Ok, I see it now. But, it can't mean anything. It's his teeth, or a cigarette. Or, he's got rabies. So what?

Every map I've ever seen of NYC shows part of NJ since it's part of the metropolitan area. This is a typical map of lower Manhattan, showing New York Harbor, the Hudson river and the eastern part of Jersey and yes, they often have that level of detail. It's an extremely common sort of map--I was in NYC today and used a map that was basically the same. There's nothing weird or unusual about it, per se; just the odd red markings. For that, however, I won't discount that it may be a clue to something.

EDIT/ I stand corrected; I'm looking at the details in the teaser and the left side is, I believe, lower Manhattan, while the right side is upper Manhattan, showing part of the Bronx and the Harlem river. The strip down the middle of the map is a gazetteer, which is just a list of streets, places of interest, corresponding to places on the map's grid. That means that the hand-drawn red markings are actually around the Lower East Side. At any rate, it's still just a normal map, even though it doesn't show Jersey; though this is just a map of Manhattan itself (and not all NYC), so that makes sense.

Yes I have. One of my current best friends had lived in New York for many years and has a map of Manhattan that also has northern New jersey on it. The map was made by McNally Maps. You might want to take those things into account the next time you post on this subject.

I apologise for how I've been conducting myself here... I'm usually a lot more relaxed.

On the map note... I think the left 'map' may actually be two (or more) maps. Using the high definition apple trailer I can see a line separating the lower third of the left hand map... and what may be another line that's on the same level as the 'M' on the fraternity paddle... which to me adds creedance to the theory that the left-hand maps show selected views of Manhattan Island itself whilst the right hand one shows Manhattan Island along with bits of New Jersey, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

As for the teeth thing... yeah, they look weird... but I think we'd be reaching if that were to be considered 'something'*.

Question,
Is it possible that the markings on the map where filming locations?

Also could it be the reason nothing new has come out is because this is an ARG but with the speed we have been finding this stuff there trying to smooth everything out before they let us go at it?

Just a thought.

well i mailed Rob on my space and got a reply on the picture attached.

i will keep digging if anyone has any ideas on how to transition that into a good question, or maybe ill just ask him if he has any skateboarder friends straight up

hanzo, that's interesting. Two thoughts:

1) I thought that was a snowboard, not a skateboard, on the wall. Either way, it would make sense that his board might be retired and turned into decoration if he'd stopped using it.

2) It's also interesting that Rob responded to you concerning skating at all. It indicates to me that perhaps that's a significant piece of information. I mean, maybe not, too.... but still.

kingpin, great map disection. I noticed from Google maps that the three red markings in your bottom green-squared map correspond to East River Drive, the Brooklyn Bridge, and possibly the Manhattan Bridge in lower manhattan, but that the red markings higher up on the map do not correspond to nearby streets (not obviously, at any rate). If the map were actually two or three maps, however, that would explain the discrepancy.

So where do you think the rest of the left side of the map represents?

HEY! PERVS!

He's in Tribeca, not Chelsea!

Seriously, it's odd no matter what.
And if you watch the camera move,
he's been placed there very deliberately.

But yeah, people with rabies or a mouthguard
are so ordinary in manhattan.

So far I'm trying to identify the uppermost section... I'm tentatively suggesting that may be a Subway/Borough overview like I mentioned in my original post, however I'd like to locate and work out if that 'triangle' in the top-right corner is a real geographic feature of the map, or just a product of the lighting and the way it's been folded.

Annoyingly a number of the Subway overview maps have a key guide in that spot so I have to try find one that's got the whole Subway system, isn't stylised like a London Underground map and doesn't have a key guide there. I'll ammend my post if I find anything significant.

If the middle segment turns out to be a map of Manhattan north of the lowest map section... then it almost looks like the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges have been marked with red lines... it certainly looks like there's a red line in the spot where the bridges would be on the top-most map, should it turn out to be a overview of the five boroughs. I just hope I haven't subconciously convinced myself and that I'm not just seeing things. Razz

there are a few things in the trailer that seem out of place, like the guy with the weird mouth. there is that one frame zoom in and out as the camera holder comes up onto the roof which zooms into a drawing on the wall of an adjacent building of an odd looking person or creature.
graphiti etc. they have i am pretty sure all been mentioned before but there must be something here we are just not seeing, i'm repeating myself in the hope it suddenly becomes clear.
