[SPEC] Slusho: Am I the Only One that Thinks?
it isn't involved

That slusho doesn't really have anything to do with the story but is just a site to give you clues about the movie just like the one JJ did with the candy bar for LOST the candy bar didn't have anything to do with the story of LOST it was just a site to gives clues about it

edit to add [tag], clarify topic and subject description ~rose

hmm

I think people want to believe its slusho thats the cause or main idea because there had to be SOMETHING that either created or woke this creature from the depths of hell or the obyss. The most likely cause, which is constantly thrown in our face is Slusho. We dont really have much else to go on besides Slusho and VX now as a cause. As far as what I think......I've many different ideas for what the heck is going on....just choose to keep them to myself to avoid being flamed for being open minded Sad

I agree with the whole awaken creature from the sea but I'm fairly sure Slusho has nothing to do with the plot of the movie I mean come on a movie about a monster chasing a drink is a sucky ass movie

I'd say this is true of ARGs in general, at least the ones I'm familiar with. They drum up some interest in what they're promoting and give the more hardcore fans some entertaining side story, but don't really have an impact on the main story. Otherwise the bulk of the audience would be alienated for not having been aware of anything revealed in the course of the game.

I know that's what I'm saying but the majority of the theories on here have Slusho playing a major role in the plot which I don't think is true

i dont know, i always said "monster wakes up and is pissed because monsters always are, swims around a bit decides NYC looks like a good thing to smash up, smashes it up, gets pissed bceause humans mess with it, and it goes away."

You're not the only one.

I've held this close to my chest from the beginning. IMO, JJ has been using Slusho for many projects in his fictional "universe" and he probably will continue to use it in the future.

I don't think this movie hinges on Slusho.

Oh, I agree on the Slusho bit too. If Slusho were to be a major part of this flick it would be direct-to-SciFi Channel fodder.

Amen to that. There's no way the drink itself could have anything to do with the monster. That would be reeeally stoopid.

Still, Slusho! might be more than just window dressing - Ganu's research team might have unwittingly played a role in pissing off the monster. Or, maybe Ganu's career as "a lead ocean scientist" will become relevant (w/his later work at Slusho! being largely irrelevant). After all, "his accomplishments are many, he is very big."

Other than this possible connection w/Ganu's history of ocean-research, there's just the general weirdness of the Slusho History. In particular, there's "Ganu's dream" and the fact that his mother, Noriko, is constantly compared to or referred to as a whale.

As far as I can see, those are the only things about Slusho that stand out as being at all relevant... possibly. The general oddness of the History is too vague to really follow up, but the Ganu-as-scientist direction might yield something. I'm sure people have canvassed the web for this before, but it might be worth another look - IF Ganu's career as a scientist is at all relevant, and IF there is or will be an ARE/ARG at work here, then there should be some fake articles, stories, posts, etc. somewhere on the web, concerning Ganu's work - b/c "his accomplishments are many - he is very big."

Absolutely.

In fact, that's a BIG problem w/Slusho being directly involved in ANY way w/the monster: how/why did it attack New York?

There's no way to make sense of that w/out... stretching things. I hope that's not the kind of backstory we're in for. I'd prefer a mindless monster and no great cover-up or conspiracy - just a big, pissed off thing on a rampage. In Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, the monster attacked NYC because that used to be the site of its breeding grounds - or some such. Something like that would make a lot more sense than any direct Slusho connection.

Speaking of Ganu, there's still this site: www.ganu.net. It's been under construction since we knew about it - it was discussed briefly on p.13 of the Slusho! Zoom! thread, but I don't think anyone ever really checked it out. I don't know how to do that, something about a Whois..? Dunce
