[SPEC] Movie: The Title
simply 1-18-08?

Hey everyone. I don't know if this has been brought up before or if there's an existing thread discussing this, but I have a few points/ideas to bring up about the title of this film.

First off, I personally believe that this movie will be called exactly what it's been called, even in the trailer; 1-18-08. We can tell, after looking at that photos on 1-18-08.com, the movie takes place that day. We also know that Abrams wants to create a gritty, "real" feel. The movie itself is supposed to be footage found after the monster attack, much like the premise of The Blair Witch Project. I think simply calling the movie "1-18-08" adds even more to the reality of the film. And even on top of all this, this date is burned into our brains. How could anything they call it ever replace the mysterious "1-18-08"?

Let me know what you think. This is simply my opinion, and I'm interested to hear yours. Personally I hope that they stick with 1-18-08 as the title.

i would be fine with it if it was the title,

though ive been less and less interested in possibly figuring out the title now and more and more with what or how the monster came about.

It's an interesting opinion, but I sort of doubt it. Abrams has been talking about releasing the title to the public forever, just to show it is was it always has been would be pretty... cruel.

Also, I'm not sure this deserves its own thread, this has been posted before. Try this thread.

To be fair, abrams wants a monster film..and if he wants it to be as popular as godzilla, he will need to name the movie after the monster.

Why then...

If 1-18-08 would be the title then why would they go to the trouble of makeing all kinds of diffrent production titles even after the first trailer: Cheese, Chocolate Outrage. Then some things still say slusho... not to mention the origional Cloverfield. It doesnt add up to me.

[Humor]

Cheese ... chocolate ...

Clearly the movie's going to be called "Fondue -- the Monster!" LOL! Laughing

Seriously, though, it's also been codenamed Slusho and The Parasite.

I thought about the uses of the letter 'C' until I realized:

C is for cookie. That's good enough for me.

I heard from a friend in the UK that just saw Transformers, and the Cloverfield trailer being shown over there says "IN THEATERS 2008" not "IN THEATERS 1-18-08"

I would think that this might rule out "1-18-08" as the title.
