Mhmmm

Yes. Yes I am. Very much so!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We go feet first, SIR!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hmmmmhmm... I am a genius.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear humanity, we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy ass fleet!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There is much talk, and I have listened through rock and metal and time. Now I will talk, and you will listen.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You are, all of you, vermin. Cowering in the dirt, thinking... what? That you might escape the coming fire? Your world will burn until it's surface is but glass.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I am Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb, currently in command of any UNSC forces on Reach. This is the new UNSC NOVA bomb, it is a series of nine thermonuclear warheads that compact all nearby masses into a neutron star, increasing its blast a hundredfold. To any Covenant uglies that may be listening, you have a few seconds to pray to your heathen gods before this device detonates. Have a nice day in Hell

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Just one question: what if you miss? Mister Chief: I won't.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This is not your grave...(growls) but you are welcome in it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Grunt #1: Me got bad feeling about this.
Grunt #2: You always got bad feeling! You got bad feeling about morning food nipple! (refrence to Halo easter egg)
Elite: Hold your tongue.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Marine: Yeah, I crapped myself. So what?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Marine: This one time, I threw my lunch instead of a grenade. True story

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Master Chief: I can has cheezburger!

Oh, Wikiquote... How I love thee!

I wish I had a banhammer at my disposal.

You want to crack wise, that's fine. But this is not the thread for it. Please take it elsewhere so the usual discussion and spec can clog this thread instead.

i have some textbook knowledge of dna and viruses and i know that with a virus, and some bacteria(correct me if im wrong), their dna is a single strand and it loops. so no matter how big it might be, parts would repeat or would be the same. thats not so in the sample. i think that there is another possibility. if youve read the books skip this part

in the 3rd and 4th halo books, they explain that SG Johnson(from halo 1) has this syndrom that disrupts the electrical signals in his brain, or some thing like that, but it caused him to be immune to the flood and thats how he survived.

maybe this is a section of the requirements to be a reclaimer, to be immune to the flood, as in have that syndrome to fight them off. the forerunner knew this from the start since they left behind the halos and guilty spark. since the forerunners had a plan, it had to be stored somewhere, guilty spark, and the other ai's at the other halos. along with the ark, the "sword and sheild will protect the reclaimers and destroy the flood to create a new future" quoting the 4th book. the ark is supposed to protect the reclaimers while the halos are activated. this DNA strand could be the part that the elites and the humans find out in halo 3. we know thta they team up eventually, maybe the "reclaimer" is a race, or two that is supposed to start over to save the universe from the flood.

combine the videos from the 4 servers.

1:the flodd are alien but smart

2: this wasant supposed to be this bad

3:this is my last resort

4:where did the flood come from
sums it up and maybe the halos is the last resort, since the forerunners dird, leaving us all of this.

last thought, if the covenant or the humans never found halo, the flood would never have been released. if this is so, why did they do all of this in first place already knowing who we were and what we were capable of, and just make sure we didnt find the halos?

Not exactly, whilst it is true that this is not a virus, that doesn't mean it couldn't have been one. In fact the entire thing IS a loop. The sequence here is Mitochondrial DNA. The Mitochondria is a bacterial life form that evolved to become a part of animal cells, and so the Mitochondrial DNA is different to the animal's DNA, and is looped.

It has already been mentioned that this is Alligator Mitochondrial DNA, that is true,

http://www.genome.jp/dbget-bin/www_bget?refseq+NC_004448

Just make sure you're aware of the fact that this entire sequence is a loop within the Mitochondria of the Alligator, not the Alligator.

Furthermore, the point in the book about Sgt. Johnson being immune to the flood has been mentioned by Bungie as one thing they aren't going to follow through with in the game, that was just artistic liscence by Nylund.
Of course, they could've been lying.

And, well, their defense is that it was a flawed report by another character in the book, to the best of their knowledge, as it were. So they're still able to pass on the point while not being inconsistent Razz

Basically I believ they're running with the idea that people thought he was infected and reported it, but he actually managed to avoid being infected entirely... that way they can still say no one's actually been found to be immune.

Not to get too far off-topic, but that part of the story was meant to emphasize the moral dilema the Master Chief had to face: Send an innocent man to his death, or possibly save billions of people. Then, in the end, it turns out that he wasn't immune at all, and the Chief made the right decision. Also, Joe Staten said so.

seargents role in the game

I think that johnsons imunity, or any escape from the flood will remain in the halo games as the good seargent put it.....

This looks a bit short to be a human-level genome, am I not right? More likely, this is the flood genome, since this shows only one sequence (humans have 28 pairs, please someone correct) and the flood starts as a virus, which is fairly short in DNA.

Actually, no offense, but I don't think you're right.

It could just be a sequence. You don't always just take the entire genome or nothing.

My knowledge of genetics is admittedly very limited, so as useless as my conjecture might be, I'd probably agree with the idea that this maybe could be some kind of genetic marker of some relevance.

Also, don't agree with the sappy thing. If the Forerunner were that brilliant, I'm thinking they wouldn't be dead.

No one makes "cute" or "sappy" last-ditch efforts to eradicate genocidal organisms. Or they end up dead with nothing left to remember them by.

see but with them being dead i think was an accident, they had the Shelid World Onyx tht they were gonna use to save themselves from the weapons that were and are the Halos. Something must have happened with the Flood in which the Forerunners had to activate the Halos early, or that they were activated by accident.

Or maybe everything went exactly as planned. We haven't even scratched the surface of the secrsts the micro-Dyson sphere holds, nor (apparently) shall we for quite a while (until the next Halo book after Contact Harvest).
