[TRAILHEAD]There Is Only One Variable The (X) Man Cometh! Googling "Alternate Reality" brings up this page (a sponsored link on the right):
http://www.thereisonlyonevariable.com
From there you can also find this:
http://www.xactiongear.com/
Looks to be for a comic book, and yet I can't help but feeling there's something else. Perhaps a fake comic book? Because I can't find it anywhere else on google.
I haven't had much time to look through stuff, either... like whois.
Anyone got any thoughts?

Hmm... if you click the (X) link on the first page and hit "ctrl+a" you see some white dots that look kind of like stars.
EDIT: this does seem suspiciously argish, but it may just be the beginning of a comic book.
I'd keep an eye on it anyway.

x-unleashed.com comes to the same site. X-Unleashed is on Hypercomics, and Lulu.com, yet comics has no info on it. There's also no info on the publisher on google, 1x-Studios. Also tried looking for an ISBN number, and couldn't find one.

It could be a webcomic.... (EDIT: Never mind, this is clearly hinting otherwise)
But why would it sponsor the keywords "Alternate Reality?"
Definitely fishy....
There's also what appears to be hidden text in the documents section, but it turned out be be blank spaces.....

in the caffepress.com source theres some text, no idea if its lrelevant. Also, in the training logs, it mentions MetaVXR.. wasn't that part of MetaCortechs? Probably just grabbing at straws here...
Found http://www.onevariable.tv/ in one of the pics aswell.

Private site... damn....
This comic book excerpt looks like a bad attempt to get kids to exercise, really....

comic If you click on documents, then click on the unleashed link, it takes you to a "Hyper comics" website with the cover art of the comic. Up in the right hand corner is a forward and back arrow. Clicking on it will flip through the pages of the comic.

Pardon my bluntness but GOD this comic is bad....
I hope this really is an ARG....

If you ask me, the onevariable.tv site confirms its ARGyness. Needing to get a login name and password to access restricted videos? Sounds that way to me.
And typing a note to the owner of the site? Character interaction, anyone?
I'm gonna go read through the comic now... if its as bad as you say it is then yeah, i hope someone's not actually trying to sell it. As horrible as that sounds.

shudder. Yipes, this is pretty bad stuff. I laughed out loud on pg 18 where you see the woman wearing the UnderArmor shirt... cause it's supposed to be an X, obviously... haha. There's no way that's a real comic. It's badly done photoshop art, is more like it. But it's elaborate, which is good i guess if it's an ARG.
I signed up at the onevariable.tv thing, but no one wrote back and I haven't received a login yet.
I see that the "thereisonlyonevariable.com" site was created on macweb... can we get user info? The real site is http://web.mac.com/xmantraining/iWeb/ONEVARIABLE/The%20Machine.html
I don't know how that works though to maybe find an owner. If this is a real comic book, then where's the author's name?
ETA: if you mouse over the "RECEIVE NEWS AND UPDATES DIRECTLY FROM THE DATABASE" you can see that the email address is contactSPLAT x-database.com. X-Database.com is parked free courtesy of GoDaddy. Wonderful. lol.

It seems that the only way to get in is to request an invite....

thereisonlyonevariable was indeed created with .Mac... and judging by the URL the username who created it is "xmantraining". Maybe try e-mailing xmantrainingSPLAT mac.com?

Seriously, they stink at spelling. to the max.
Also, on page twenty two, last thing on the bottom right, it looks like some hidden text.
