Here is also a link to some of the stuff we've come up with specifically about the phantom1.mid (which I believe is linked with the whole notes reference)

The automated security I set up at my Oregon location is working nicely. The

was working on, the security program reconized (recognized) a threat of someone hacking
at the individual directories. So it appears to have locked them down.

One more typo that might help : reconized (recognized)

Thanks. I'll add that to the list.

Speculations about Melody's Hint

Ok, I'm thinking out loud here so bear with me. I am prefacing this rambling with the fact that I believe that Melody is talking about the blb page and not the actual blog. This is also mostly spec (but then, I guess, what discussion of a puzzle isn't unless you're posting a solution).

Taking the main part of Melody's hint one bit at a time:

Quote:
once I figured out the missing part was the notes,

missing part: The missing page of blb? Or is there something else that's missing there?
was the notes: I believe this is the phantom1.mid. Hence the phrase: Listen to the Music of the Night. This is telling us to take a closer listen/look to the midi?

Quote:
and found the right extention

Maybe I've been looking for the wrong extension. I've only been trying .htm based upon 1981.htm (and all the other sites we've seen have just had .htm as well). We might be looking for a picture or a song or even a .html page instead. (Also notice extention (extension) is spelled wrong). OR, to go a completely different way, she's telling us that we've 'found the right extension'.

Quote:
and I had to try it twice

Has someone stumbled along the actual answer, but needs to try it again with different extension and/or capitalization. This could also go back to the "Second Verse, Same as the first". Caterpillar suggests this could be a way to say "do over". We also have some strange capitialization with the 3 three words having capitals, but none from the rest.

Quote:
my Uncle rteminded me that some sites are case sensetive

Capitalization reference. This probably increases the likelyhood that one or more letters is capitalized in the answer we are looking for. I've basically been only using all lowercase answers (based upon the other game pages). I don't know how many people have been using mixed case, but I don't believe anyone has mentioned it in the boards.

Quote:
especially with things like htm,

I find this odd. Most people refer to html, not htm. Is this another spelling mistake ( , is right next to the l key)? Or is it a hint of some kind? Maybe to point out that htm is the right extension?

All that being said, here are my conclusions (right or wrong)
1. The notes on the muted channel tie into the solution some how. Maybe they point directly to the solution, or maybe they have something to do with "formatting" the solution (extension/capitialization/etc.)

2. After writing this up and thinking some more, I think Melody is saying that .htm is the correct extension. But I know I could be 100% wrong on this point.

3. Capitalization is imporant! I get the feeling we might have stumbled across the solution, we just haven't formatted it correctly. Is it based on some of the different capitalizations we've seen in hers and the prof's posts? Or does the midi hold the key there. I still don't know.

4. I get the feeling we're close. This clue seems like a gentle nudge rather than a huge push, so it seems likely that we've almost got it. Maybe that's why the prof gave us the link to his broadcast. We were close, and so he rewarded us. I'm not to sure he'll give us a second pass tho.[/quote]

I don't know if this is relevant here or not but here goes anyway. In the last post between cliffordworly and krysbabe he refers to her as Christine here.
Quote:
[15:56] cliffordworly: ok
[15:56] bye
[15:58] cliffordworly: Goodbye... Christine...
[15:59] *** cliffordworly signed off at Thu Apr 08 15:59:35 2004.

On the bluelouboyle site we have
Quote:
you seek to find me Christine.
But they who have come before,
Know of the Phantoms Lair.
Evermore.

Quote:
So I pose to you Raoul,
A riddle of sorts.
Find your way through this chamber of Mirrors,
Or heat yourself up to a corpse.

Are we 100% sure the professor doesn't have Krystal? I know he's denied it but we only have his word.

So Where/What is the Phantom's Lair?
The letters url fall in Raoul. Is there another anagram here?
Why does Mirrors start with a capital?
And what does "Or heat yourself up to a corpse" mean? Is it just a bad rhymn?

I guess the question to ask is if he doesn't have Krystal, who is in his video?

found here:

Quote:
Violently jealous, Erik tries to keep the two apart; finally, he kidnaps Christine and tells her she must marry him or he will destroy the Opera house and everyone in it. Meanwhile, Raoul has walked right into one of the many booby-traps that protect Erik's home: a "torture chamber" where Raoul is subjected to extreme heat and thirst. Christine finally agrees to marry Erik whereupon he floods the torture chamber, sparing yet almost drowning Raoul.

Also this:

Quote:
The "torture chamber" is a regular hexagon shaped room with cracked mirrors on all six walls. Also, there is an iron tree in the center, so when the room is lighted, the tree multiplies.

Does this mean I have to go through the attic and find my copy of The Phantom of the Opera just to bone up on all this some more?

Ok, obviously Melody is taking pity on us. She sent another hint to Rasputin. Copied over from the thread on the Interaction board

Quote:

Just got this EMail from Melody today:

Quote:
I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear last night. If something is _FLAT_ doesn't that make it small and lower than the rest?

Ok, lessee if I can wrap my brain around this one...

So I guess that if something it SHARP it would be higher. The muted notes are D D G A B C# C

I've tried ddgabCc.htm and even DDGABCc.htm . I guess I can keep going along those lines, but I wonder the "spelling" is correct. Could it also be ddgabC#c.htm ?? Nope. Should I keep trying different variations on the ddgabcc theme? And should I put the # in or leave it out?

EDIT: SO close yet SO freaking far. *sigh* I suck.

Noway, you were on the right track, nice thinking!

All visitors that didn't check it out yet, the hint eventually led to the phantom1.mid solve!
