Wow, fast solving on that one Mandykat. I don't think I would made the connect that fast. Smile

If the numbers are bin we'd need to separate them ourselves, change the 2's to 0's... Is there anything else it could be? Maybe we have to do that? I don't know haha Anyone with more experience have an idea?

no

edit : let me be more clear. I tried changing the 2's to 0's and its not even letters mostly. Bizzare characters. Changing the 1's to 0's and 2's to 1's also yields nothing that's remotely usable.

I'm not Mandykat! Very Happy

OK, so now we know it's not binary... what could it be?

EDIT: Could it be binary to something other than ASCII? Binary to decimal = a phone number? no idea personally Sad

How would we tell how to break it up into letters/words? Sad

I doubt it's morse code - just too many combinations. I have a feeling there will be a clue when uberg33k gets the package...

Gee I hope so, it's pretty impenetrable at the moment... I thought the number of consecutive numbers might mean something (1,2,1,2,3,2,etc.) but I can't get that to make anything other than gibberish. I also thought it might be a bar-code type code, where 1=thin and 2=thick, but the combinations we've got don't seem to mean anything there either. Then there's the weird number of digits --- 79, a prime number, implying that if we are to break it up into chunks that the chunks can't be of equal size. This lends weight to the morse code idea, but as you say the number of combinations is enormous... When is the drop supposed to happen?

EDIT: BTW, forgot to say. Adam has a friend on Myspace called Miggy & Me, but their page looks like it is OOG so I'm not sure what we're supposed to get from it.

The drop is occuring on Sunday, but I won't be able to pick it up till Monday morning. Finally I get to do something useful on this one, even if its only to play info mule for the rest of the group.

added up, they equal 129...dont know if it helps

maybe somehow they come out as coordinates? ive tried fooling around with them converting them from hex to binary to decimal, etc on a calculator...

degrees/minutes/seconds (1+1+1=3)

degrees/minutes/seconds (1+1+1=3)

3+3=6 (6 different sections)

79 numbers

Im stuck as of there.. im was trying to think of some way to divvy up the numbers to equal sections but it doesnt fit...

hopefully uberg will be our saviour on monday

Unusual:

Miggyandme has comments by people that are OOG.. I dont know why it would be mentioned IG.. I know for a fact that at least one person commenting is OOG.. I wont name names for their own privacy.. but I know this person isnt IG..

This is some stretch, but:

I converted the 1s and 2s into binary by making 1 to 0 and 2 to 1.

When converted into decimal, it turns into 2 neat pairs of lat/long coords.

One of them, 18 51 58N 63 10 00W, is off the coast of the British Virgin Islands. Remember when Adam said he's going somewhere... even if he has to swim to get there? Razz

Could you elaborate on ow you did the conversion?
I can't get that to work using 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8-bit binary to decimal.

I can't find the site right now, but it was a little Java applet that converted Binary > Decimal.

The binary string used is
0110110001101101011111001111111101110001001011111001111111110000101111000011011

Package received!

I must say that I laughed out loud (literally) when I saw it. Adam must have been playing along with Torment over in the Timewasters forum. Let me find a scanner so I can show you what I have. In the mean time, review the solves to Torment so you can be prepared for this cipher.

Edit : grr ... I can't find a scanner right now, but I have deciphered the message. So, should I post the answer or wait until I can scan it to give everyone a chance at deciphering it first?
