1. R'lyeh, where dead Cthulhu lies dreaming, is in the Atlantic. Approximately where the Bloop was recorded.

(it's still not a Cthulhu movie, in all likelihood)

Honestly, i dont really come in here much, and that was only my 2nd/3rd post i think. i just find it funny how everyones always at each others throats about this Cthulhu thing.
It's nice tho, cause i get to sit back and watch as you guys analyze cookoo clock noises and bad japanese grammar. But none of use will really know anything till this JJ guy gives us more info.
I'm in here cause it's fun, and it'll give the movie (presuming it's good) some nice back story. But some of you guys seem like your really into this, and i guess to each their own. Not my place to make fun. Have fun guys

My head hurts from trying to comprehend how incredibly dense you are.
1. LOST doesn't suck....not one of my fav shows, but has an incredible cult following for the fact that no one knows what in the name of holy hell is going on yet want to figure it out. It's only getting better, not worse.
2. He didn't necessarily say he took it from a toy. He said japan had godzilla toys...his doesn't really even connect to this monster having come from a toy. That's the most incoherent connection ever established.
3. We don't hate cthuhlu, but we're sick and tired of cthuhlu cultists coming in here and getting moist over the thought of cthuhlu, despite jja saying this was going to be a monster that was america's. I personally don't think he would use a monster that has been used infinitely too much already.

wel like i said man, not my place to make fun. So i take back what i said about LOST. I used to watch it, and i was getting excited to find out what happened at the end of the 1st season, yet nothing was answered. And once again, same song second verse for season 2. after that i kinda gave up. So my bad if i'm missing good stuff now. I't snot a bad show or anything, just seems like they're never going to tie it all together. A few friends of mine are still religious about it and watch it every week. maybe i'll catch up on dvd later. And i'm not saying i think the monster will be Cthulhu, just that maybe it'd be cool if the monster was never fully explained in the ovie, and it's left to our imagination to determine it's intentions, and origins. With possibly some signs pointing to Cthulhu. I'll probably like the movie even if it's a giant teddy bear, so long as he throws statues. haha
Anyways, everyone in here, good job hunting. Some interesting theories and discoveries. Let's keep this fun.

R'lyeh is not in the Atlantic, it's in the Pacific. Specifically, according to the Lovecraft story "The Call of Cthulhu," it's at:
S 47 9', W 126 43' 47". It's in the middle of nowhere in the South Pacific ocean.

The Bloop was around S 50, W 100, which is closer to South America. Still, it's not THAT far from the supposed location of R'lyeh.

FYI, I just finished writing an article on Cthulhu, and happened to have all my notes handy. That's the only reason I knew this stuff.
