I dont think you're being slow, I think you could very well be right. The evidence from last night where Kruger disappears and Mike shows up all points toward one in the same but, There's also the fact that he knows HEX and The Reich doesn't? It's hard to nail down for sure if they're seperate people or not. I'm just putting out the possibility.

Taking that into consideration it's possible he is either a double agent not willing to give up the hex coding or....

 		Either way, I am not entirely sure that Mike is trustworthy. We are assuming he is a mole for the Reich (meaning on our side.)

Or really screw them up and use Binary to Hex

Having talked these possibilities out, it just came to me. I believe a character in the "Metal Gear" series wore a gas mask and was basically the same character as Kruger. Due to psychic testing he had become schizophrenic and the alter ego was linked to his mask.
