not sure how it fits in there........

I think it does fit in there - the PM is pushing us that way (from another chat with Adam):

Quote:

9:57:25 PM worsleyadam: have you found any clues in his (Stalin) quotes.... something that might help?
...Later...
10:00:44 PM RedCt: I haven't really found anything that could match the scrambled letters though
10:00:57 PM worsleyadam: ok
10:01:49 PM worsleyadam: maybe it has something to do with that bible quote.... idont know

I think he's pushing us towards the bible passage and the Stalin quote.

I've been butting my head against that cipher with no success so far. I'm thinking it has to be some kind of simple substitution. The letter frequencies and patterns look like straight up cryptograms. I'm pretty sure the list is a bunch of names. For example, I'd almost put money on the first word of number 6 being 'george'. Or maybe not, since I've yet to break the Stalin quote, if indeed that is what it is.

ps- used stegdetect on the four pictures on his MS page. One of them, the one with the woman walking in it, came up one star for jphide. I think it is probably nothing.

I have also had no luck with the cypher, but I also have tried crypotograms with the stalin quote, but its mostly jibberish. I also think some of the shorter ones are names. But it was weird cause some of them had the word church in it... but is that just a coincidence? Any one else having any luck on the code?

If it is indeed a simple substitution, why were we given Matthew 21:42 and Joseph Stalin?

The first part does look like a list of names -- with the last one having a middle initial, but while number 6 could be 'George', or 'church' by the same token (but a different substitution key) number 9 could be 'George' or 'church' as well. Also, if these are names, then the third 'surname' would begin with a double letter.

As for the picture of the building, I am more interested in the hieroglyphics.

Morbus Iff: hey there.
Morbus Iff: i don't suppose you could get us a picture of the ring or blue box?
worsleyadam is now online.
worsleyadam: i'm going to go pic up the pictures today
Morbus Iff: ah, very good.
worsleyadam: who are you?
Morbus Iff: someone you asked for help from.
Morbus Iff: incidentally, hey: what museum were you visiting in Miami?
Morbus Iff: the one with the hieroglyphs in the stonework seems to be a place I'd like to visit.
worsleyadam: yes but i mean are you on my side or on the other side?
worsleyadam: no that was a movie theater
Morbus Iff: oh? do you recall the name, perchance?
1:20 PM
worsleyadam: movico paradise 24
worsleyadam: i wanted to collect phone numbers and zipcodes
Morbus Iff: aye, i heard. 03301.
worsleyadam: because things are getting a little suspiciouse around here
worsleyadam: that's ur zip?
Morbus Iff: aye.
worsleyadam: and number?
Morbus Iff: n/a.
Morbus Iff: i rarely answer my phone.
Morbus Iff: assuming i can even find it.
worsleyadam: ok i'll see what else i can do to contact u if i ever need to
Morbus Iff: huh. was this theatre in miami or davie?
worsleyadam: i'm not too sure i think it was in broward county some where called penbroke pines
worsleyadam: have you figured anything else out?
Morbus Iff: i'm merely catching up at this point.
worsleyadam: ah ok
1:25 PM
Morbus Iff: so, you were on a trip to miami? visiting friends?
worsleyadam: no just getting awat from ny for a while
Morbus Iff: so, whatdya do for a living"?
worsleyadam: i'm a freelance photographer
worsleyadam: i work mostly for the local paper
Morbus Iff: aah. they must have a employees only parking lot, eh?
worsleyadam: no we have to park int he street or wherever else like a publix or something
Morbus Iff: interesting... i only ask cos one of your pictures seems to have a sticker for an employee parking permit.
worsleyadam: oh no that's not my car
Morbus Iff: ah rental? friends?
worsleyadam: friends
worsleyadam: actually some one i met down there
worsleyadam: kinda a one week thing if you catch my drift
Morbus Iff: heh, heh. was your last photo a memory of her?
worsleyadam: yea she's the one in the picture
Morbus Iff: hey, listen, i gotta get going, but I'll continue to follow your plight.
worsleyadam: oh ok good luck
worsleyadam: thanks for your help

The movie theatre (movico paradise 24) in question appears to be in Penbroke Pines, as evidenced by this really small photo (and source URL):

Regarding the Bible quote, I find it more than suspicious that 21*2 = 42.

If this was a direct Caeser, then the "TTKZG" "last name" could be one of OOZED OOMPH LLANO OOZES OOTID LLOYD OOHED AARON OOLAK SSORT AAHED LLEYN UUCPS OOPAK SSTOR CCOYA. Of those, only AARON and LLOYD really work for (American) last names. And, if it was LLOYD, then only the following would really work:

SHADOWS LLOYD
SUNDOGS LLOYD
SEADOGS LLOYD
EPIDOTE LLOYD

Entertaining names, but legit? Doubtful.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Potential PM exposure: http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m214/miggyandme/ Looks like pictures of him and his wife (he has a ring in his self-photo). This would also put his wife as the woman in the picture, and place him as living in Florida, not New York - the timestamps on the photos (per the EXIF data) are 8/11. Also:

And:

worsleyadam: morbus?
worsleyadam: just to let you know the profile i am using is of that girl I was with in Miami..... We are still good friends but that is not me in the picture... I wish.... That is her fiancee
Morbus Iff: you cheated on a betrothed woman? naughty!
worsleyadam: lol yea

Aaaaand, there's another update on his MySpace, where he posts:

Quote:
Ok so I just got back from the Photo Lab and I scanned the image of the ring onto my computer. I edited it a little bit just so you guys can see the weird symbol better. I'll be on later on tonight. I have to go to work right now and attempt to smooth talk my way into making them purchase some pictures.

I hope this helps.

Oooh... MI5, older people in fitted suits, mysterious codes... This sounds like a conspiracy! Wink

No luck on the cryptograms either.

You know.. I just had a thought.

With the MI5 ring _and_ the ciphered text together - it's not much of a stretch to say it was ciphered using an MI5 cipher. Are there any that were developed by MI5 (pre 1955, maybe?)

I just got the same generic IM intro that redct received. I've scanned the thread (I'll reread more carefully in a sec), but it seems you all have already solved the first picture that I was directed to. Is this just a case of a PM being lazy with an intro script or is it still unsolved and I misread this thread?
