[QUESTION] Where was Red Death mentioned?

Didn't someone get a wr mail mentioning something about the Red Death?
I knew I had heard that name before, and today, remembered a horror story I read once. I think it was written by Poe, but it could have been someone else. The story is about a medieval country, where the population suffers from a plague called the red death. SOme rich people have isolated themselves in a castle, and one night, thay have a masquerade. They all notice a stranger, wearing a red mask. He walks from room to room, and then dissappears. The people in the castle are now all feeling ill, and they realize that the stranger was the red death. Then they die.
The porf. seems to like masqued characters.

I think it was assumed that everyone had already heard of The Masque of the Red Death, given that it's one of the most famous short stories of all time.

Short stories

Which email are we talking about? Is this a new one or not?

And, add me to the list of people who didn't know the short story either. I think it would be better not to assume that I, for one, recognize anything. So if people see something, even if it seems so obvious that you would feel stupid posting it, post it anyway. Please. I don't know how my expensive education could have been so lacking, but there you are. Smile

Another comment on the red death, in the Phantom of the Opera, during the Masquerade (sp??) scene, the Phantom comes dressed as the Red Death...
