That was pretty neat. Smile I'm glad the actual trailer isn't like this -- it's much more epic, but loses the personal scope that I think JJ is going for. Still, if they were making more of a traditional kaiju movie and less the Blair Witch approach, we'd probably see something similar to this.

Hey, bonus points if you show us the monster next time. Laughing

I AM a video editor who has cut a number of trailers (all for small Indies, you probably haven't seen any of them unless you do the festival circuit) and I was impressed even though I recognized most of the footage.

The cut between the Transformers meteor thing hitting the ball field and the shaking in Rob's apartment was brilliant. Big time kudos.

I've seen a lot of indie movies and trailers, so I might know.

Sweet mashup

Raptor,

That was sweet. Thanks for taking the time to put it together, I enjoyed watching it. I assume you won't mind if I share it through my blog, giving you credit, of course.

Very well done man. I agree, the cut between the meteor and the earthquake was superb.

I am in absolute agreement with Elvis here. Awesome job of editing.

Let's see, I caught scenes from:

Cloverfield
Transformers
10,000 BC
I Am Legend

What were the others, if you don't mind telling us?

Again, great job.

[EDIT] If there were others.

I don't get why you are all so impressed, he just mixed some transformers footage and some trailer footage together..He didn't do any of the effects.

Why AREN'T you impressed? That editing worked perfectly. Good editing is a hell of a lot harder than you think, and he nailed it.

actually for me the editing was kinda meh, he just used windows movie maker to fade and crap, anyone could do it in 5 mins with the right clips.

Besides the titles, the color corrections, the rendering and the pleasure of working with the software, it could indeed probably be done in Movie Maker. But I used Sony Vegas 7.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys like the video. As for posting the link on your blogs and stuff, no problem, go ahead.

@Anteros. That's right, it only misses Invasion. That's were the NASA suits come from. (Watch closely Wink)

For the people who are interested in more work, you might enjoy these videos:

Rainbow Six on the Wii
I did this one last year for an E3 competition at Gametrailers.com. I actually won the competition and an Xbox 360.

(The competition was: Make a video with footage from the new games at the show.)

Change History
I was curious how I could combine Assassins Creed with Metal Gear Solid. It's also the second trailer I did for that same competition. It made the finals. The people at that website seem to love it. I don't know, I guess it just kicks ass.

Halo Movie Trailer
What could the upcoming Halo movie look like? Perhaps not my best, but the comments are positive overall.

Furthermore I have this YouTube account. I'm not a big fan of the website since the compression is crap as hell, but there are some videos on there as well.

Enjoy. Very Happy

Nah.. If that was the real trailer, it wouldn't stand out as much. Wink
