I could not agree more. The movie should be called 1-18-08 . Thats what we all know it as. I would even accept Cloverfield as the name, but they would have to make it relevent. (which i doubt will happen)
I dont think there going to call it 1-18-08. I dont. But Im really HOPING they do. If they dont use that, it will most likely be named after the monster itself.

COBRA as C a older code name i remember COBRA being a codename for the movie before the trailer cameout. i found it on a article when i was trying to find out "What was that wierd trailer about",around early July. that article also said they later stoped using it because it gave out to much information and now use the name CLOVERFIELD as we know. IM AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS BIAS OR FAKE. but if its true the monster might have scales(lizard, snake, etc).
AS OF NOW IM TRYING TO FIND THAT ARTICLE AGAIN AS WE SPEAK

Supposedly, there is already a movie in the works titled "Colossus". It's to be directed by Ron Howard and is supposed to be a remake of the 1970 sci-fi classic "Colossus: The Forbin Project". If J.J. Abrams is looking for an original monster, then surely he would want a more original movie title -- especially with a remake due to be released in 2010.

What guy? I've never read/seen that. I could be behind though.
Why would he be pointing to Colossus of the X-men? Grigori Rasputin is who comes to find first to me. And he is not only fictionally linked to the X-men, He opens the gate that Hellboy comes through in that comic.

Nope. Harry specifically said, "Go ask Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin."
That's Colossus.

What if ... the Colossus reference by AICN's Harry Knowles to the X-Men character is a clue -- not to the movie's title, but perhaps to the nature of the moster. What if the monster has some properties that are similar to Colossus' powers? What if the monster were made from organic steel or something like it?
Might also explain the X-Men references in J.J. Hawkins' myspace.

ahhh c'mon
with thinking in this ways it would be a living cloud released by desmond in lost (remember he turned the key^^), fitting to all this slusho sea ingredience stuff that activates this aggresive microbiological opponent to the passiv ones omfg
i dont want to defend my theorie like i take this arg to serious, but if you really ask yourself, you will have to agree that in all this different lines of names theories.......
found, cthulhu and so on colossus still is the most realistic of all,
even knowing that ron is making the remake of the forbin project
since the word colossus got used by the greek,
it stands for the big, really big things,
sometimes even bigger than the god's
the link to the xmen character has nothing to do with similar properties to that

The only link to the X-Men character came from Harry Knowles of AICN when he hinted about the title of the movie, which post has been recently removed.
He specifically referred to Colossus of the X-Men when talking about the title of the Cloverfield project.

I've always hoped that the title be "1-18-08", it works perfectly. In fact, when I first saw the trailer I thought that was the title (in addition to the release date). It would be such a cool title for a movie, it fits in with the style (because people often categorize home movies by dates) and to me it sounds as epic as "Godzilla" so why not? Why should some disappointed fans stop J.J. from just naming the movie 1-18-08??
