True true. It's just funny this thread - like being at a sleepover.

However, initially I wasn't going to "fall for it" because well, duh. But when nighthawk put up the link, or whoever did to nighthawk's copy on you tube I decided to check it out - figuring he was either debunking it or discussing it...and dammit! I heard the damn thing. I did listen to the wav file and just the wav file hit me as a joke because it's too obvious.

Okay fine. I pulled up the trailer and sure enough, there's a damn cuckoo going off.

And finally, I decided to check Raptor's awesome fan trailer and damned if he didn't capture it too...so it's definitely in there, and to you new ones who are reluctant to fall for it, it's not a joke....there's a cuckoo sound right at the explosion point when the SOL head hits the 401 bldg.

WHY it's in there, I cannot bring myself to speculate...because of the humiliation....I've watched this trailer a thousand times and it took a 13 yo kid to point it out to me...and you...and us...and them!

Which also means I guess I shouldn't say f*ck anymore on here huh...

Oh, PS....this is referring to the same (lost) source I read awhile ago that I can't remember to find, but that was saying the 2nd trailer is due out on the 18th of this month. The same one had mentioned that according to Abrams/camp the biggest clue anyone found at all from the trailer was the "we saw it, it's huge, it's alive" ...

Well that hit the obvious point that for us here, the slusho shirt was the biggest clue, so what is that phrase a clue about? Still, he said the biggest clue of the trailer anyone's even found clearly suggests there are others in this trailer....and the going assumption in spite of this information is that there's nothing more to be found in the trailer.

And now here were are, nearly the middle of August and just get pwned by a 13 yo and a CUCKOO BIRD.

I think we should really quit listening to ourselves and listen to outsiders! They seem to know what's goin on here better. Laughing

Don't be so sure that you missed it. So far, everything that we've found has been changed after the fact. The pics did nothing, then they could be flipped; the flash was altered and things were added on Slusho.jp; the movie poster background was added to the Apple site. If past performance is indicitave of future behavior, then I'm going with the idea that they've altered the trailer as well.

Maybe that's the game...check and recheck 'til we spot the changes? Payoffs need to come quicker if that's the way they're tacking. Really, it just seems like things are being done on the fly with this game whatever we're calling it.

Can't it just be as simple as that the head of the SOL actually being hollow AND made of metal and therefore making that sound when being hit?
Watch Ghostbusters 2, you hear those kind of noices all the time, even in X-men 1 i think! BUT, if there is a cuckoo sound that has been put in there for the sake of it being a clock, then it would be pretty strange seing the "Ding Dong" flyer on the fridge and the http://www.dingdonglounge.com history section starting out with a comment (though fake) on a cuckoo clock?

BlueK you make a good point indeed. I had that nagging suspicion when I discovered the meta keywords in slusho. And I have moved the pics around on 1-18 in every way imaginable and none flipped over...and then suddenly they did and had stuff on them...the question of how long it's been there was like a siren going off. Oh and with the cap. I never took a good look at the cap to see first hand the "typo" - but read about it on here. Then that they fixed it. Oh and "form" to "from" ;-p Good point though. I will sure be keeping it in mind from now on.

I didn't ever download a copy of the original bootleg trailer so have nothing from early days to compare it to but if anyone managed to get the bootleg trailer to check it, we might could clear up how long it's been there or not.

I haven't used the program in years but didn't mIRC have a sound like that when one of your friends came online?

Well Tinag it's not as if we can go to google type. in Cloverfield and get a plot synopsis, Or find every website, or a list of all clues lol

Dude, it's a lion, it's huge, and it pwns new york. End of story.
Btw, now i can't listen to the trailer without hearing it. How did we all miss this in a theater with prime sound?

Youtube has older versions. I checked some and they too have the cuckoo sound.

Well, its a cuckoo sound. I work with cuckoo clocks and it defintely sounds authentic. Not that that means anything, just pointing that out in response to whomever didnt believe it sounded like an authentic german cuckoo clock. The cuckoo sound is produced by two air bellows and they all have their variations, but it sounds like any authentic cuckoo clock would.

I'd be surprised if it had any relevance to the movie or game though.

How can you be skeptical about such a clear sound? It is definetly a cuckoo clock

Alright, I actually loaded the trailer and listened to it.
Granted, it does sound like a Cuckoo Clock, but I really think that's accidental.

Aside from the idea of it being a 'joke', I can't really see any other reason why there'd be an actual Cuckoo Clock sound in it. So I figure it's either a joke, or more likely it's an accident.

I don't think it's an accident.

Cuckoo speculation

Okay, I ran cuckoo clock through an anagram generator, and it came up with clock cuckoo and cock luck coo... Maybe a clue?
Upon searching for a corralation between cuckoos and the bible, I found this passage, in Matthew 24:36 "And yay, the cuckoos did sing to the multitudes, and they were frightened, for it is the ravager, the destructor of man."
And finally, the average eye blinks for a cuckoo is around 20 a minute, so if I take that, and multiply it by 24:36, minus cock luck coo, carry the three...

I think it's like a rorschach test for the ears. for one, to -koo is far too short compared to the cuck-... I think it's a normal sound that given its odd context and coincidental combination with others, and that one person first said it's a cuckoo, now that's all everyone hears... I don't think it's intentionally supposed to be a "cuckoo clock".

I was not going to post in this thread, but i decided to anyway.

Yes, I too can hear the *distinct* sound that a cuckoo clock makes and that point of the video.

Now for the context of this ARG:
Is there anything special about the building that the SOL head hits?
Is there a connection between that building and the Ding Dong lounge?

Does anyone think that the Switzerland jacket, Swiss Cuckoo clock, Swiss cheese, and possibly Swiss Chocolate are related and may have something to do with the movie?

Are the Oven Mitss swiss?

Is the Hammer swiss?
