[SPEC] 7 Hour War from the game Half-Life is it possible... I have an odd idea about what the movie is about, I think(and I'm probably wrong)that the movie might be about the Combine 7 Hour War on Earth, except from a normal person's point of view. But I'm probably wrong so flame away.
But I have to admit that'd be totally balling.
BTW:if my implausible idea is true than the giant thing in the trailer must be a Stalker on Steroids.
edit to add [tag] and clarify that the subject refers to Half-Life ~rose

Ahh. Then I would wager a big negative on that.

Yes, it's been confirmed that this movie is a completely original concept by JJ, meaning a Half-Life based idea is a NEGATORY.

I think this movie is about a giant monster attacking New York City filmed from the perspective of people with video cameras.

Look people. We know the basics of what cloverfield is about. It's a monster movie in new york. That much we know.
If you have a weird idea, filter it through occams razor? Ie; Is it plausible or is it just a stupid idea. Come OOON people. Do some freaking thinking.

I've slit a few people's throats here with Occam's Razor. Nobody seems to understand the concept, so give it up.
And I can tell you, without a doubt, that it has nothing to do with Half-Life. I know people at Valve Software personally, and they have nothing to do with this.

I think I'm in love... Well, I just saw the movie Cloverfield.
and I am convinced that it may very well be a Half-Life movie.
The war lasts an entire 7-hours... quite a coincidence... or maybe a homage...
Most of the creatures are Half-Life-esque, except vamped up for film, which is understandable.
There is nothing that can contradict the storylines of the Half-Life games in this film...
If this truely is a Half-Life film... My brain hurts already...
I think I'm in love...

If this was a Half-Life film then they would not keep it a secret, the primary reason to do a game tie-in film would be to increase the sales of both the movie and product by crossing over the intended audiences.
So, was Valve promoting the film?: No
Is there a Valve logo among the production logos at the beginning of the film?: No
Is Valve listed in the credits?: No
Has Valve or Bad Robot made any attempt to link the game and film in the public's mind?: No
Therefore it is NOT intended as a Half-Life film.
To a Half-Life fan it can be considered a 'close as we're likely to get' movie, much as an In Nomine fan can pick apart the characters in Dogma and match them to bands/choirs from that game, or a Shadowrun fan might do the same to Sneakers.
It's not a Half-Life film, but feel free to pretend it is if it makes you happy.

If this were Half-Life there would be portal storms out the wazoo all over the Earth.

Doesn't Half-Life happen a bit farther in the future? I didn't see anything but current day stuff in this film.

I think we all know that by now dude.
Also sidenote: JJ Abrams has mentioned he is a big fan of the Half Life.
