False lead?

(first post... yay!)

@Uberg33k:
Yes, the original letter we have gotten through its answer should be on the first page of this thread. We're now trying to un-cipher the letters found on the note Adam found in his grandfathers 'secret' room.

From Adam's Blog:

Quote:
More hacks. While I was out at work a friend of mine on AIM said that I had signed on and spoken to him for a while. He said that the person who pretended to be me told him that he could try Number Shift Ciphers or Date Shift Ciphers to solve what he was looking for.

This is now the second attempt that has been made to steal information or pretend to be me. Just be wary of who you talk to.

Could be a hint that the clue of number/date ciphers was a false lead. I've tried the two dates I could think of anyway connected to this post (2/1/1942) and (3/17/1983, date of Catherines letter) but neither fits.

The glyphs are from a Masonic Temple. The MI5 logo is said to look like a Masonic seal.

Apparently, you guys read the note wrong. It isn't an anagram, its code words. He found a dead drop letter from an operative.

I told him to go look at the vents where he found the note. Apparently, he found something big that he's taking a picture of right now.

Expect a new My Space post shortly.

Edit : I'm talking about the very first note from his "mother"

Edit2 : Ok, maybe it is still an anagram, but apparently taking it literally triggered something off with the PM.

New post up.

There was also an inscription on the back. In very small letters the words "The Lutheran Light. 2 before, 1 before, 4 before, 2 before and then you can decipher."

Wow this seems more entangling with every new discovery I make. I only wish that we could make some sense of all this.

Hmm... Lutheran, bible...

Also: "2 before, 1 before, 4 before, 2 before" is 2 1 4 2

Now, before what.

This might be nothing, but has anyone looked at the properties of the photos he's posting? It gives a full run down of his camera make, model, exposure, etc. Seems odd that an amature photographer would be using a Canon A60. You'd think he'd at least have a dSLR.

Talked to him, says that he uses film mostly. He's "new to this digital stuff" according to him.

Eye before E except after C?

Sorry, that was just too easy.

"2 before, 1 before, 4 before, 2 before"

i think its the shift....shift 2 shift 1 shift 4 shift 2?

i say this because in earlier conversation(i forgot to save it...sorry)
the "hacker" told me to try the number shift....and then adam told me to try it....he also said "maybe its something you never seen before" so im thinkin this mite be something he made up....heres the problem with just shifting it....which way to shift? do you go just strait thru...if so that would be 9 or do you rite then left then etc...iv been goin rite to left so and only workin the first line...

tnvb fyswxslmc=wosy ibvcuvopf?

thats goin rite to left(could be wrong?) but he makes it sound like theres more to do after all the shifting....im lost......

I tried the Unfiction Rot-It tool (rotates it forward 1-25 letters) and nothing. I doubt it's a shift cipher.

Hmm... had a thought.

On the list of (presumably) cryptograms, there's 3. VHSGKQV TTKZG

The "TTKZG" is interesting... how many words (assuming it is one) start with 2 of the same letters and are 5 letters long? Probably only a handful.

How many uFers does it take to solve a......

ok.. so after being led by the nose into a group chat on AIM.... we finally got this solve:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1. Adam Weishaupt
2. Solomon Tulbure
3. Francis Bacon
4. Ben Franklin
5. John Hancock
6. George Washington
7. Ronald Reagan
8. Aleister Crowley
9. George W. Bush

It doesnt matter who the people voted for, they always vote for us.

-Joseph Stalin

How we arrived there:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We assigned each letter a number using this series: 2, 1, 4, 2, etc. etc.
We shifted the original letters backward ("before") however many times the number was. Then used that letter to crypto the puzzle out.

so the first two words of the quote was like this:

..Q B Q A Z V G C
- 2 1 4 2 2 1 4 2
-----------------------------
..O A M Y X U C A

which when you put the whole quote together cryptograms out to:

I T D O E S N T

Thanks ncfriend for posting that! That solve took foreverrrr, ncfriend doing much of the grunt work. *claps for nc* Anyway I also wanted to add that we talked to the people who been hacking Adam's AIM and website. They pretty much tried to get info out of us, then said they were watching.. The creepers. hah

Also the list of people are from a (fictional) group called the Illuminati. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati
