Super Sekrit stuff

One of my favourite things about DC is the mass of user generated content. This is really nice, and just goes to show that not all alteration of the course of the game by the players is "jacking". However, there's one problem. Because of the faction thingy, lots of players are forming their own little bands with their own super sekrit websites. E.g. the red forums, the Union Blogs etc etc.

So I suggest what we do is nominate one person to be a "keeper", oog, of all of these sites and stuff. That way we can make sure they get recorded for posterity (e.g. on the wiki) and so on. It should probably be someone who already knows much more OOG than IG.

I would nominate Notgordian, but that's been shot down already, lol

Maybe Wolfhawk or Fridays? Razz

Or maybe a committee? A few of us could do it without a problem, and it's always easier if things are shared among people. Heck, even if it's a duo doing it--better than going solo.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to form such a commitee once the ARG ends? Then, we contact the suriving members of all the Factions and then have them open up the forums and record for posterity?

That way, we can feel open about what our schemes are, since the game would be over.

I actually was going to suggest this. I really don't think we can expect someone to have access to all the info without leaking something IG. It's hard enough right now to keep track of what I know IG and what I know OoG, I can't imagine trying to add to that what I know OoG but shouldn't tell anyone else OoG.

Part of the fun of Deus City is not knowing. As frustrating as it is, this added level of paranoia helps spice things up. I'm sure everything will open up eventually - it always does. I sent out copies of Hook's mysterious manifesto to people who could have leaked it. Sometime soon she'll probably discover the location of our forums. Eventually we'll all learn what's up with the new blog. And if you stick around til next season you'll get to find out who shot JR - seriously!

I think we need the mystery for now. I'm happy to write a tell all book/post when 'this is all over'/'I get too frustrated with updates'/'I get a job that monitors my internet usage.' For now just enjoy not knowing...

I suppose, although not knowing is quite irksome.

At the same time, I can deal with not knowing things, I just hate waiting to do things--like the long moments of inaction.

Like... now! But that's what irritates me--I know the PMs have lives and all that, but we do too. And the "storm" shouldn't affect the present-day aspect of the game (why didn't someone just say they're going away or something?).

Ah well. At least some people get vacations for summer. Must be nice Smile

Well, since I'm now OOG completely (well, pretty much completely- the PMS would have to beg me back) why don't I become the "Keeper of the Knowledge". Because one, I'm not going to/can't use it. And two, then I can have fun reading it.

Oh- and if we are coolio IG (or even OOG) then shoot me a message. Coolio people are hard to come by. I am all for continuing to chat with everyone.

But if the person in the forums was right ( http://deuscity.com/forum.php?request=show_thread&thread_id=208) then the city government hunts this stuff down. So it's going to be easier said than done.

But people have to go to DC, so that means people do have to travel. Someone's future self might be a "Wasteland Runner" (whatever they're called) and be able to access a bunker or something on the outskirts of the future city. Very Happy

Exactly! Who said anything about being right in DC?

Not to mention the fact that; if they are JUST uncovering old computers and viewing them as archeologically significant - they aren't down to a well placed bunker yet.

Yeah... makes me wonder what they'll do when they "discover" our flatscreen monitors. Or radios... or... I dunno, I'd say tennis rackets, but if they still play golf they should play tennis.

Yeah. They don't know a pc, but they remember golf. Sad...

And they might be missing out on chocolate in 30 years--they didn't even have cola... so what will happen then? I'm picturing people having "chocolate deals" and stuff--which would be kinda funny Very Happy
