META - Not to be paranoid... I've been watching AWARE progress since finding out about ARGs recently, and have been impressed with how much work has been put into the project by Nash Carey. The phone calls and visits and flowers--lot of work. The characters are definitely coming alive.
And then I realized last night, about the Professor's claims regarding Ideltech, that this "Nash Carey" is exactly as real to me as the Professor and Marcus, and known to me through the same channels. I signed up with Ideltech and gave them my various info bits, did the application, and now it dawns on me that I'd assumed things about the recipient that may or may not be true. This is a bit spooky, in the real world, especially in the climate we've been living in since 9/11.
I guess this is supposed to be part of these experiences, right? I was assuming that the reality bottomed out at Mr. Carey, returnee from Iraq, etc., and his wife and Germany, etc., but is there any way (ahem, not to be too paranoid) to determine that the "game" is not part of some more serious reality?
This definitely gives me a few goose bumps.

That's part of the game.
Is it real, or is it Memorex...

Laz is right, that is part of the fun.
But you started me thinking Fallingwater...maybe we should investigate Nash. Do we know he is a real person?

Well he was an air traffic controller, and one of the Q's on the interview was regarding the ATC bible... So maybe he is not a RL person, but a character? Surely they wouldn't ask a Q about a real person?
Just a thought......

Concerning the theme of AWARE, isn't this returning Iraq soldier a bit too good to be true ?
And how much idle time do you have to set up multiple web sites, write, interact etc. while you are down there?
And isn't curious how open this guy has been about being the PM, which many avoid (since it could damage the game)?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Well so much for that theory. I found this article about AWARE and it shows Nash Carey's email as nash.careySPLAT us.army.mil and I'm assuming you can only get an email like that if you are really in the army
(Spoilered not to ruin the mystery for anyone not wanting it to be ruined

Nash was an active player in Acheron and posted on the boards here often. He was then in Iraq and mentioned that fact in his posts. If he is a character, the PM's certainly went to a lot of trouble to lay the groundwork for him.

Yes I am backing up Rose. I always was cheering Nash on when he told us of his duties overseas and that I was praying for him and to come back safe.
but i have felt a little paranoid. lelelellelelele

Interestingly, Nash Carey posted as part of a discussion (in the META section of Unforum) on an hypothetical ARG which would involve fictional players interacting with real players through a forum such as this one. Hmm, with Krysbabe missing, it makes one wonder...
