Anyway, getting very bored here too. I know that we have 5 months until the film comes out, so it can't be jam-packed with ARG goodness, but there has to either be something new every once in awhile or at least a good shove in the right direction on the off chance that we missed something.

See, that is directly responding to the topic, but I guess you were too busy commenting about the first line to bother reading all of it.

What would be the point of reading something that was started off topic? You contradict yourself.

Well, this is becoming a fun thread. Can we make a new rule to just ignore annoying guests?

How about you make a new rule that ignores people who start posts off topic, especially the ones that start with my previously mentioned statements?

Now, back on topic. Is there anything we can do to show the CF staff that we're pissed off? A petition, maybe? 'Cuase whining about it on here isn't doing much.

It's not so much that there's no new clues in the past couple of weeks, it's more that we have no idea when a new clue will come. So a simple message like "We won't be updating the site until September" from Abrams would at least put our minds at ease.

Well I think if they had an entire thing planned out nothing would change the times on it, but if JJ is just releasing stuff whenever he feels like it (which I doubt) then maybe wed get something.

Has anyone thought that *maybe* they (the PMs) have already posted clues and hints on this site but they have been lost in the MASSIVE trheads and that *maybe*when they try to bring it up again they are getting flamed about their 'thoughts' having been discussed before in the MASSIVE threads of no return??

I do not think that the PMs are going to give us any "Hey look what I found!" this early on in the "ARG" as there are 4-5 months left before the movie comes out which is a long time in internet land. If they have done so, then we have overlooked them . . .

I also believe that JJ stated (correct me if i'm wrong, I make mistakes too) that there is stuff out on the net but that the main focus is going to be making a really good movie. Hate to say it but . . . yes there are lots of online fans, but we aren't the *majority* of ppl that will be going to see this film.

I say be patient, there is more to come.

I've only posted on unfiction about a game. It would be interesting to see what ideas players might have to announce their unhappiness. The PMs might just see it as additional press though. No way to tell.

Some sites use the simple, but astonishingly effective, device of a countdown clock to let people know when something will happen. I wouldn't count on such an update however.

Just to clarify. Unfiction doesn't allow PMs to post clues and hints on the site. Doing so violates the Terms of Service. So, please don't expect to see clues and hints posted on thist site by the PMs.

All we've got is each other. Smile

Speaking of which: an overall comment, how about everyone being respectful to everyone, please? (Which includes not posting spam.) And being welcoming to guests.

This is the thing: people here, in our community of forum posters, are very smart, very creative and very good at what they do. At least part of the way we maintain our community is, surprise, by being nice. The rest remains somewhat of a mystery.

Please, if you don't think a topic is worth replying to, then don't reply. If no one replies, the thread drops down into relative oblivion. If other players think that the topic is worth replying to in a substantive way, then just deal with it or start your own thread. I'm not saying not to post - I mean - not replying is a statement in and of itself. Thanks.

And, finally, these jokes crack me up:
Quote:
There needs to be a thread so that all of the "lock this thread" and keep ______ topic in _____ thread people can be referred to it.

Quote:
And guest posting should be turned off too.

I know you all know, in your heart of hearts, that any such rule is beyond the Unfiction ninja-monkey-pirate code.... which is more like guidelines.. Parlez is always available though. Smile

I admit, things are getting slow with this here so-called ARG. But maybe the PM's are purposefully putting in a large gap of clues to make it even more exciting when there's a breakthrough, or...maybe there are plenty of clues out there and we just haven't found 'em.

I'd venture to say that this is NOT an ARG, and just some cool marketing scheme.

I find it funny how apt the name Cloverfield is, the proverbial search for a four leaf clover, people still believe they will get lucky.

I do not think this is an ARG. I think that WE are driving the buzz for the movie as well as the information being released.

JJ threw enough bones our way to play with and dissect 100 times over knowing it would keep many occupied for the next few months. Time enough to wrap up shooting on the film, work on the cgi aspect, editing and post production.

With many of us going crazy over the "sudden" stoppage of information, we have kept the buzz alive by continuing the discussion about the movie. With filming wrapped up, we no longer get any cool on set pictures or video footage, we are still scouring the net for more sites, which obviously do not exist. The sites that do exist offer nothing. Slusho.jp has just about as much information on it about the movie as does the trailer.

We are just chasing our tail and this was the intention all along.

I am going to sit back and play some video games until the next trailer comes out and then watch the madness ensue once again.

Cheers!
