I had a bit of a chat with the prof this afternoon. He asked me to keep this strictly to myself, so I hope he doesn't find out i'm posting it here Wink

Basically he asked me if I had found his location yet, and when I said no, he offered me one hint "You remember what I did for 1981?" I haven't really had a chance to think about what it means, but its better than nothing....

Voltron44 (5:01:27 PM): Hey Professor
CliffordWorly (5:01:33 PM): Hello
Voltron44 (5:01:41 PM): how's your trip?
CliffordWorly (5:01:59 PM): Very uneventful.. mostly.
Voltron44 (5:02:02 PM): mostly?
CliffordWorly (5:02:06 PM): *nods*
Voltron44 (5:02:15 PM): BTW, i'm StercusMaximus from Grendel Supporters
CliffordWorly (5:02:18 PM): I'll post about it in my blog when I get the time
CliffordWorly (5:02:21 PM): Ah..

Voltron44 (5:02:30 PM): excellent, i'll be keeping an eye out for your update
CliffordWorly (5:02:35 PM): Have you found the location yet?
Voltron44 (5:02:50 PM): i was at work all day, with no internet access...
Voltron44 (5:02:57 PM): i just got home Sad
CliffordWorly (5:02:57 PM): I see.
Voltron44 (5:03:04 PM): can you give me any clues?
CliffordWorly (5:03:06 PM): Well, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out
Voltron44 (5:03:11 PM): i hope so!
CliffordWorly (5:03:17 PM): hehe..
CliffordWorly (5:03:17 PM): Sure..
CliffordWorly (5:03:21 PM): Just one though..

Voltron44 (5:03:25 PM): uh-oh...that soudns ominous Wink
CliffordWorly (5:03:28 PM): Can't let in the idiots.
Voltron44 (5:03:36 PM): i totally agree!
CliffordWorly (5:03:39 PM): You need to keep this to yourself.. ok?
Voltron44 (5:03:46 PM): yeah, i can keep a secret
CliffordWorly (5:03:47 PM): Here's your hint..
CliffordWorly (5:03:56 PM): You remember what I did for 1981?

Voltron44 (5:03:58 PM): yep
CliffordWorly (5:04:10 PM): Have a nice day.

AnthraX101: What bus is she on?
CliffordWorly: An earlier one
CliffordWorly: I have to go..

Bugger - had a chat with the prof too, but internet error has made it dissappear.

He said that the broadcast will be done by RFG.
Anthrax checked it out and thinks it is "Radio Frequency Gateway", or walkie talkies to the rest of us!

And while we're at it...

Quote:
Rasputin42x69: Where is Krystal?
CliffordWorly: Excuse me?
Rasputin42x69: Krystal, the one who flew to meet you on the 9th and
hasn't been seen since?
CliffordWorly: I have no idea. I left her safe and sound at the
airport.

Rasputin42x69: Just at the airport? No dinner at that Thai place?
CliffordWorly: *nods*
CliffordWorly: She wanted to eat there..
CliffordWorly: I need to go..
CliffordWorly signed off at 2:26:27 PM.

Huh... Marcus mentioned here that she actually used her card to pay for dinner. Curiouser and curiouser...

Ok, this topic definitly makes me think that he stashed something in the either the mask.jpg or the dogeared.jpg. Prolly the dogeared one. I downloaded camouflage and jpfind, but there is a small problem ... I seem to need a password to get the info out. I'll keep at it, but in the meantime if anyone has any ideas ... (and yes, i've tried wilbur).

Rowan

oh, and gypsychk, since you did this the last time, was a password needed? It could be that I'm doing this all wrong which is why I'm having problems.

Neither have camouflage in them. Some other software could work though.

Well, here's the thing. The dogeared.jpg graphic is the Graphic Formerly Known as marvin_nash.jpg, which is the pre-stegged version of marvin_nash2.jpg (where I found the hidden file last time). My guess would be that there's nothing in it, since dogeared.jpg and marvin_nash.jpg are both the same size, but who knows?

For the record, no ... no pw was needed that time.

The Prof has also referred to the 1981 puzzle, which didn't involve any hidden files ... just three graphics that all related to the year 1981. I've compared the lyrics to the two songs he references on bluelouboyle.com, identified all the common words and tried those ... nada. Wasn't any fun to do, either.

*EDIT: What about something being hidden in the midi file, rather than the graphic? I know even less about this than I do stegging graphics, and haven't come up with anything useful googling. Anyone know anything about this?

I guess the Professor is much too clever for his own good. But, by the sounds of things, all this won't matter in a day or so anyways (if he's trying to have a broadcast tomorrow?) Maybe he'll take pity on us and give us something a bit easier to figure out. I'd grill him on this if I could ever see him online. Oh well. I'll keep trying things. I'm sure Tobi's already on my trail. I'll just give it more fuel for the fire.

EDIT (to reply to the midi edit): We did find something in the midi file, but we can't figure it out if it means anything. It's being discussed in the Aware: Puzzle area.

I'm so confused now...

My first chat with the professor. And I'm worse off for it. I have no idea what's going on. Anyways...here's the log.

Quote:

TheRowan72: hello professor, i'm looking forward to your chat tonight
cliffordworly: Tonight?
TheRowan72: perhaps i am mistaken
cliffordworly: *nods* I believe you are.
TheRowan72: please forgive me
cliffordworly: Accepted.
TheRowan72: Is there anything I can do to help you? I know you must have had a hard trip.
cliffordworly: No. I'm logged in a hotel and doing well.
TheRowan72: That's good. I'm glad to hear it.
cliffordworly: I need to go. Excuse me.

So am I staying up until 4am for nothing now? *shrug* At least I can sleep in tomorrow.

CliffordWorly: I'll explain later...

I've tried a lot of different dates, the date the book was published (1911), the movies, the first performance...I've also tried different characters, the original author, ALW, the date on the image at bluelouboyle, 2004 (New PotO movie coming out this year), Opera House Casino (Vegas), Mirror, Mask, Phantom, etc ad nauseum........

BTW......counter's now up to 22 hours

I can tell you one thing tho'.....I wish there was an On/Off for the music.

Not sure the clock's meant to be counting anything down....maybe just "Countdown" as in a movie title or something?

Thinking out loud...

This is a kinda thinking out loud. Maybe it will help me or someone else figure this out.

Same path different trail.

Same path = find the similarites between the elements on the page?
MOMA Pic, Indiana Jones, Escher print = 1981 (end of trail 1)

Phantom Mask, Music of the Night midi, "Come to me Angel of Music!", "Listen to the Music of the Night!" = ?? (end of trail 2)

Once figured out, will point us to: www. bluelouboyle.com /????.htm

Am I totally off base? Any other thoughts?

Hey, turn off the speakers before that awful midi drives you to the brink of insanity. I haven't been able to listen to more than a minute of it myself, so I admire your perseverance in the face of adversity.

I have no more ideas, you guys know about the source code under the counter on bluelouboyle.com right? I'm sure it's posted here somewhere. Sorry I'm not more help with this.
