First Four Headlines

M. Szaglas says that even a letter will be of importance....

I think the first word could be WAIT...made up of the first letter of each headline. What do you all think?

1. Wall Street Journal leaves a scent for advertisers/ Newspaper using technology to apply scented inks to advertisements at press speeds.
2. It's arrived: the feminisation of the net
3. Asset-backed securities/ Sold down the river Rhine
4. The Fragrance Foundation to Honor John Ledes

That spells WIAT. Maybe it's a name, then?

Or, curlyfry, perhaps it was expected we could figure out how to rearrange the letters to find a word...

 Scented Inks?

I have a little theory, but it might be a bit of a stretch

In the aforementioned Wall Street Journal article (found here, there is mention of two companies that are working on embedding scents into paper (magazines, newspapers, etc.): Scentisphere and Flint Group. Perhaps these two companies created something that SJP got her hands on, like stamps maybe?

My guess is that they (who "they" are, I don't have a clue) embedded Hungary Water or something into the stamps, and after Sarah Jessica got her hands (or nose, as it were) on a stamp, it caused her to go crazy for the perfume. I just know there has to be a connection somewhere, and a reason why the WSJ article was mentioned in the first place. Does that make any sense?

Maybe I'm on to something, or not. That's just where my caffeine-soaked brain led me tonight.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but it's a clip from The Thomas Crown Affair, one of the Captaine's favorite movies. I, too, find the video thing a little suspicious.

Perhaps the $500 is in reference to the "Minimum Recommended Selling Price" idea that was thrown around back on page 4 or 5 of this forum. (I'm reaching, I know.) Also, I took the liberty of googling the words from the clip "And they're still very cheap at $500..." I found a website that contains a listing of all the subtitles from the film. The clip comes from an auction happening in the background; the title character, Thomas Crown, has a conversation with an insurance investigator, Vicki Anderson. The item being auctioned off is a "rare and unusual lot of lithographs depicting the five senses." Interesting, wouldn't you say? Wink

I got the subtitle stuff from this website; i just had to register (it's free) so i could view the entire list of subtitles.

I hope this helps Very Happy

I've attached a Notepad file of the subtitles. To find the part I'm talking about, just open the file, press CTRL+F, type in the word "cheap" (without the quotation marks, of course) into the search box, and press enter. If you need any help with that, let me know, and I'd be glad to assist you.

Kovacs is one of Szaglas' companies, listed in her profile as Kovacs & Co. in Hungary. Haven't been able to find a profile or anything w/Google yet tho.

I've found a couple, but none are really solid leads.
1

2
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=229975949

3
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=229445364

4

I don't think anything of them, yet. One of them only has Szaglas as a friend. But no real information as far as who they might be.
