Catfight!
come on it could be either and like has been said about many things we just don't know anything really for certain yet.
yes they could use the feedback as inspiration for the happy talk, it could be that some of the feed back was ideal for happy talk but the fact is (opps i used THAT word) we just don't know.
it would seem however that these could be possibly steering us in some direction but then it just could be red herrings.

what i do find odd is that hawk mentions slusho early on in his blog.

it's almost as if there are just things to play with and people are having fun with that but thats about it.

However, I'm sure there is a mix submitted and author created comments. Both of which are steering us in the right direction and giving a few red herrings.

I'm pretty sure that's it, since one of my emails was DEFINITELY used.

Bloop!

While I'm particularly fond of the bloop theories, the big problem with using bloop as a hint is that we don't know what caused the bloop.

Biological researchers theorized that it may have been caused by an undiscovered variety of giant squid, though this theory has been disputed due to the fact that Squid do not have the necessary gas bladders to create the noise recorded.

Edit: Though researchers have analyzed it many times, and have determined it comes from a biological source, this supposed source would have to be larger then any life form yet discovered on earth.

while they may claim that the monster from the movie was the cause of this sound, its more or less a dead end.

This is my favourite theory though because the monster in this film would be based on a monster that's actually existent in real life. It's not a dead end, since we already know that there's nothing known about the Bloop monster, we as fans would know what the monster is without really knowing what it is. Er, I guess you could see that as a dead end.

HOLY Censored!!! They are NOT fan-submitted quotes!!! Do you think that everyone who sent comments to Slusho talks like that? Have you heard of anyone on any forum or anywhere at all saying "oh cool, that's my quote"? No you haven't!!! I'm getting sick of all this talk of certain aspects of this being fact when it is, in fact, specualtaion. Not even good speculation. The first time i read the Happy Talk I could tell it was written by the same people who wrote all the other Censored on the slusho site. Give it up already all of you. Happy Talk is not user submitted!!!

I disagree. If you search back through the Slusho thread, I know there were at least a few people who'd submitted some of the Happy Talk quotes. It's terrific speculation.
Thanks for the censors

Just a thought....

Perhaps the Happy Talk consists of some actual emails sent, some made-up quotes from the "Slusho People" (whoever they are), and perhaps, just perhaps, the "Slusho People" take parts of real emails (ones that might steer us to another clue or be a clue in and of itself) and combine them to make a quote. I've sent in a couple of emails myself, so I'll be looking to see if either all or part of it makes the cut. There could be any number of possibilities, but whatever the source, the quotes are there, and could be possible clues. Go ahead now - flame away, I really don't care, since it's just a game (or not) and just a movie....hopefully a good one, with all the time we're spending on figuring it out....

Seems as though some folks are striving for the "Get Over Yourself" Award Rolling Eyes

There's a link to the full-length Bloop sound at bloopwatch.org, if you don't have Audacity or something similar.

As for the Bloop theory, I can only speak for myself. I do not think that the Bloop sound is similar to any of the roars we hear on the teaser. If you slow down the first roar in the teaser to around 60%, there's a definite "organic" sound, by which I mean it sounds like a real animal growling (i.e., mammalian, like a dog or something), and it sounds nothing like the Bloop. That's just a sound effect and I don't think there's anything in that by itself (though I still wish the spectral analysis of the sounds had been followed up). The sound is not what I was getting at in my version of the theory, however.

My Bloop theory is just like that a couple posters above suggested--I think that the monster in the movie could be tied in with the Bloop phenomenon by way of some small, innocuous reference in the film to the real-world phenomenon itself. It adds to the "suspension of disbelief" by suggesting that the Beast that Ate New York is a giant monster in the sea that real-world scientists think might actually exist. That's it--I do not suggest that there is any other clue to be found by analyzing the Bloop sound, or any of the wild (but somewhat interesting) Lovecraftian theories about Bloop, or anything of the sort. It's just like all the alien movies that try to tie into the "real" Roswell Incident to give it at least a hint of credibility. No one has any idea what Bloop is/was, but nearly everyone (including oceanographers and marine-biologists) believe it is/was an extremely large creature. Old legends (as well as formal mythologies) mention sitings of sea creatures that were several miles long. Not suggesting they really exist--though I like to think they did once--but super gigantenormous sea monsters are one of the primordial beliefs of mankind and that's why everyone is fascinated with Bloop. It's a natural fit with the movie to at least make some connection, however oblique it might turn out to be.

As for the Slusho! Happy Talk--I don't know and don't care whether they are user submitted or not. As I noted above, and I'll state the obvious again, they receive thousands (probably tens of thousands) of emails at that site. They can't or won't post all of them, so they either choose some to post (either deliberately or randomly), or they are all created in order to look like real submissions. It doesn't matter one way or another. Unless and until one of those posts connects with something as-yet-unseen in another confirmed webpage (myspace, 1-18-08, some update of Slusho, or a new official site), there's nothing to be said about them that has any value so far.
