOU DO!

And he replied back:

"haha, i've been trying, man"

That message gets a positive response from Hud. I think it may be appropriate to characterize Hud as a bit homophobic, and perhaps even thuggish.

NEW CHARACTER MYSPACE??!!

So I went ahead and messaged (M)Sgt Rodney Dean, the guy who left the first comment on Jamie's blog and had the "interesting" page and blog. Conversation has gone thusly.

Me: Hey, I saw you left a post on Jamie Lascano's blog. You know her? How about Rob Hawkins and Hud and them?
==TJ==

(M)Sgt. Rodney Dean: Yeah, I know her through my wife. I've become acquainted with the rest through Jamie.

That's the extent of what I've got so far, but from the looks of it he's IG. Any ideas on where to go next?

I actually though of that myself. I messaged him back just to mess with him and said "What's wrong with being gay man?"

He responded "Nothing at all! I just thought the movie had a little too much slow-mo washerboard abs for my taste. "

Rank

I noticed the rank on his main picture is wrong. He calls himself a (E-7) Master Sergeant, but his pic has the rank of a Tech Sergeant (E-6). It's not that hard to believe he earned the extra stripe, but hasn't "pinned" it on yet. It's about the average rank for someone that's been in as long as he's said he has.

Edit: He being (M)Sgt Rodney Dean, who commented on Jamie's blog.

I doubt he is IG. I talked a girl that commented similarly on one of the characters pages. I messaged her and she played along like she knew Jamie but eventually she admitted she was OOG.

From the mind of JJ

Abrams thinks to himself...(Hmm, I have this movie coming out in a couple months, but no real way to with the fans until then. I know! I'll make MySpace pages for the movie characters! They won't really do anything, other that answer questions that have nothing to do with the movie. That should hold them for a while.)

Re: Rank

Tinag222: You'd asked about checking out the other friends. I posted here that I wasn't able to find anyone who was friends with all seven, although I did find one sixer (who seems to be a little girl living in Cali with a private account), and there may be others.

Also, the good Sgt. was one of the folks posting video comments when the myspace accounts were first discovered. His comments were erased along with all the other OOG comments.

Interaction with Rob

ok, Ive been mostly lurking....but wanted to post my interaction with Rob...

I needed to write an old fashioned book report for my American Authors class...so I messaged Mr Hawkins himself on what he thought...
Here it is

Quote:
I never read that one. I've only read Still Life With Woodpecker and Villa Incognito. Loved them both, and I look forward to reading more of his work.

Rob,

Im trying to hunt down people who have read any of Tom Robbins books. Which ones have you read? Ive got a term paper coming up in my American Authors class and thought about doing it on " Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas"...What do you think?

Jennifer

So naturally I went hunting around for the plots on those two books were...

Quote:
Still Life with Woodpecker is sort of a love story that takes place inside a pack of Camel cigarettes. It reveals the purpose of the moon, explains the difference between criminals and outlaws, examines the conflict between social activism and romantic individualism, and paints a portrait of contemporary society that includes powerful Arabs, exiled royalty, and pregnant cheerleaders. It also deals with the problem of redheads.

and for Villa Incognito

Quote:
Once upon a time, a satyr-like Japanese badger-spirit seduced and impregnated a mortal. Many generations later (two or so years into the present century), an infant descendent arrives in the U.S., promising a more joyful, mystical, nature-loving future for all Americans. This is the story of how the child/creature got here with the unwitting help of three Vietnam-era Army deserters living in the title Laotian villa, where they traffic illegally in medicinal heroin. These nefarious smart-asses are heroes, according to our author, who invests them and his narrative with mischievous, sexy, and subversive humor. Crisp-toned Barrett Whitener totally buys into the romp, unintimidated by the overrich vocabulary and mystical esoterica. He does an astonishing job impersonating the Asian characters. When the text runs out of steam near the end, he perks it up. Thanks to Whitener, staying tuned through the end is a pleasure. Y.R. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award

Ill sent another response as to which of the two he would recommend...and Ive also sent him a lateral riddle comment...Ill post more if he responds

Maybe it's just like Claire Bennet's (the cheerleader from "Heroes") MySpace ( http://www.myspace.com/clairebennet ). Where she interacts with people/fans and acts like a "real" person, but doesn't really provide any useful information. The only real purpose of it just seems to provide fans with a way to interact with one of the characters from the show.

Also, still no response from Lil on her pictures - I hope this isn't the end of the road for me!

Someone ate my last snickers ice cream bar. The only thing getting me through a horrible day at work was knowing I had a cold delicious snickers ice cream bar waiting for me at home. Any idea who might've taken it? By the by, what were you up to yesterday? Lying around the apt as usual...?

You wanna accuse me of something, Platt, be a man and say it. But I'll tell you right now, I didn't eat your crappy snickers bar. Or your shitty french bread pizza!
