Why?

Marty McFly didn't know anything about time travel until Doc Brown unveiled the time machine.

True, it's been a mainstay of the more recent monster films I can recall, with one exception that immediately comes to mind:

Deep Rising. The film features an ocean liner being attacked by people-eating monsters, and the only person who knew anything happened to be a survivor (the ship's owner) who was suggesting a hypothesis as to the origin of the monster (The ship was in the South China Sea, and he suggested that as there were depths that hadn't yet been explored by man, some creatures may have grown abnormally big down in those unchartered waters).

The main character, played by Treat Williams knew as much as the rest of the characters did.

Rob knows something, or, as I believe, he knows everything. Perhaps not in the exact minute by minute play by play kind of way, but he knows that the potential exists for what is beginning to unfold in Manhattan.

I figure he only knows that something very bad is about to happen, and nothing more. I severely doubt if he knew there was going to be an attack on Manhattan that he'd still be there when it happened.

Rob knows....HE KNOWS!!!! He is already part of the situation.

He probably knows as much about the creature and it's origins as anyone else in New York.

Now, if we can figure out just WHAT they know.....and how they know....

Heh, a bit of a cop out, right? That's like saying, in the topic title "ROB KNOWS!" and then having the subject body be "-how to mix a mean margarita" Razz

The 1080p one has 6 separate audio tracks, though not all of them are interesting.

yeah i'm using the 1080p and it does have 6 its rather confusing because lastnight i labeled all 6 has 1,2,3,5,6 so i gotta see if i made a mistake and labeled the worong one or if i never exported number 4

BTW this supports my theory that rob knows didily squat

Hah, I've been having trouble too. My machine doesn't like the 1080p and it skips while it plays...so it was a bitch to listen to them all separately. And then I tried exporting the audio tracks and they were blank because somehow my sounds stopped working. After a reboot it turns out they're not blank, so I have tracks 5 and 6 exported. Maybe I'll try the others again later.

I didn't notice the cuckoo sound on any of them, but I might have just missed it. Which track had the conversation you posted? I didn't hear that one either. I assume you amplified the audio because there's a lot of conversation that's too low to hear even with my volume all the way up.

And yes, Rob knows nothing. Maybe people should consider the possibility that Michael Stahl-David is just a bad actor.

hey sry guys but arent you all getting a bit too nervous about that???

think like this

you are at your byebye party leaving your friends family and all this stuff

then there happens something that somebody like rob (he is smart going to japan fo his career Very Happy) understands very fast that what ever is going on out there has to fear him about the situation

even not seeing the tv news only knowing about the rumble and the growl

you are feared

you go up to the roof like all the others and the crazy half drunk camera guy (for sure an old college friend of him^^) says something stupid like

you should have left earlier.......

i would also say shut up

you are looking for elephants walking out of a matchbox Very Happy

I have added all of the tracks as separate MP3 files on my latest post at CloverfieldClues.com.

Some of the things I noticed that I didn't hear in the stereo mix:

"Anybody seen Jason?"
"Anybody seen Jeff?"
"Shut up." (or is it "should have"?)
"Get in the subway!"

I have audio of these clips as well.

Hopefully this helps put the whole Genesis-Jennison-Jason conundrum to bed. To me at least it's more obvious that the confusion comes from the overlapping of the "Anybody seen Jeff?" and "Jason?" in the separate channels.

In what way? Seems very clear now when I listen to the stereo mix, the the "Anybody seen Jeff?" and "Anybody seen Jason?" are overlapped, and could be mistaken for "Genesis" or something else.

The "cuckoo" confusion seems to be cleared up too.

Well thank goodness for that, people offered the explanation it was mostly likely an accidental bi-product but did that matter?

That throws the Cuckoo significance right out the window.

Not gonna say 'told you so', but I think it shows that just because it might look and sound like a duck doesn't mean it isn't a red herring in disguise*
