4/17/04: Can we trust anyone's information?

Who can we believe? This is a summary of a bunch of people's posts and ideas. Any errors are mine. All credit goes to the originator, it was too long when I tried to link everything. (How do you guys post a link under the word "here" or something, so that you get the link without the ugly URL...sorry I know almost no HTML or php, yet...)

I broke this down into our three information sources. ( where Malynn fits in I am still working out)

Professor Roddington

I guess we have generally agreed that this character should be called the Professor [if you disagree, let me know] or WR.

Why do we think he is dangerous and crazy?
a. He admitted that he assaulted someone from the bus a long time ago.
b. He threatened to carve something into Melody's belly. (after he lost his challenge to her posting her notes in her msn group.)
c. He seems to like that awful midi from the phantom of the opera.(that one is my personal opinion)
d. He has called people here in chat "Christine", which is name of the heroine of Phantom.
e. Various instances of mental instability.

Do we think he lies?

a. Claims he saw Krystal and then left her at the airport.
b. Claims he was never married.
c. Claims he invented ToBi ??
d. Anything else?

Marcus

The main, perhaps only, spokesman of Ideltech.

Why do we think he isn't trustworthy?

a. He seems to lie to Melody, but she may be an unreliable source in her own right.
b. He wants to invade people's privacy. He has already said he is monitering the people who go to bluelouboyle.com and he will assume they are on the professor's side.
c. He seems to have exagerated Tobi's abilities to get the gov't grant Ideltech received. He doesn't want to use Tobi to find Krystal because if he fails it may affect his grant money.
d. He likes to go clubbing on dollar drink night, even though he seems to be wealthy. ( again my own opinion)
e. He has taken over the Prof.'s server and put incriminating evidence on it. [Spec]
f. He uses Melody to get information for him and also to get information published in the Amboy Monthly. [spec]
g. He has taken Krystal and is framing the professor [spec]

Melody

Why we think she isn't trustworthy

a. Her blog and her notes show her to be inept at investigating. Also, the stories she is telling from her trip to Eugene are far-fetched. The story that the Prof would just leave everything? The car with blood stains in the field of what she had to confirm was marijauna? The Native American amish? [I'm working on this last one, she did say that Clarence would have been able to help her.]

b. Going to Marcus' house in her pajama's? (I couldn't find her confirmation of this, this is only from Marcus.)

c. She could easily be a "shill" for Marcus in the Amboy Monthly and the information she gives us. She wants Marcus to be her boyfriend, so she could be passing along information from him to us.

Conclusions:

Information on bluelouboyle may be planted. (Is the professor's blog safe as it is on a different server?)

Melody's information is suspect. Her blog and notes as well as Amboy Monthly are possibly being used to give us false information.

Marcus' is complex, but dishonest. He will use deceit and intimidation to discredit the Prof. and to keep us from helping the Prof.

The Prof. Is he crazy but honest? How do we know what is his delusion and what is real?

I was wearing a velour sweatsuit... and my indoor/outdoor furry
slippers
because it was a tad chilly out, but I was just running from house to
car to
house. It wasn't as if we were going out anywhere. It was Lunch time,
no one
in their right mind wears PJ's past 10 AM, even on the weekend around
here.

melody emailed me with this answer about the pajamas.

About Melody

I have reconsidered Melody as a reliable narrator of what is happening around her. I think I misunderstood her questions to the group when she was in Eugene. I took them as evidence that she is inept and easily manipulated. But, maybe she was just a little scared and lonely in this investigation of the Professor. Perhaps she was looking for reassurance that we were keeping track of her. She was the farthest away from home she had ever been but she kept exploring. She gave up Easter Holiday at home. Most importantly, she didn't ever whine.

As for her childish infatuation with Marcus, I propose that we remind her that she can do much better. I know some guys who live in Oregon.
