I did a quick scan of www.spiderresearch.com, it only appears to be running HTTP and FTP. FTP is not allowing anonymous logins.

And are they really giving away a brand new Volvo. I don't think so.
The volvo is worth more than 19 000 Euros.
To be giving away such a expensive thing you would expect a lot more from the survey.

I find it odd that there is no "fine print" associated with this giveaway. There is always associated legal mumbo-jumbo. Is the contest only open to residents of a particular country, or is everyone in the world allowed to win? Who pays the vehicle's tax and title? What about shipping? Is it open to employees of Spider Research or their immediate families? How many are they giving away? What mechanism are they using to pick winners? What are the odds of winning? This kind of information is always available for contests, drawings, and giveaways (though hidden away in fine print).

Maybe one of there employes name hold the key Wink
Laura Bergman 0
Jennifer Frid 0
Karin Davidsson 1
Rebecca Ericsson 0
John Goodell 0
Norton Ingale 0
Henrik Nylén 2
Victoria Petersen 0
Kim Ruding 0
Sara Scheeman 0
Phil Timell 0

If you are wondering about the numbers behind the names.
They are the number of hits I got on each name when browsing through the public phone catalog over the Stockholm area.
One would belive that the Stockholm Office employes would actually live somewhere in Stockholm. But they don't seem to own any phones or they are all unlisted.

perhaps not very helpful, but I finally got a response from when I used the contact form for norton ingale. I just asked him whether he was the nightingale and he responded:

Code:

I guess you have figured out that it was me who manipulated Los Angeles and the Observatory. Please do not contact anyone about anything related to this matter again.

Why do you want to know why I am? What is your position in all this?

If it's money you are after, you've picked the wrong target.

After reading the Nightengale's email to Talax, I took the hint and revisited the observatory pic on spider research's website [http://spiderresearch.com/who.html].

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Saving the picture, pasting it into word, and cranking up the contrast revealed the following code:

VPI YJOML VPI HRY ZPTR PIY
PG DJRAA HSD PT MOLR DMRSLRTD PT
UPMMRC YTSMDQPTYSYOPM

YJOML SHSOM DIULRT

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's a substitution cipher which translates to:

You think you get more out of
Shell gas or Nike sneakers or
conned [canned?] transportation
think again sucker

Apart from the obvious rant against corporate America, this doesn't seem to lead anywhere. Ideas anyone?

this could be a bit of a jump, maybe its connex not canned or conned. I know they did heaps of publicity when they entered the australian market. (i'm assuming they are multinational)

Connex controls large parts of the public transportationsystem in Stockholm.

I stand corrected. Embarassed Thanks guys. Smile "Connex" works and makes infinitely more sense than "conned", "canned", or "Con Ed" for that matter. Personally, I've never heard of Connex...but, then they've probably never heard of me either. Confused
