Again, this is a pretty odd response for a movie character to make nowadays. Blatantly homophobic characters are pretty much non-existent unless they're supposed to be thugs. These stereotyped characters, so far, have been going down a relatively PC road, what with the Hillary supporters and all. Given that, the response by HUD is a bit out of (assumed) character, don't you think? Suppose he wrote that comment to someone who happened to be gay and that person was particularly sensitive and took offense? Not a smart move, if you ask me--could pose some problems for Paramount. It may be a realistic response, perhaps, but the PC police have set pretty strict boundaries for what's acceptable in films these days--there's no way that they'd ever let a lead character be like that in the movie unless it was a bad guy.

"gayboy fantasy" isn't bigotry it's the truth. 300 was muscled, oiled dudes wrestling with one another (and from my understanding that movie features a big helping of penis). If that's not homoerotic I don't know what is. Calling it gay seems pretty right on to me. Gay isn't a bad word.

That's odd, seeing as how it never once shows a penis as you claim it does, yet shows multiple breast shots. Yeah, sounds pretty gay to me...

Hud listed LOST as one of his favorite television shows (on his myspace profile). So, you could mention seeing J.J. Abrams at the SD convention, as part of this 'comparing of notes.' Don't know what you'll get from it, but it would be interesting to see if Hud responds at all.

Although this could be a big step, I'm kinda worried about doing it. "You like Lost? I heard JJ was down at SD talking about something. What was it?"
Worlds collide.

Sorry to backtrack a little.

I wouldn't mention any direct links w/Cloverfield. Imagine you're in a parallel universe, where everything is exactly the same as this one, except... no "cloverfield" movie. Slusho! exists, b/c Hawk mentioned it in his blog, but none of The Seven seem to be responding to Slusho! questions, so treat that as a 'sensitive' topic.

So, ask anything you want (w/in this alternate reality where the MOVIE doesn't exist).

I was just wondering what a mere mention of "J.J. Abrams" would get as a response - and, HUD is the guy to ask, b/c he listed LOST as a fav. show. And, you can "afford" (w/in the context of your conversation so far) to mention J.J. Abrams b/c you're talking about ComiCon. So, stick to that 'parallel universe' model and, chat away!

If this whole thing is a kind of 'lateral riddle,' then we won't find out anything w/direct questions - that's the whole point of a lateral riddle. They're called "lateral" riddles because you can't hope to solve them head-on; you just ask questions in order to flesh out the 'backstory' and, eventually, the "answer" reveals itself.

I do agree about keeping within bounds but with respect to the Lost/Abrams avenue, it would be hysterical if you engaged Hud in a chat and asked if he played the Lost ARG....and then eventually inviting him to play one!

That would be just too awesome....Hud shows up at UF to play in an ARG on here! lmao.

The thought of Hud joining in on this forum gives me a Slusho headache (and those are HUGE!).

Still, HUD would be the kind of guy (out of the Seven) who would be interested in ARGs. And, it would make sense to ask him about the LOST Experience, but I doubt we'd get anything useful.

I still say the best strategy at this point (since we don't even know whether this is ARG or marketing), is to ask questions that are designed to reveal more backstory, about the characters - their relations, their likes/dislikes, their jobs, etc. If it's just marketing, then we'll get the most out of it (..sort of... Bang Head ); if it's an ARG, then we'll have amassed a lot of info. Consider it a kind of Pascal's Wager... "J.J.'s Wager."

In that regard, I think we should take our cue from the myspace blogs - for instance, in both Lily's and Hawks' most recent blog entires, they both invited questions/comments/discussion -

Lily's: "Has anyone else heard any good snippets lately?"

Hawk's: "Who do you recommend? One of these three? Someone else?"

So, these would be obvious topics of message-conversation.

It would be great, though, if you could get HUD talking about LOST and, then, about the LOST Experience.

You: Maaan, that JJ Abrams is one creative dude, doncha think?

Hud: Uh...who?

Mr. Green

In light of that

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You can always tell him you have a friend who'd reeeally love to see a pic of JJ without his shirt on...and wet...wet would rule too...and see if he'll get ya one for me! Then you wouldn't be lying because I'd be your best friend for life!! ;-p

hehe - nice spoiler, tinag222.

And, yeah, I'm guessing that "Uh... who?" is the sort of response you'd get. Still, he did acknowledge LOST on his myspace profile, so it would be 'unnatural' for him to totally ignore/deny J.J. Abram's existence.

One way to get around to J.J. Abrams w/Hud might be to go through Joss Whedon - Hud's a big fan, after all.

So, you could ask Hud how he thinks Buffy would hold up against something like... Godzilla? Or, if he heard anything at ComiCon about Firefly (will there be a new series?). And, while you're at it - you can ask him if heard anything about LOST season 4? or, for that matter, whether he heard of anything new that J.J. might have coming up in the 'pipeline'?

Also, you could tell him that the ship from Firefly (the "Serenity") flies overhead in the BSG miniseries (at the start of the scene where Laura Roslin gets told she has cancer). That might win some points w/him.

I'd ask him, but he won't talk to me. In fact, apart from Beth & Rob...

Awww....don't feel bad. I'm not either, but then I deleted the one page I used initially just checking if they were adding. I did revamp 2 others but one was already laced with everything cloverfield so I'm not surprised they rejected that one. The other one, who knows....there's nothing on it and it's new so I can't play regardless unless one of them ultimately adds that one. They might add it next round. If so, I'll jump in when it picks up some with more interesting interaction.

Shallow chat about "so what's yer sign" or "wow, I really like this book" bored me half to death IRL - I can't quite bring myself to do it with

I agree with their invitations for discussion. When i first started, i sent a message to beth about her favorite movies and my possible move to NYC. I felt like such a fool asking a 20-something year old girl (who is in reality a 40-something year old balding male) about her movie choices out of the blue. I think these have been posted so that people will feel more involved to relate with them as normal people.

Oh, does that ever make sense! I'm sure I don't have to tell a fellow dem that there aren't a ton of minds like us in Texas. Hence the idea for a change of scenery. Like, in your photos everything seems so hip and fun - like the bar with the swing! Where is that!? And if the answer is "a sushi bar", I'll be there at 5. Wink

OK, so it's a real heatwave on the east coast. NYC heat index was 100+ the other day. We know that the evening temperature on 1-18-08 is unseasonably warm, and that global warming could plausibly tie in with some trigger event for the emergence of the monster.

Since Lil is clearly a dem/progressive, why not someone probe her about global warming issues? I am not a myspacer, but does anyone else want to take this tack?

I agree. When I send MySpace messages to Lil about her favorite books, it's as though my mission is to emulate a real boring person. Well done, deletia. Well done.

Do you think we should plagiarize from the same site she has? or should we provide more creative suggestions?

I went ahead and posted a few of the "Snippets" in her blog, under the guise that I overheard them whilst visting family out that way, but so far all my messages/comments/etc. have fallen on deaf ears. Save for the fact that I was the first to post on Huds "Fav X-men" blog!!!

Being a long time comic nerd, mayhaps thats the angle I should take. Sadley, though I'm sure I could Connect with Platt easily, our common intrest being quite numerous, I have no idea how I could shift the talks to glean any thing useful. Or whether he would even have anything useful. Under my observation and mad crazy hunching, which is the act of following my hunchs for the slow kids in the back of the room, he dosen't seem to intregul to any thing puzzle-ish.

Really, Jamie's seems to be screaming first step, (Obviously, because hers led us to everyone else) and I don't think we should move beyond her yet. Obviously the outcast amongst them, being last in all the friends lists, and I do not believe this is because of sign up dates, simply because the PMs had time to fix this, and seem to be taking huge steps to make every aspect of the pages make them seem real, by making their relationships play out in real time. We all saw the new comments with Hudd and Hawk having a round of roommate rummble over ice cream. And Rob, whos clearly smitten with Beth, went ahead and put her at the top of his. Lilys and Beths postions on each others seem to correspond, marking their mutual close friendship. plus theres no other decearnable pattern for top 8 lists and sign up dates.

But her profile song dashboard has some oddly cryptic lyrics which seem to indirectly reference her comment/pic of the Volvo with the radio in the windshield on Robs myspace.

I think we can all agree that pic is highly odd, and though discussed before, it seemed to disappear from everyones minds? Why? Where are my ARGer's who tirelessly destegged the slusho pages? I feel many of us are giving in to laziness just when we have the most to work with. Don't heed the words of the nay saying ne'r do wells would have us doubt our selves. Take heart. They can bash us with :U R faG FaCe" or "Its all game jacks, J.J. is f--king withYu hAAcksnOOB!"

J.J. has put alot of time into this thing. Theres something there. We're just so scattered, we can't see the forest for the trees, or the slusho for the flavors. All these idiots who pop in and trash us for looking are just frustrated with this because they lack the creative and open minds to find anything, and have their heads so far up their asses they can't conceive that we, the greater minds, could find anything they didn't. I beseech all my fellow true believers, look again at the keywords in the slusho page source, question Jamie about the "I'm happy if you can't see me pic", dig into the volvo pic. The truly strange things are obvious, and stand out easy. So, why is it so foolish to question them?

I positively cringe at even suggesting this, but Jamie's really odd picture, the one with the black-dressed sign holder... have we totally exhausted anagrams for the sign? The way it's written in all capital letters and displayed so prominently makes me want it to be an anagram: IMGLADIFIDONTSEEYOU.

There are many promising starts, but nothing seems to come together: "I found my digital... Seyo?" "Find me a loud yogi site?"

Then perhaps it's a riddle of some sort. I'm glad if I don't see "U"?

[I'm sure that sign's been discussed to near death by now; I didn't even bother searching. It's just a direction that could probably be prodded further if anyone wanted to prod further at Jamie.]

[Figuratively speaking.]

That site is great!

Maybe someone should reply with this one from 8/1...
"Crazy guy handing out Sprint flyers: Free camera phone! Soon you'll be eating the robots!"

It probably qwon't get a responce, but I thought it was funny.

Maybe it's Kathy Griffin trying to muscle her way into mainstream media.
