I misspoke when I mentioned raptors, one of the other articles I read (mighta been the slashfilm one) alluded to raptors, and I just took it from there.

Why? Slusho is steroids?

Because CNBC ran a story on the rumor about "Overnight" being the movie's title.

DreadCentral had another story they posted earlier today about a potential new trailer in front of Resident Evil: Extinction, due out late September.

Wasn't it supposed to play before Stardust? Oh... that was another made up rumor. I'll believe it when I see it.

The original Dread Central article mentioned raptors. The SlashFilm article said NO raptors. The Dark Horizons article says maybe (it really depends on what their alleged "sources" really said).

Absurd

Raptors didn't have scales.

Scales dropping off and making more little monsters is silly.

Anyone remember Gremlins?

Been done before...

Godzilla and Gamera both fought monsters that had smaller versions wreaking havoc on the masses (though they came together later to form the large monster).

Godzilla vs. Destroyer: http://www.monsterzero.us/editorials/editorials.php?catID=&subCatID=3&contentID=90

Gamera II: The Advent of Legion (seems they bit off the Destroyer movie):

Just saying....and yes, I have both movies, and yes, I AM a geek(ette). I love monster movies, what can I say?

The_Saint's (and spouse's) concept is quite well developed in its own thread, if anyone wants to take a gander. I'm too lazy to post a link.

Anyway, check out this on /Film. It has some neat footage that seems quite real to me. Supposed to be "Cheese" commercial, yet people in bloody costume, Paramount "NO PARKING" signs, etc. suggest otherwise.

I'm sure that's not new, so don't trout me, but if you haven't seen it, you should check it out.

Cheese=Chocolate=Slusho, i.e. yes this is from this movie.
And as pondthris said, good to have a look at if you haven't seen it, although it may be considered a spoiler.

What makes all this absurd and silly?

It is true that paleontologists believe raptors had feathers, and not scales. Velociraptors in Jurassic Park aren't accurate depictions of velociraptors anyway; they're too big and intelligent. That is implying the 'source' meant a prehistoric raptor.

It may not appeal to you, but, like many have pointed out, Sin did this is FFX.

Yes, I do. I remember Gremlins 2 also. They were funny movies, and not meant to be Monster movies. Gremlins weren't a metaphor like most monsters. However, I don't think J.J.'s monster will be a metaphor either.
